Enduro, and yes I own one so very predictable. The early enduros made me look at getting back into biking from my childhood as it looked like it had leaped fwd to a ton of fun.

    It has.

Was out mugdock tonight – riding v nice. At the bottom of one little steep bit we play on someone had pulled a tree over which had had the branches snapped off, looked like a trap out of Predator 🙁 not cool.

    Steve,

Are you linked to the enduro event at Inners in January?

Different rebound damper and damper oil volume I think.

I was up at the start of the year and solid ice on the down slopes to drops made it interesting… Foot thick solid snow made for some different off piste lines off the moor. Will probably just man up and go for a looksie.

    Cheers

Angus – Doing bearings on 2 bikes at the same time must be almost as simple as doing one – where do I drop mine off? 😉

Dales have advised me to go to Bedt for bearings in the past. Never got round to doing mine yet as there is no play but noticed it was a little rough with the shock off.

GT seems to be worse for increased numbers of people with negative opinions of others enjoyment…

Live and let live and all that.

have used shell 7.5wt fork oil with no issue in my fox shox instead of 7wt and it was cheap as chips from a local Ducati dealer.

Reckon an RS monarch plus will give 156mm travel and work a treat but don’t have the cash to guinea pig it. Don’t know how good the RS performance is either tbh as I would want the option of a decent variable platform as the enduro loves to bob under stand up power. Not sure if eyelet hardware is also an issue on enduro?

The velcro is very sticky in shear, in tension it is not as strong as regular velrco. As long as nothing touches the strap to pull on it then it stays put. If however you put it on your top tube and your shorts brush it then it can pull off and chuck the battery very easily. A quick fix is top put an elastic band round the pack. When you attach the pack to the bike put the elastic band over the strap – now it should go nowhere and won’t get pulled off by accident – v easy cheap fix. Just pick up a red postie band off the ground(found everywhere!) and you are doing your bit for the environment at the same time!

LoCo – how much grease are you suggesting and what is the advantage? I like the DHX air apart from the wallow/punctured rear tyre feel that you sometimes get from it. Rebound does not feel as controlled as my Van R coil even though I set them up the same way.

Definitely got past the seals in my Lyriks as I found it in the lowers when I serviced them at the weekend for loss of travel.

I’m about 12stone with all gear on – run ~167psi in the rear. Usually run with full pro pedal and bottom out wound right in. Sometimes I will take propedal off but usually find the bike slower over most types of ground. Can’t remember rebound setting off the top of my head but I run my bikes pretty neutral.

    Enjoy the bike.

I’m about 80kg with all gear etc – I have got a soft spring and the bushings have been sized (little tight as standard). I still don’t bottom out on rides but can just bottom it out if I wind everything off and smash it off a kerb drop with tight arms.
I did have lack of full travel when they had too much oil in them but it feels like an early bottom out as it hydro locks.

My guess would be slightly tight bushes if they still come like that and too hard a spring if you want full travel. Do you know anyone that you can borrow a soft spring from?

Nex gets a firmware update next month that will sort the menu issue making it into a smart litle camera.

I would take mine out today to take some shots but it looks like rain. This may be the main reason why a NEX/GF etc are not the best…

Is the "race link" a built trail or does it have a different name in that list? Also Ho Chi Minh or is that just a walker path?

I did a DH day with Gardaonbike. Absolutely ace, you will find them and many others in Torbole that can shuttle you up routes at pretty short notice. Friends did the black 601 route on their own and said it was also very good.

    Some routes here:

I slid off the last part of board walk on a full DH bike at the weekend. Not as grippy as you can be fooled into earlier on.

Just an old Canon ixus 50 – pretty small and has been very robust. Rubbish for action photos, need to get my Sony Nex out to see if it is any good.

No riding god claims here… Why did I have no front brake? Because I was ejected by the front door near the top after getting far too cocky and my lever snapped off taking some of the cast reservoir. Still an amzing ride if a little hairy.

If you are determined you can ride up a lot more that a couple of hundred yards. I managed to ride most of the middle and took just under 2 hours to get to the top. I do remember carrying my bike a long way as well though just after the start and then at the end.

The descent is brilliant, even with no front brake.. Rode the whole thing bar one rocky bit near the bottom. Even saw my first adder in the wild as it had no time to hide against a bike tanking down a hill. It still managed to leg it before I had my camera out 🙁

That RC3 with 2.6" stroke would give 156mm travel on my 06 enduro hmmmmmm. Wonder if they will be good?

Thank you Stick_man – I'm a bit stupid for not thinking that! Might call and check before sorting my contents insurance at my current address as it currently does not have away from home.

How do you insure your bikes if you keep them at another address. I keep my bikes at my parents so are they covered under their contents insurance if they do not own them? What about if the bike is away from the property with me – is it still covered as I am the owner not my parents?
