mulletus – the insult was definitely self-directed! no offence intended 🙂

here’re my pics from the day. first, a tribute to some family or other in the pentland hills. it dates back to the 1700 and 1800s.

this is the castlelaw souterrain also in the pentlands – it’s an iron-age coldstore so i guess it’s kind of a monument to the past!

not so sure about this – this was outside dreghorn barracks. i’ve not really paid attention before, and i was too tired to do all the reading! but i think it’s rather impressive 🙂 the date on the front is 1666, but i suspect it’s far newer than that

the first great war was 1914-1919?? someone care to enlighten this historically challenged rider?

more riding time in than if you’re pushing/riding back up

you get more time riding than if you were riding back up. FAIL!

i like chairlifts, but the poll was a bit vague so i assumed it meant cramming one’s bike onto a tractor trailer and getting a lift in a creaky old coach, up what is not a particularly big scottish hillock, for lots of money. i have no plans to do that. if, however, i ever had the money for a trip away, i would happily get chairlifts up real mountains.

my girlfriend saw a guy brazenly doing a deal in tollcross in edinburgh the other day – cash from one guy, bag of white powder to the other… apparently the suits outside the office were astounded!

YO! that’d be right. i guess either mbuk was wrong or i remember wrong… sorry, you’re not really an idiot 🙂

dandelion and murdoch – you’re an idiot. the ‘volume’ in a tyre at 5psi is the same as the ‘volume’ 55psi (when considering the tyre itself). but you need a greater inputted volume to achieve the higher pressure.

i hear 78 percent nitrogen to 21 percent oxygen. you’re allowed a few impurities to make up the 100 percent! 😀

i think MBUK did this once, you need a greater volume of helium compared to normal air to achieve the same pressures. over a ‘standard’ tube you save a whopping 7grams! but you’ll have flat tyres before the end of the ride as the molecules seep out. maybe you could fill your tyres with slime to prevent leakage 😆

you won’t get far on that – there’re no pedals!

crikey, it takes me about three seconds. make sure you try and disconnect with the link ABOVE the chainstay – this means you don’t have the rear mech trying to pull the chain which’ll make it trickier.

i’ve got a cateye endura – does all you want and under £20. personally i’m not convinced by wireless, but only cos my mate had that and it stopped working if a brake or gear cable got in the way.

surely the boat one has a double meaning – it’s close to the boat’s bridge! 🙂

i never made it out this weekend for the challenge, but hope to next week for something *ahem* monumental!

Try and solve complex mathematical problems in your head.

    i do that.

actually, it’s more like simple addition.

really, i just count pedal revolutions.

never done a proper endurance event though…

i was gonna get that super cheap inbred on one were selling but they’ve sold out 🙁

probably for the best! i was gonna get it as a more reliable frame for all i use mine for – xc, trail centre-ing, commuting, and ultimately touring. my kona does all this but with minimal tyre clearance, and at 14 years old i wonder if it’s due some crackage 😕

i’ve only just got a cycle computer, but i managed 36mph the other day in edinburgh without pedalling 🙂

yeah, it says -4 as extreme, which maybe isn’t that low. but no bother, i’m not afraid of a few nippy evenings!

make sure you wet the babies head, it seems to be a tradition thats lacking these days.

yeah, make sure you get spannered with your mates while your partner gets stuck with the baby knowing she won’t be able to have a drink for several months

    and congratulations! 🙂

that rant was far too well crafted. and as for suggesting you’re beyond caring? well, it takes a pretty huge attention-hungry ego to post something like that! 😉
