721 user here, mostly XC nowadays in the pentlands, though if i get to go to trail centres and abroad i like to ride hard. i do fine on them but if i had the cash i'd be getting a lighter rim, at least on the back…

all those miles and the hub fails. must be a manufacturing defect… 🙄

i have a 13 year old animal watch. barely a scratch – and i once clouted it against a root that was at wrist level which totally ripped the strap – but the watch itself was largely unscathed 🙂

so i've had a wheel (12 year old hope ti glide on 521 rim for two years) and i've just got this pinging sound too! wheel is true, only thing is i've just put a new tyre on (2-bliss spesh captain) pumped hard so wonder if this is it?

+1 for roller, though use a metal drinks bottle for added pain! it relieves it straight off, but i would recommend proper stretches and ideally sports physio for best results. and make sure your seat isn't too high!

is it not just a future publishing attempt at pushing out singletrack and/or the ride journal? can't help but think the motives are less than virtuous. i recall manley saying he doesn't even like to ride anymore in one of his mbuk editor rants…

i find the notion of tendering quite curious. so why should this be the case? councils or landlords don't put high street shop units to tender for a specific use, do they?

innocent railway in edinburgh, and there's a tunnel on the union canal near falkirk. that one is kinda difficult though, like riding on ice!

is this the first on one thread since ragley where brant has responded without sarcasm? :O

[vested interest] filmhouse does bar/bistro food – and it's been pretty quiet during the festival so far… [/vested interest]

rob warner set off a camera in some film or other when he was using a big petrol powered fan on his back so i guess it's possible to trigger one.

also, someone triggered the camera in bloxham near banbury by bike many many years ago, and supposedly the police doggedly traced the cyclist (somehow) and got them a fine. this may be a myth of course, i don't know who the person was…

i used to live in brackley, and had one or two routes i'd do – but it'd be a lot of mudplugging and a lot of road… i wonder if silverstone woods would be good for a quick blast?

thanks for the offer TBC. i think it's pentlands or nothing for me – i'll be working in a kitchen on a 9 hour shift til 6.30 and i really need to see if i'm not too knackered then! seems harsh someone coming to get me just for me to cancel. but if i get a wednesday off then a lift would be graciously received! 🙂

mine's a topeak super tourist dx or something – the one with the sprung loaded trap on the top. it's well heavy and pretty over the top feature-wise i think. tough though. bags are edinburgh bike coop own brand – waterproof, but not massive. i got them for £48 in a sale and i'm most pleased! racktop bag is a dry bag from lidl or aldi and is spot-on too.

i had one once – right in my crotch. it was just fat that was poking through the tear, and it never hurt. i rode as normal til i got it stitched…

well it would have been better without the side adverts across the video. and without the compression it won't play properly anyway. those rude comments are due to your blind refusal to make it watchable.

just dual slalom, log pull!!, , tyre change, bunnyhop, xc and trials

    like the classic weekender?! 😆

i remember the poorly Xeroxed newsletters for banbury all terrain club from way back when. i still wear the jersey i got!

if your English be prepared for lots of Scottish anti English sentiment

in edinburgh? hardly! the imagined threat is always greater than the real (been here 5 years and a half years with no stress)

i've ridden it from innerleithen to cockburnspath over 2 and a bits days and it was great fun! we didn't stick to it religiously though, some bits were really muddy and the like, but mostly it was fantastic – go for it!

look at the 456 page on the on one site – it says the head angles for 4 and 6 inch forks in the spiel…

epicsteve – i took a hope tiglide rear hub to the bikeworks to get the bearings changed and they returned it saying they were super-smooth (on ten year old bearings!) – they guy even spun it infront of me. got it home, had a spin and it was like the bearings had been replaced with gravel. took it back and they were everso apologetic…. hmmmm

    they're both trail bikes?
they're both designed for long forks?

i thought the guy wanted to know the difference. merely stating that they're different doesn't seem like much of an answer 😛

i think i might be along! it depends on whether i get my forks onto my kona. and if i'm kanackered. early start thursday…

i'll be on an old red kona hahanna at bonaly – if i'm not there i'm not out! 🙂
