depends on the shorts. some have the strap right over your nips but others have the straps spaced a bit wider.

I wouldn’t change anything for the sake of it but aren’t those rims the ones for skinny xc jeyboys? they may suffer!

being perpetually starving is normal at his age. He’ll fill out and get stronger a bit later. Some time after that he’ll get fat like the rest of us.

When you’re younger you can eat what you like, drink what you like, and still climb into your 26″ waist trousers and zip them closed. Then you reach that age, 24-25, your muscles give up, they wave a little white flag, and without any warning at all you’re suddenly a fat bastard. – Rimmer

Larsen TT is very fast and I got them up on Crests relatively easily. But the carcass is flimsy so may not be what you’re after (I was perpetually pinch flatting with tubes in).

my tops are as baggy as the shorts so gaps are a non issue

On the last pootle I found myself riding behind someone in baggy shorts and top who was displaying plumber’s cleavage like a hairy grand canyon 😯 How I wished he’d been wearing bibs. Still, it gave me some incentive to ride faster and avoid further mental trauma.

Hurrah, hated. I didn’t think I was going to tick many boxes, what with being boringly male, white, straight and employed (all presumably valued) but clearly I can still piss off the mail.

    should I try them? yes

    Do many wear them?
    yes, lots

    Are they better?
yes, they don’t fall down, the waistband doesn’t cut into you, you don’t get a gap between shorts and top.

How much should I spend to try a pair, that won’t put me off?
however much some dhb ones from wiggle cost. Or more, but dhb are cheap and good

What do you do if you need a pee?
if you’re a bloke, you pull down the front and whip it out. If you’re a lady, good luck.

    belt drive too! niche-tastic 😀

I like it, BTW. Very, very nice. I have a real hankering for a bike like that even though I’m not sure I’d really use it.

cheers. Looks like I will also be getting a new console for this as I doubt my laptop is up to the job. What’s recommended?

I remember playing Doom on the 32x when I was a student. I came home from lectures to find my housemate had discovered the chainsaw and was shouting “come to daddy, you *****” as he carved up a herd of pink things 😀

I used to size down for “chuckability” but then I got fed up of going over the bars or off the back. Now I size up and use a short stem and don’t fall off so much.

Awaits the appearance of someone to tell me I’m just a fashion victim. ..

My Wahl ones are not rechargeable but going strong after 20 years. Not having a battery to die may help with longevity.

    I’ve seen two approaches suggested:
    1. minimal packing so it’s obviously a bike and will therefore be looked after (yeah right) and if that doesn’t happen you can easily see the damage
    2. buy/hire a bike box

I tried #1 in the past. I put pipe lagging on the frame, crossed my fingers, and got away with it. It was an mtb that regularly got thrown down hillsides by me so I didn’t care about a few more scratches.

On my last trip I took my road bike and went for #2. The box was £40 to hire and it was all far less stressful. It does take up more room in the car but less than you think. And because it’s a box it’s easier to pack on/around in the car.

All depends how much you value your bike.

EDIT: there are lots of places to hire bike boxes. Look on ebay and you’ll probably find someone near to you who’s trying to recoup the money they invested in buying their own box.

Who was the female British Athlete who ‘forgot’ to attend 2-3 tests?

    Christine Ohourogu (sp?)

You seem to think it was done accidentally on purpose. Can you tell us how you know this? Your infallible spidey sense?

I live in Sheffield. Cornwall and Scotland both feel like a long way.

If you want to actually ride your bike then I’d stick to Midlands and north (Lakes, Peak, Yorkshire) only. Relaxing your criteria to include Wales is also a good call but I’d aim for two locations max.

Fast forward a billion years and you have.. cats with bread on their heads and STW.

TBH, I’m not convinced that STW is a good argument for evolution but it does make wonder whether Darwin made a typo and really meant to say something about survival of the fattest.

lots of cyclists are petrol heads

Sean Kelly, being interviewed after the ’84 Amstel Gold Race, spots his wife leaning against his Citroën AX. He interrupts the interview to tell her to get off the paintwork, to which she shrugs, “In your life the car comes first, then the bike, then me.” Instinctively, he snaps back, “You got the order wrong. The bike comes first.”

my gran used to tell the story of the dog who ate her front door key, including the ribbon she used to hang it round her neck. Two days later there was a jingling noise as the dog ran past trailing the key from its bum.

My mate has a lurcher and he’s a great dog. So long as he gets to run twice a day he’ll lounge about the rest of the time and is no trouble. He’s lovely with people, a bit rough (but not nasty) with other dogs, and the angel of death to small furry things. Whether the dog is good with the cat might depend on if he classes the cat as small enough to be prey or a bit too big. My mates dog chases cats but ignores all sheep including lambs.

Best to always have the source a bit more capable that the downstream system I reckon – as long as you are enjoying the music.

Agreed. Much better to not hear every single detail of a good source than to hear every last nuance of a crap one.

Enjoying the music is the most important part – when I got my latest TT/arm I was convinced to go and audition it by a review that said “You know that when you pop off for a quick slash and think, from the other end of the house, “Gee it sounds like there’s a band playing right here in my home”, you’ve got something extraordinary occurring” 8)

I’ve not heard the Nagaoka MP110 but the 150 sounds pretty good (to be fair, it is in a more expensive system).

Regardless of cartridge choice, you’re going to need to replace everything else to hear what a planar 3 can do!

I’ve nothing to add other than to back up what others have said. Budget for a new rubber band and a cartridge, and have a listen before you buy. You might choose to upgrade but they sound good as stock.
