Although technically not vbrakes, the Magura Hs33’s use the v mounting points and provide heaps of stopping power.

Can get them pretty cheap off the bay.

I have a set to fit to my commuter once I can get me act together and lengthen the rear hose.

I have just gone through it with my stepdad. He died on the 27th November. My 2 boys are 4 and 11.

We held off telling the eldest anything until we were sure of the outcome. Just told him that Granda was very poorly.
We figured the youngest was too young to be told anything.

Both of them were attached to Granda but both seem to be coping very well.

    Best wishes Zulu-Eleven

Just read the whole thread with a wry smile most of the way through, Although the youngest is just 4, its seems all a distant memory.

I am still up at 0520 each morning, but that’s just so I can finish early to do the school run.

I get him up just before I leave so he can have a wee, then he climbs into bed with Mammy till about 0730.

At times it feels like you’re never going to get a good kip again, but its only a couple of years!

I replaced the Triad on my 2008 stumpy with an rp23 after it got stuck down for the second time.

The original shock was 184mm eye to eye with a stroke of 45mm

The closest RP23 was 190mm x 50mm. Specialized said it would void the frame warranty etc, but I rode it for a year with it on, no issues.

IMO as long as the frame isnt fouling the shock or itself anywhere along its travel, I would use it.

I have hit 46 going down the Ryals on my Singlespeed. Arse of back, chin on bars. If I had to pedal I’d need to spin at 237rpm (40:16 gearing)

I also did 32 on my anthem doing the K100. Going down the ryals was a lot less scary.

I vaguely remember video booths in the presto at cramlington. What I clearly remember is the trolley bloke. You gave him a pound in exchange for a great big lump of plastic an h let you take the trolley to the car.

A whole pound!!! And that would have been about 1977.

W had a liptons in the village, now a spar think.

The red wine trip was interesting.

Generally give it a swill out before I use it again, have a bad habit of leaving a little bit in the bottom.

Bloke at work just had a new kidney. He is at the hospital regularly and takes a lot of pillsvdaily to stop his body rejecting the organ. He has to take pills for the rest of his life, which I believe is the case for all transplant patients.

My iPhone has a protector and the screen works fine through it, but was a bit of a pain to put on. I thought about putting one on my iPad but was concerned about getting it on square and bubble free. So I just don’t let the kids on it.

It is in a ‘leather’ holder thing though.

    update.

Got some spray on skin. felt like someone was blowtorching my leg!

It did keep it dry though, however it kept some muck in and it became infected.

Went to docs, measured it a 17 cm long and 8 cm wide, prescribed 500mg of ‘something’cillin for a week, and told to keep it clean and dry.

It scabbed over fully after about 2 weeks, and the final remnants have just fallen off leaving a rather tender pink and wrinkly patch.

    Cheers

Upgraded my tt to a live model a couple of months go. Works great. Not sure how useful thevtraffic partvis as I’ve not used it that much. The google search is amazingly handy though.

Cheers Zulu. Proper made me giggle.

I asked the wife, she said it was all to do with the friction within the bearings/wheels that would be easily overcome by the thrust of the engines.

I have enjoyed the thread greatly.

    Thank you.

The planes propulsion being air I can understand, but think of it this way.

If you have a plane, on a treadmill, the treadmill is stationary and the planes engines are at ‘tickover’

    ( please excuse the terminology)

If you then start the treadmill, surely the plane would move backwards?

You could then counter act that by throttling up the planes engines and bring the plane back to a stationary state.

Wouldnt it then be the case that as you increased the speed of the treadmill, you increased the power of the engines?

Then the plane still appears to be stationary?

I once met a man with a jet powered bicycle ( I kid you not, it was at the world wheelie championships at elvington). Shame we couldn’t get him and his bike on a treadmill and see what happened.

I bought one in march this year and had it about 5 months.

In that time the BB failed, the freehub failed, I had the forks back to Mojo as something went inside and the swingarm bushes developed play.

After I had the swing arm bushes replaced, the frame cracked around the swing arm mounting points.

I gave up on it after that and got a refund. It had been with the LBS longer than it had been with me.

I did like the way the bike rode, better going down than up IMO.

What I didnt like was the amount of flex apparent in the rear end under power.
I also didnt like the way the cables rubbed through to the bare carbon rather quickly. (I should have put frame protectors on…)

It’s put me off carbon framed MTB’s for the moment.

Bought a Renault traffic 2years ago. Best vehicle I have ever owned.
    It’s a 6 seater LWB.

I can get the wife, kids, dog, bikes and camping gear in no problem. It’s somewhere to get changed when the weather is manky, sits at motorway speeds all day long and gets about 35 to the gallon.

200 quid to tax, bout 450 insurance.

Can’t see me changing ever. ( unless I get a newer one)

shouldn’t need to re-bleed or top up.

Just push all pistons back in using old pads and a suitable lever, stick new pads in, reset pistons, job done.

I have found with my M4’s that the piston setting part of it is pretty important and worth spending a bit of time getting it right.

MrsLugz went on a ladies day course there in May. Thoroughly enjoyed herself, and said she learnt a lot.

Instructor was very patient and very good at explaining things.

Still classes herself as a beginner, but I noticed a marked improvement in confidence when we were next out.

Artificial skin spray sounds like an alright thing to try, bit reluctant to have anything sticky on my hairy pins, and it’s a reasonably sized scrape.

Thanks for the link Jamie, classing it as a burn makes sense, and I did give it a good TCP scrub when I got in.

I was talked into a spesh Hard Rock by the LBS. £250 IIRC.

Fuel is my biggest cost too. A trip to Dalby will use £30 worth.

I replace clothing when its worn out, and always with sale stuff.

Saying that, my total ride cost for the K100 was around £250

Was/is it worth it? Every penny.
