i’d say that one stato has posted would work. my 1997 kona seems to have a nigh-on identical one to my old 2004 spesh stumpjumper.

thanks nikk. i forget about coastkid’s blog! so does landrover track = fairly all weather? i really just fancy getting out in the hills, so trailtype is not too important (though fun singletrack is a bonus to any ride!)

the guy was probably mid-30s, had long dark hair and a beard. he was wearing a black and orange technical jacket with a Historic Scotland patch on the sleeve. if you see someone like that up there, pull some massive rocket skids in front of him! and i’m sure you’ll get your day in court 🙂

well i did give as good as i got, but he just kept going on about these acts of parliament…

i was up in Holyrood Park today and a ranger stopped me – under no circumstances can anyone cycle there, except on the green-tarmac’d paths or the roads. strictly NO CYCLING ON THE TRAILS.

the park is protected by an act of parliament that is older than the right to roam/open access one – and the right to roam one does not specifically override the original act. or so he said. 🙁

i saw him arrive in a van (although perhaps you saw a colleague or friend). he had a crash hat with his brand on which he waved during the photos. anyway, let’s not get too hung up on this, overall, it was a good showing! 🙂

    TJ 1 – 0 Argyle 🙂

just thought it was pretty cheeky. he even thanked me for coming!

i was there, but out to the side.

yep, he DROVE!! he seemed disappointed that the police officer wouldn’t let him park directly opposite the soapbox! it wasn’t STW’s favourite edinburgh shop, incase anyone was wondering 😉

i did think the bike shop owner who turned up in his VAN and handed out stickers promoting his shop was nothing short of a shameless profiteering 👿

i’ve been using a project for about 7 years and it’s good. you need to manually move the belt from onto different cogs to adjust the speed, and it has no auto-thingy for the arm when the record ends, but it only cost £120 new. i’ve no idea about their current range though, i see they don’t do my model anymore…

i wondered too. wasn’t the last one at holyrood? i assumed some kind of meeting was going down at st andrew’s house. either that, or “NO PROTESTS OUTSIDE PARLIAMENT

OH MY GOD, I CARRY LOTS OF STUFF, TWO PEOPLE ON THE INTERNET TELL ME I’M A FOOL, WHATEVER WILL I DO.

    i know, i’ll list everything i carry

    multitool
    swiss army knife
    puncture kit
    mini pump
    fork pump
    tube
    pliers and brake pads
    chain tool and POWER LINKS!
    spokey
    zipties
    food
    water
    fleece (in wintertime)
    waterproof (in wintertime)
    coupla nuts and bolts
    oh, and money and phone

i appreicate the whole “back in the day, we never took tools, and anyroad, our wheels were square and made out of wood” but i’m not riding in the past. i also don’t anguish over the weight of my bike, nor the weight of the contents of my pack. i do think the bag itself is pretty heavy though 😆

“surface runoff and highway drainage” suggests this is not just roof run-off. i’d seek clarification on that point, for starters. if the charge is for all surface water flows to the sewerage/surface water system(s) then i’m guessing arguments regarding roof size won’t get you too far. all in my humble, of course…

EDIT: see if you can’t check who is responsible for surfaces road flows. often it’ll be the council who provide the gulleys, which then connect into the water company’s drainage system. just working this out may prove tricky (i’ve worked on flooding schemes and it used to get pretty fraught regarding the old blame game…)

well my girlfriend was up half the night poorly, so never quite managed to get up for 8! heading soon though, yeah 🙂

last year i rode everyday for at least the first couple of weeks so it’d be nice to do something like that again, but for longer 🙂

i thought it was something to do with making sure the muscles that have any impingement on the spine are strong and balanced. having a 6-pack on it’s own ain’t enough. i’m sure i read that somewhere when i decided i should work on my core strength… (which i never bothered doing, btw. i was petrified of making things bad by not balancing it right and snapping my spine, or something)

did you order a custom wheel? because i think you’re meant to allow 4 to 6 days? anyway, i just order a custom wheel. after three or four days they emailed to say the rim i’d chosen wasn’t available, but i can choose an alternative. i responded that i was set on the rim i chose and a couple of days later they got in touch to say they’d found one out back and my wheel would be here soon. arrived the other day and seems fine. but it was a bit of faff (and i’ve missed out some stages) but i suggest you get in touch to find out if there’s something holding it up.

aracer – now i see. still, i’d really not like to conflate the significance of this forum in my life; i fail to see how these things are really that much of an issue. but, i guess things like this are pretty important to some.

Go on then – if it’s so easy explain away (several people have already mistakenly suggested the same thing on this thread, due to misunderstanding how the forum actually works).

    wooah there, nelly!

ok, looks like i misread your demand for seeing all posts someone has posted.

as to seeing the last post on a thread? surely just by clicking on someones name as it appears to the right of the thread in the forum? EDIT: under the freshness column?

if this is not not to what you refer, then i give up. though i will say this – i’m happy with the forum structure and see no reason to whinge [baby-pram-toys malfunction]because it isn’t made the way i want it[/baby-pram-toys malfunction]

    – it’s far from straightforward to check what posts somebody has made (just which threads they’ve posted on, which is really helpful with 500 post threads)
    – you can’t go direct to the first new post in a thread since you last read it

eh? i thought it was painfully obvious how to do these things. like, so easy 🙄

(apologies if this has already been mentioned. i just want to join in!)

i bought a control tech 27.2mm post for my inbred and that was as baggy as a giant’s stocking on a baby’s foot. the thompson that replaced it was as snug as a snug thing… so i guess i’d recommend trying other posts to see if the problem persists…

i think it’s interesting that all tags have been deleted except for the one about bingo wings and the one about angry birds and the tagageddon one. two out of three of those left are pretty offensive, i’d say. says something about the moderator charged with removing tags 😮
