    Keep up the good work.

Thanks folks, I have dispatched my secret weapon (dad) to have a look at one, if you hear swearing from a second hand car dealer in Redburn that’ll be why.

thanks, that’s great to know. Sounds a very similar size to my current C-Class estate.

Do the back seats fold completely flat?

Oh and you should be able to find the location of the nearest FTTC cabinet by searching local planning records for ‘BT Openreach fibre optic green equipment cabinet’ or similar. This will give you a slightly more real world distance to the cabinet than BTs DSL checker especially in rural areas where postcodes can cover large areas.

TBH though the internet speed here was just a bonus, the Coos outside the window provide far more entertainment.

It’s as bit pot luck wherever you are

We are only 200m from the cabinet here in Fife and get 70 down 20 up consistently, further down the village it gets worse pretty quickly and my local (and reference point) gets 15 down despite only being 800m further away and on a business service.

Trouble is that means the whole village is well down on the radar for further improvements despite only a small proportion of the houses getting full service.

    Thanks folks

    Worked a treat

Bought these shims for future reference, little bit tight getting them over the splines but better that than loose:

    Thanks

The bike rack is £85 in our local BMW dealer at the moment and yes, need the bars as well (also on offer)

As they scratched the bonnet when it was in for a recall yesterday I plan on getting an even bigger discount :-)

Hey Ash, certainly has. I ride mountain bikes again now! Trail addiction was on the cards for the next couple of years as now I live in Scotland I’m out on the bike 2-3 times a week and my mojo has returned with a bang.

Hi Andy, indeed i do live on!

This is a real shame. I have nothing but respect for the business that Ash and Alistair built out there.

    This comment irks me somewhat

They don’t have a valid business case if they were only solvent through not paying their tax bill…

If you know anyone that runs a business in France, you will know that NO-ONE knows the correct way to pay tax in France if you are business operator, not even tax accountants. This is why a huge amount of business in France is done off the books. It sounds like they have been caught out by something along these lines. There really IS no word for Entrepreneur in French sadly.

I really hope that the true reason is published and that those involved can re-establish themselves.

    Thanks for the suggestions

We’ve done the Applecross-Kenmore track before, it’s lovely

Always wondered if the Loch Choire track was passable, we’ve stayed at the Garvault a couple of times (an experience) and spotted that some of the pony treks follow that route over to the Crask Inn

there is only one proper steep alpine stile switch back in Derbyshire and that is the bottom one on Cut Gate

that said it is technically in Yorkshire

when i was on the road Id’d get through one every 2 years roughly but then i’m something of an extreme user. £800+ sony was my ball park. I once bought a cheaper one (toshiba i think), got it home, un-packed it, pressed one key, saw it bend then promptly took it back.

Latest sony was a bit too big and they have gone a bit plascticky but i bought it because it had a full HD screen which apples did not.

I now have a work supplied MBP but if i was buying again i would buy a business oriented Lenovo machine as they seem well built (we have 40 of them on our hire fleet). most laptops are now designed with the home user in mind and are never meant to leave the house.

the opportunities for mountain biking in Bosnia are truly epic beyond anything in the alps, it’s a massive shame that a lot of the mountian tops in the border areas are mined

we’ll most definitely be going back

theoretically yes but there are still issues as to how they deal with the up-sampling from CD although they both use linear prediction techniques.

yeah i know what it is ta, just wondered if anyone had used both/gone through a similar process. If you choose ALAC as the itunes import encoder it doesn’t let you change any settings, i guess there aren’t really any to change though. It’s just 24Bit 48KHz as standard.

Downloaded Bjork’s Biophilia in FLAC and boy does listening to MP3 for years make you forget what you’re missing since CD walkmans went out of the window.

great event, did my double lap at 3am and no one turned up to replace me so i correctly surmised that we had abandoned. shame as i thought it was great fun, it was truly horrific though, but in a good way. I was absolutely bowled over by the amount of grip my tioga black turtles gave, i had no problems at all with sliding although some of the damper and grass free climbs were a real drag.

derek starship’s suggestion is good. in combination with a good dose of herbal sleeping pills. only thing i’d say is tense each bit of your body in sequence starting with your toes and finishing with your face. it’s a good relaxation technique.

    whisky also helps

thanks, that pretty much sums up my experience. think i’ll have a bit of a walk around, seems to be in a safe area. i’d love to get the hotel to book me something but they will rip me off massively. maybe my client will be about and up for something.

If you want to use it up close ish the quality from a VGA won’t be very good if the TV is big or HD

    pesh

if it’s less than 10M then pretty much any old VGA cable will be fine.

to be honest if it’s just a stop gap and you don’t need a long cable then your local independent PC retailer will probably give you one for 50p

well documented that there are/have been wallabies and caipubara (sp) roaming the peaks
