i generally don’t jump the lights (almost never?). but often a car will pull right in front of me to stop me from doing so anyway. they then speed off with a roar, so i try and keep up. by the next lights, when they’re not expecting me to be there, i saunter along in the cycle booster lane, all casual – jessica fletcher style, and give em a big smile!

why jump lights when you can have so much more fun annoying drivers in their own terms 😈

I can’t remember the last time I was actually drunk either.

but you woke up with a ‘thick head’ after several margaritas? seems like this really has crept up on you – especially with comments like “it seems to be occupying my thoughts during the rest of the day”

i used to drink daily – changed jobs, now I don’t. i sometimes get free beers from work and even some wine, but i feel able to leave booze alone quite easily now.

good luck, but i’m sure you’ll be fine!

haha, love it! implicit assumption i’m guessing:

“courts are always right, these people are always wrong, there’s never any chance that their incarceration is actually politically informed or motivated, etc…”

    😆

the way i see it, is that the damage from getting wasted on alcohol is potentially more damaging than getting wasted on cocaine. so you wouldn’t do a line after a ride to compensate a single pint; it’d be more like an eight of a line – but who’d do that anyway? like drinking redbull before bed… and anyway, it calls for alcohol to be in the same class as heroin and crack, not for a downgrading of the drugs. 🙄

my first MTB was a £100 universal (1991). it was awful, double chainset, hi-tensile steel. the brake levers were plastic and broke after about a month, but i still rode it.

then i saved and bought a diamond back topanga (1994) – what a great bike! i sold it to my german teacher at college, and convinced her that her tiny son would grow into it… 😆

huh. i know why i ride. no idea why you do though.

greasing bearings after every ride? why only the suspension bearings? why not the hubs, pedals, bottom bracket, headset too? seems odd to expect that little from suspension bearings!

11 months for bearings ain’t amazing, but it’s not too bad, is it? but i probably missed the post where you described how they ended up wrecked, how it was a manufacturing defect… is it only that they have play?

    EDIT: there’s a reason i haven’t had a full sus since 2000!

edinburgh to glasgow via the canal
glasgow to fort william on the west highland way
fort bill to inverness on the great glen way
    inverness to dundee somehow
dundee to edinburgh via the fife coastal path

excited just thinking about it! it’ll be my first 8)

if i was lying on the floor with my eyes rolling, and if i had a cat, i’d expect that cat to be pretty freaked. i mean, who would be feeding the damn thing, for a start!

these shops and their overheads, eh! how dare they try and stay in business! it’s not them marking up; it’s the online stores discounting 🙂

bit of a cheek buying all the gear elsewhere and getting the shop to fit it for ya, dontcha think? maybe he would have taken more time over the work if he hadn’t felt used and cheated out of a sale?

i got an ’09 hawg and it weighs a kilo unloaded. i get used to it on long day rides, but it seems massively over built.

well, i’m totally not fussed if someone wants to race me. let them go i say!
but i had a funny one last night – cycling home on my commuting/mtb/oddsnsods kona and wearing jeans and get to a traffic light crossing – i trackstand waiting for the lights (as i always do) and a be-lycrad roading pulls up in the opposite direction, starts trackstanding also and looking intently at me as if to say: “yeah, i can do it too, look at me, i’m great, i’m staring you out and you WILL dab”. i didn’t of course, but it was enough to make me chuckle all the way home 🙂
