depends on the mech. i’d imagine that tiagra mechs are full range. also make sure the rear mech has the capacity for the gear range you will have, again the cheaper mechs tend to be less specific but worth a check

can’t see any reason not too as long as you keep the weight down and are careful with seatpost length etc

the wife tours with a beam rack on her airnimal with a couple of panniers and it seems to work well

of course she’s not allowed to do that when i’m with her, far too embarrassing

and old can be pimp too, the v brakes on my klein cost more than most disc brake setups, it’s X0 throughout, carbon bits and bobs etc

i’ll admit i spend more money on bits for it than my other bikes even though i ride it the least, it’s my special favourite, i’ll be buried with it :D

’00 klein still does me proud when the going is right, stiff as hell and great fun with 80mm of travel and v brakes. it’s my bike for life bike

i have an edge (predecessor to the etsx) and it’s an excellent bike. climbs well (even better with custom valved shock)

i also snapped mine and rock mountain (via silverfish) custom painted a new set of chain stays to match mine, great service (was a known issue)

they stumble into spinning sometimes. it’s really quite funny.

the uniform helps to distinguish the drunken idiots (attendees) from the sober idiots (the crew/me)
