Ocrider, aye the monty is a bit on the dear side, luckily I got it at trade.

hold value very well as they don’t often come up for sale. Jons lasted him for almost 2 years and it sold for almost £100 when it went.

Monty’s are ace. Feather weight and bombproof.

While balancing an egg on her head and a spoon on her nose, Adriana Yugovich recited the alphabet backward in 2.4 seconds.

    Shamefully robbed from the interwebs.

    The football/world/string one was awesome.

The spesh hotrock has a coaster brake, and I thought the ridgeback was pretty heavy.

For those 2 reasons I got our 4yr old an Islabike cnoc16.

Just gone from blackberry torch to iphone 3gs.

Its a 16Gb version, and as long as you’re sensible with apps and photos, should easily be enough.

I really like it a lot and will be getting a 4/5 when contract is due.

Couple of little things I cant do as easily on it as I could on the blackberry, but its definitely nicer to use overall.

I use endomondo for my tracking app. very reliable.

    About 1 tank per month = £100.

    In a word no.

The l&m smart charger is a bit clever and it won’t send charge current till it detects a battery voltage.

One of mine died (nimh) and I managed to get it back to life by charging it with a different charger.

Only lasted an extra couple of months before I has to have it re-celled.

    Les Arcs +1

    My favourite european resort.

With a distinct lack of buttons and t-bars. 🙂

Well there is some, but being a ‘gay on a tray’ these things are important to me.

    here

    on Christmas day 2002

Had no ring, but went down on one knee. We then went to a little jewellery market just outside Central Park and bought a ring off a chinese lady. It was designed and made by her. She took us through to the back where we watched it get re-sized, the stone was reset and polished back up. We were told that it was the only one in existence.

We then went back to central park and made snow angels.

Absolutely fantastic effort. I was chatting with you on the start line (I’m just to the right of you in the pic) and thought you were nuts!

    😀 Amazing……

I was in the ‘border train’ too. There cant have been many folk with pink brakes and It certainly was trio25 that I was following.

That was the worst part of the lap for me.

Other than bearings and chain rings, that’s my list of repairs too. My rear mech was brand new and the jockey wheels are shot, chain was new, pads new cables new.

But when you are trying to slow down using your pistons onto your rotors, it makes a bit of a mess.

For cheapness look at the radsail range. Got a 1.8 and a 2.4 (iirc) for the money they are great.

You could maybe pick up a flexifoil super 10 off the bay for reasonable money, easier to get to grips with as they are 2line kites. I had one for my first ‘proper’ kite.

Then when you get bored of that, get a blade 3 4.9 to pull your arms out. 🙂

Do the midges keep away when it rains? Perhaps the blessing is that you aren’t being eaten to death on the circuit when it is wet.

The bites on my legs would suggest that they put their waterproofs on.

had mine since may. It still holds my seat up, no creaking, slipping etc. It has height markings, and they dont wear off. HTH 🙂

@squiff – that was me exactly last year! stayed in lodge, bailed by first cut-off and lap of the lake to enjoy something.

@jonba – I’m planning on just seeing what my rotors are like with new pads. I have chamfered pistons in the back brake.

    +1 for tempur.

Had ours for over 7 years now, will not hesitste replacing it with another when it eventually wears out.

If you reckon on it lasting 15 years you are looking at around 30p per night for a comfy kip.

By the way ours is looking, I have no reason to think it wont last another 7.

Dead pads by the Newcastleton cut-off for me, had to walk the hidden valley descent. Fire road braking was done via shoe on front wheel.

Started to lose rear shifting at 50 miles, gave up completely just after 60. Front wouldn’t shift down to granny either.

    Came in 13h25m.

Failed last year, so to do it this year in much worse conditions feels awesome!

Shopping list so far – Pads, chain, jockey wheels, 2 pistons, rear shifter, possibly front shifter too.

    @michaelmcc

I didnt pay more than £80ea for both of them. Have had to have a battery rebuilt, but that cost a grand total of £25.

Much cheaper than an addditional battery though, and I have spares!

I ran the newcastleton one in may with with a topeak LED on the bars and a Light and Motion HID on my helmet.

I bought the topeak from je james in the sale, and bought 2 L&M hid’s off ebay. Just to have 2 batteries.

The topeak lasted for the entire duration of the ‘lights on’ requirement, and I changed batteries once with the L&M. only used helmet when on the twisty bits.

I am tempted to have a punt on your linked one mind. seems really good value. Someone here must have one??

24 solo (same guys that run the kielder 100)24/12 hr soloist only, youngster in only it’s 2nd year great trails can get a bit lonely, cracking event growing in stature Mid May Newcastleton Scotland

Did that this year. Was tough mentally and physically.

Only managed 10 laps but loved it. Will be back next year aiming for at least 12. I did find myself on me jack on several occassions after the 12 had finished, but there was always someone not far away to have a bit craic with, and I’ll never forget the sight of a gorilla playing the drums in the pi**ing rain in the middle of the night in the middle of a forest.
