Yes. On Stans Crest rims. On a Scott Spark 35, 26″
Bugger to get on. Or so I thought. LBS took 5 mins. Gits.

    Seem to be working well.

They do what they say on the label. Good all round tyre. Considering the weather changes we get round here. From road to hardpack to peaty swamps to wet grass they’ve been pretty good I think.

Not light, and reasonably chunky, but seem to be fine.

Yeah, worked out it’s a 2 person job to try that. Worried about damaging the cup as there isn’t much to get purchase on.

    *sigh*

andyl – what would you suggest grinding with? Don’t have a dremel.

    Nothing.

You need to take off and nuke the place from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.

Schweet. Came out simple on the link, now for the swingarm.

    Hmm. Supposed to be working…

One of them is really knackered – ball bearing popping out knackered. just hope that there is enough ‘bite’ on the other balls to bring the outer race with them.

Or just a really big socket, maybe.

They aren’t stuck, it’s just that the swingarm acts as the bearing housing, so the outer race is not visible on one side. So you have to drive/force the bearing out on the inner race, which has the chances of going horribly wrong.

Was going to heat the frame a bit to make it slightly easier to get them out, whichever way I do it.

Intrigued as to how to pull with bolt/nut – would need some kind of interesting brace that allowed the bearing to come towards it….

    Heath Robinson time I think.

I remember my old Muddy Fox courier – I had 16 inch wide bars on that.

    Them were the days.

Aye. +1 for Marek. Great guy, and his frames look beautiful.

Thank you all for your input. Very useful.
I should point out that if/when we get roudn to some touring, I will probably be carrying/towing the bulk of the stuff in a trailer. 🙂

So any touring capacity (certainly in early days) would be lightweight only.

Been trying lots of bikes. But difficult to find shops with enough range of XXS bikes to try. And when you’re not sure of what will work, trying is ever so important.
The trek lexa seems to be a nice entry level road bike with all the bits on. Have scoped ability to convert to flat bars as well.

Anyway, thanks all again for your input.

Oh dear. Too good to be true.
Yet another order failed due to lack of stock control.
I love PX bikes. Just had enough now. I’d rather pay more and actually get something I think.

I’m sure I’ll be tempted back one day with their great ‘too good to be true’ offers. But seemingly they are too good to be true.

Poor CS bloke I spoke to sounded really frustrated with their stock control. I feel sorry for them, having to deal with so many complaints about it. He reckoned nigh on 50% of calls.

I try to be polite to the CS people. It’s not directly their fault.

I think one of the biggest problems they have is their stock control system. It just doesn’t function as it should.
If someone buys something, it should decrement the stock counter. That means someone else can’t buy it. It’s not rocket science.

My last 2 or 3 orders have had this problem. My current order is experiencing the same. If it looks to good to be true, it probably is.

I think maybe people should read this.

FWIW, I’ve had some recent problems and they have been rectified. I was an unhappy customer and a bit grumpy.

But fair play to them for this explanation. Restores a little faith.

This is going to be lovely to add to our nighttime rides from over Ilkley way.
If we can just find a map of where the trail goes…

Keen on doing this conversion to my Spark 35 2012, but LBS now saying that the crank is too long? SRAM S1000 GXP PF crankset

Anyone know why a BB92 standard frame with GXP crank might not fit ?

    mrmoosehead

Well, got a replacement and fitted. LBS price was same as simplybearings+P&P so got it from there. They were quiet so chap popped it on for me with proper driver. Jobs a good ‘un.
Have also found better thing to drive it on with at home.

So all in all, a fiver lost, but lots of knowledge gained. Fair deal, I reckon.

(I was right about which side had the play)

play is only in the smaller non-drive side bearing. can push down on the drive side of the axle and still move the non drive side up and down a tiny bit, but if I push down on the NDS, I can’t wiggle the drive side.

Ergo the NDS bearing is borked.

    Concur?

Not sure I’d notice as there is not a lot of play on the full wheel.
You can just feel it on the axle itself. But only just.

Will stick em in and wiggle and see what happens.

Oh yes, I know it’s lesson learned. Makes absolute sense when you think about it. As I said, only a few quid wasted. And a lot learned.

Reckon it’ll only take me 5 mins to do it again, the right way this time.

Can you think of any other reason why there might be play? Definitely the right bearings. No bits left over after installation… }:8)

I was a die hard HT rider, but last year I went for a Scott Spark 35 to ease my aching old bones. Love it. Good allrounder I think.

    But then I’m a crap rider so I wouldn’t know anything. }:8)
