wife changed her CX tyres yesterday, in cold garage (was -7 overnight) and both tubes exploded as she inflated the new tyres.

proper catastrophic failure too, split all the way round the seam

Sorry Oxford dictionary uses both snowplough and snowplough. No distinction between British and North American. If you’re going to be pedantic please be correct.

if i owned a pair of slippers that couldn’t be washed they’d be walking under their own power in a matter of weeks!

    my how things have changed.

when i were a lad it was a torch under the duvet and a copy of my Mum’s Grattan catalogue underwear section.

Mind you had such fantastical gadgets been invented I’d have been screwed anyway as my parents house still to this day has neither broadband or a mobile signal.

not sure, i’m no expert. Don’t some of the bigger birds get full plumage in their first breading season?

surf matt – in my yoof i lived in the peak district. My old man had access to such toys as a Unimog with blade and snow blower, tracked vehicles, 8 wheeled vehicles and lots of landrovers and quad bikes.

They still have the Unimog i think but have sold the snow blower, they are crap in wet UK snow unless you have mega horsepower available to the front PTO.

They’ve given up trying to clear snow up to the house, just compacts to ice so they leave cars at the bottom and use a landy with full chains, even with that they were reliant on foot for over a week last winter and the cars didn’t make it up for the best part of 5 weeks

went out on a snowclocross ride yesterday and seriously misjudged the protection of my extremities.

I’ve been cold before but never suffered from agonising pain in toes and fingers whilst warming up, screaming like a baby i was.

Assos winter plus socks are no defence against the wind it seems

The trouble with real snow is that it gathers under the vehicles and ends up lifting the front end.

If you do have a lot of snow, get one of these…

your problem there is that even a landy isn’t heavy enough to provide anything like enough traction to push much snow. We used to use a Unimog with 2 tonnes of stone/salt in the back and chains and still run out of traction in 2ft+ snow.

Okenagan Valley in Canada, less pricey and more laid back than Vancouver and far enough east to make access to other parts of Canada more accessible. 6 hour drive to Van/Whistler/Rockies and not too far over the border into the US. Also has a great wine producing region.

Canada has more public holidays iirc but with riding/winter sports like that on your doorstep holidays become less of an issue.

If you are not looking to change career then Kingston in Ontario seems to be where all the prisons are.

if pace fork oil was thicker it wouldn’t spend it’s entire life escaping from the forks in a desperate bid for freedom.

then they just wouldn’t be pace forks at all

the confusion stems from the fact that Titanium is more expensive and must therefore be ‘better’

    expensive things are always ‘better’

I’m pretty good at sitting awkwardly in a quiet corner trying not to catch anybody’s eye and avoiding conversation at all costs.
