I have a Sony Nex. Takes great static pics but can be tricky to get good action shots as it does not have phase AF. The sensor can do it but you need to have the shot setup and know where you are focusing. This can be frustrating compared to a DSLR.

My 2012 is just under 29 on bathroom scales so give or take in the same ball park as expected. The CCDB will be heavier whan my float etc. Would not get too wound up by it as my bike still feels pretty light to me at this weight as I am used to it’s heavier brother. Your build looks ace and you will so get too cocky on it and be watching it rolling down a rocky hillside. At this point you will be glad you never spent more on lighter parts

Seems a pound out from bike rumour, usually the pedals that are missed:

Tracey, I would guess your bike is closer to 28lbs 8oz with pedals.

I wrecked the same bike last year in the Alps – it is not a big deal on that front.

I was silly, I just need to buy extra baggage in my name, he can carry the bugger! I then have the direct link to it on my contents if required.

Vid shows how effortless Lewis is on local trails. Cutting across lines that Adam is doing 2 to 3 changes of direction in. Both making it look a lot easier than us mere mortals.

It is the simple fact that some people will do as much as they can within the rules. In your case the rules need changing but it will be hard to enforce.

You know the race is at punta ala and you know the likely trails. You are eager to win, your sponsors want you to win, it is pretty inviting for you to practice the trails if you can.

Uk example. Tweedlove enduro. The locals are already up practicing the trails including the freshly cut stuff. Gentlemens agreements are almost always broken and some rules although fair are too hard to enforce. This is reality.

The sport has got big exposure. The race location was known and some took it more serious than others. No rules bar the slight helmet thing were pushed. Don’t like the legal shuttling etc, then don’t enter or get with the programme. Some people were just more prepared within the rules than others.

Or, push for a change in the rules that will be hard to enforce.

There are currently 4 distinct trails down to Rosies Road. The one that comes out third in order up the hill is currently the best imo  Ace couple of switchbacks although someone knocked down some small trees on the inside down on one switch back to make the line much easier 🙁

The unspoken issue is that barel uplifted the hell out of the trails weeks before the event with i-mtb. He then shuttled them to death for a week before the race. Peaty and lopes etc don’t feel this is fair. Funny as lopes chooses the trails for the one in the US. At least he did last year…

Just as well Barel has a stake in URGE, he can give himself into trouble for marketing his own helmet as too hot.

I have it on good information from a previous BOS approved centre that the BOS forks rely on not only oil but a mix of the grease which is liberally used during the service. This mixes into a banana milkshake of suspension fluid which is how they are designed to run. This mix is part of the reason along with the factory tolerances for why the forks can do such long service intervals compared to Fox/Lyriks etc.

So there is factory tolerances, factory grease oil mix, factory seal and bushing clearances. With all this going on I don’t really want to mess with after market tuners who are feeling their way with different oils and seals; not on c£1k of suspension. My Lyriks are 6 years old this year and still going strong on factory servicing, I hope to get the same from the BOS by following the factory recommendations… 😯

Probably a global issue – what they make up in design they seriously lack in logistics. They have no idea about supporting a product and don’t appear to be able to expand at the rate they can sell product. They are now pushing the US market again which means things will probably get worse for getting parts etc.
Over reliance on their own oil, seals etc will be hindering them – not helping. But they are French and take August off…

O6 Enduro – Still makes me giggle to this day

I find my 06 enduro better than my 2012 enduro. I think the new one will be an absolute stonker but the price is slightly off putting.. 😯

Great in operation – nightmare to get serviced unless you go to Mad Elk Cycles in Ireland. Nobody uses the right oil and it invalidates the warranty by not doing so. It also probably changes the damping etc but you may be able to tune to your taste.

I have two bikes so not such a large gripe and love the Deville in operation. Would probably stick to a Lyrik if it was my only fork.

Yeah, tried that and stuck a tywrap down the seal to see if there was any funny trapped air goings on – nothing. Just magic oil, but maybe it is an oil return issue between the dampers.

I will keep an eye on it just now as it is currently all good. It seems to be happy running a slightly lower than book, oil volume. 🙂

No idea but even TFTuned guessed that I had over filled the damper oil on inspection when it was them that did the previous service. It is black magic!

Mine have been happy for a while as they are. It is all a little odd and may be in the way the damper bleeds/does not bleed when you pull it out when changing the damper oil.

Odd that it may be getting overfilled at service, then works fine to start with then degrades slowly.

Mine did not compress to full travel – damper appeared to increase oil volume to the point it hyro locked.

Mine was/is on a mission control damper. I changed no parts, all I have done over time is take a little fluid out the damper to get full travel.

I serviced the fork at the weekend with no issues. Still had fluid in both lowers since last service and damper had not weirdly increased fluid volume.

Never found out the actual problem but taking a few ml out the top was simple enough. Was always nervous that this increase was caused by lower lube somehow migrating in one direction into the damper, usually it is the other way round when the o ring fails on the bottom of the damper.

Was back out on these again yesterday. I would say that the butcher/purg combo has a tiny bit more drag than the Minion/purg combo which aligns with what others have said. Pretty happy with how rides, front end is very good and the weight saving over LUST/EXO maxxis is nice as long as they don’t fail early… 😯

Butcher/Ardent may be the holy grail but not tried it.

Rode these today but my comparison is very subjective. Background: I have been riding an 06 enduro through winter with minion front, larsen rear for giggles.
Today I was out on a 2012 enduro, sameish travel (160/160 2012 vs 160/165 06)and setup with the butcher front and purg rear – both tubeless.

First thoughts – the butcher seems very good. Very like a minion in most respects. Appears to edge well into corners on all type of surface. One thing that feels slightly better to me is the transition across the tyre if you are going right left right etc. There seems to be no transition feel, it is very smooth. On a minion you can feel it slightly, on a highroller it is very obvious (not that this is bad – just that you can feel it, HR ultimately has a dead spot and needs leaned all the time imo). I thought that this would transfer into less bite on the edge of the Butcher but it does not seem to be the case. I felt instantly confident in the tyre and did not manage to wash it out as I can a minion now and again with lazy riding.

Rolling resistance on the Butcher: not sure – I was riding flats instead of SPDs and the trails were damp instead of bone dry like last time I was out. It feels no worse than a 62A minion. You can hear that it is softer. I think on softer damper ground that it might be a tiny bit draggier but adding more grip. On hard stuff it rolls with no increase in drag felt. Given I have dropped weight compared to the minion exo and it already feels very good I think me and the Butcher will get on well as long as it can survive rocks is it must have a lighter sidewall.

The Purg – Seemed to ride very like an ardent. If it was a blind test I would struggle to tell you what was on there or the differences in feel. The bonus of the purg and the ardent over the larsen is off camber stuff. You have to be careful on a larsen or just be out for sideways fun. The purg/ardent are a much better balance for a minion/butcher up front. I think the purg may be a ting bit harder than an ardent but the purg has slightly more defined knobs for grip. You can feel it trying to bite on loose ground when climbing a little more than an ardent. I would say they both do the same job. Would take a long day out at a trail centre to decide what rolls better. Again I dropped weight from running a lust ardent to going to a control purg so I am happy.

Over all I am very happy with the butcher/purg. I am also happy with the minion/ardent combo. I like to ride everything on the same tyres for low faffage. I like to ride long days XC and steep natural off piste stuff at Inners etc on the same tyres. Boths these combos are perfect for that imo. The specialized combo is lighter but may ultimately be weaker.

I did manage to clag the tyres up on one claggy trail that drops to rosie’s road. They handled like any other tyre clagged up! lol The tyres both cleared as soon as I was on a different surface off that trail.

Not sure if that helps anyone and you may have different experiences etc caveat caveat lol

Spoke to Aviva with some possible situations

    Under std cover:
Fire started by iron left on, cooking accident etc – not covered
Fire started by washing machine moving and pulling electrics – covered

Pipe bursts and floods house – covered
Workman burst pipe or bath left running – not covered.

Negligence seems to be the key thing.

    Sounds best – thanks

My main question is probably around fire and water damage caused by the owner – e.g. a bath left running, pipe bursting or an iron left on causing a fire.

Does normal cover these situation or do you need the additional accident cover? 🙂

I was challenged by a female friend to lose 1 stone in a week. At the time I weighed about 12.8stone (5ft 11)so not really heavy to start. The bet was that she would get naked if I managed it.

I weighed in at the exact time the next week and had 3-4 lbs spare.

Can you lose 2 stone in 6 weeks? – I would find it rediculous to say no, just depends how much you want to.

Perfect PJM – Sch 3 type 18 sets the rule as you say – it would be over 1.2m so will require a building warrant.

I am buying a house with the missives agreed, the neighbour over the back has approached the seller regarding changing the fence to a wall of the same height. Looks like they have not considered anything as they were talking about starting the work before we took ownership. The seller said his hands were tied as the missives include the fence as viewed so the neighbour discussed building a wall on their ground only. Looks like they probably need planning permission and a building warrant. I have checked the local council portal and they have neither.

I believe it does need planning consent as the neighbour’s plot is within a special planning conservation area. I just wondered about building warrant and design of the wall as it is the neighbour that wants to build the wall.

Yes – this is on a 2012 enduro. The std shock is supposed to be better than the 2010 but I still felt it had a bit of a trap door feel to it. A volumer reducer stopped it bottoming out at a reasonable amount of sag but I still felt there was a bit of a trap door feel in the travel. The Push tune from TF eradicated what I was feeling which works a treat for me.

Before you do anything you have to have a good think about what you want to change to have decent dialogue with the tuner. A volume reducer kit is quite good to sample a few changes to see if you like or dislike the differences with different spacers and air pressures and take it from there.

I have a pushed RP23 with the smallest air volume reducer and it is very good imo.

Don’t understand the hissy fits, everyone has different priorities and the OP places finish as a higher priority than some other people. I have a specialized carbon enduro that has a wack paint finish. This doesn’t bother me but would make the OP’s piss boil.

As a constructive post – my friends SantaCruzs seemed to have a good finish. The VPP is utter shat compared to horst, but that is just my opinion 😉 lol

My friend has a monolith in his setup – it just makes me giggle. The house we are going into is quite old, it would probably fall down with that thing going off 😆

Won’t know until I sit down with them I guess. Will get my audiophile mate to come along and slate away. I was thinking floor standing speakers to start with but reading and thinking about the system I realise that music is not as important to me.

So I really like the look of the Song 1030 AV receiver above and I am thinking about the Monitor Mass speaker system. I have admitted to myself that I am not a music audiophile but this looks like lovely stuff and the other half will aprreciate that it does not take up/dominate the whole room. The integration of Sony products should work well enough that the better half can also work it.

Will need to get a demo of it to prove it is not a smelly mess when played together.

Numerous weak reasons; I am a retard with a map and the only bike availabile is a 160mm coiled front and rear full sus, I have to cycle up from the city so will be pretty ruined for racing etc etc

Does not sound like it will really cause any issue as it is over such a big area. Hope the weather is good for you and I’ll see people out there. May take my camera for the odd pic, will post them up here if I do.
