I have “the stick” and it has been very useful and easy to use.

I have no idea what weight oil they use. I don’t want to use one which is “close” in case I end up with ruined stanchions a year down the line from something that was close but not right. I also want the damping the exact same as it is just now as I really enjoy it.

I can see a call coming your way. Thanks for your time replying. 🙂

Loco – Sorry for going into broken record mode – how do you know what weight oil they need? I’m guessing bushing tolerances etc may be different to Fox etc so they may need a very specific weight/properties to get the performance and reliability that BOS are believed to have designed in.

For example – Oil for one engine is not the same as another for a different type of engine as there are different bearing tolerances, bearing areas and bearing loadings etc (a bit like a stanchion running in bushes). I’m sure forks are quite different in design at the detailed level and using wrong oils may create premature issues in the lifespan of the parts.

Loco – Are you able to test the weight/properties of the original BOS oil to know the Motul oil will give the same damping and lubrication/support as the original BOS magical weight unobtanium oil?

What oil do you use Loco? I believe I am placing too much value on the BOS oil but my devilles work perfectly and I am not wanting to alter the feel in any way.

They just sacked 25 employees including the head of hardware development. Expect a delivery time the same as Halflife 3…

A forum is no place for logic! Wash your mouth out.

Really interested in customer’s experience tbh. Last time I called they hoped to be up and running by the start of this month.

Not looking to start a witch hunt and don’t know any of the history etc. Just want to know about servicing Bos equipment in the UK with Bos parts and oil and if anyone had experience of that from Surf Sales?

I am guessing it is not up and running yet.

I have an 06 enduro with QR and a 12 enduro with 142 and feel no real difference. I swap the rear wheels between the bikes – one 32 spoke flow and one 36 spoke mavic 721 build and that is where the real difference in stiffness is felt ime.

Could put on a set of 2012 seatstays for a 142 rear end. Doubt it will make any real difference.

    Sorry to hear your news.

Often Specialized will still offer a deal on a replacement frame etc but their hands are tied on 2012 carbon bikes as they never actually sold them (I think?).

I got a warranty 2012 carbon enduro and they only had one other in stock at the time.

Must have been a hell of an unlucky strike or a defect as I have already given my bash ring a few massive hits on the carbon frame. Maybe the previous owner had put some serious hurt on it before which was not visable. Who knows. Good but painful lesson on buying 2nd hand. Just had a 2nd hand frame crack and die a few weeks ago so know how it feels. 🙁

Ours was handed in to local vet 5 weeks after it went missing. He is chipped and was in perfect condition. He has a habit for going into other people’s houses and maybe others were feeding him etc. Very often folk take over other’s cats by feeding them etc.

Thanks Matthew, I won’t base any decisions on it then but it looks spot on.

SNES by a mile. The games managed to pull you in and always rewarded time put in.

Mariokart – snes version is one of the bast racing games ever imo. Played for years and years and years. Still played with an old friend at least once a year.
Street Fighter 2 Turbo – immense 2 player
    Bomberman – frantic multi player
    Pilotwings – Ace one player
    Zelda – brilliant
Sensible Soccer – Ace two player
Jimmy Conners Tennis – suprisingly good 2 player
Super Off Road – v good

    SNES!

You can see some of the layup arrangement on my carbon enduro. Would not worry about it from what I can see in the pics.

Tough call. I think that I get more out of mtb and when I can’t do that I want something as easy as possible and the turbo hits that spot in the fastest cheapest way. But….lots of people on track etc would fair spice it up. Great to see it busy with so many groups after our taster.

Top tips from everyone and had a good laugh today.

the tip regarding clipping in being harder when moving was so true, I looked a right fanny missing it a few times. All good once you are going.

All in all the taster was very enjoyable but I want a working mtb back in my life ASAP!

I sincerely wish that your son’s life and memory can make your family even stronger going forward. Pain is horrible, time is both cruel and a healer.

Very consistant advice so I shall take it all onboard. It is at Glasgow and was going to wear a lightweight 3/4 sleeve top as I have heard it is hot hot. Will take long sleeve option just in case.

Are the look cleats hard to use?

Thanks for the offer Nick. I already have the replacement frame lined up so it looks like I shall soon own 2 enduros. A winter one and a summer one

Oil in my Lyriks used to magically migrate into the damper?! This would reduce the available travel over time until I serviced them. Same happens each time.

Maybe worth a bump for the Monday morning crowd to show what a dent in an alloy frame can lead to over time. Worth keeping an eye on them imo. 🙂

This was the original damage done in ~2007:

The obvious response is that we should NEVER EVER ride a dented alloy frame… 😉

Would depend on which solution is the best financially to get a good working bike. My other bikes in recent years have been specialized and I really enjoy the low bb and how they ride. I also have an enduro which I get on really well with which was a crash replacement frame. Spec are very good to deal with ime.

The drop is exactly as described by amphil and is hidden in the plantation north of mug dock. I know I drop 7ft as I have stood on the fresh landing mark of my rear wheel and the take off lip is way above my head. It would have smarted if the frame had failed there today. My friend used to do it on his hard tail so it is not a hero Dh move.

I don’t feel specialized owe me anything on this. I bought it 2nd hand and created the issue years ago when I stupidly crashed it. The bike has given me great service and I have loved it.

If you look at the last pic you can see that the crack is coiling round the tube. Probably has another year in it 😉

it is a 2004 pro 100mm job. The fail is from a dent in the downtube that I did maybe 5 or 6 years ago when I fell on rocks. Don’t think it was the cold – just time and alloy doing their thing.

The drop is a very smooth affair, sounds much grander than it is. Not the cause but could have been an interesting landing.

Unfortunately I am not the original owner on this bike. I bought it 2nd hand many moons ago. It has been ace fun.

Take a camera with a stupidly strong flash. Nothing better than getting this in the face near to the end of a painful night lap as you head into the trees 😆 😉

The fizzy drinks causes mental retardation thing rings true, I used to drink 2 litres of Irn-Bru a day as a kid! 😆 Can’t refute that fact!

If I am doing turbo sessions and core work during the week and rides at weekend is the milk not the best choice to help muscle rebuilding etc?

Thought it also contained minerals for bones etc? It is like QI in here, you say the obvious and expect a gong!

Still thinking milk edges it. Not wanting to drink fruit juice as I eat enough fruit during the day and always read fruit juice was too concentrated so full of sugar and that fruit should only be eaten as a good tip.

I drink water for the rest of the time at work but like something with taste to look forward to at lunch. Not really a fan of tea, coffee etc. I love Irn-Bru but got over that addiction many years ago 😆
