Gone for the black ones from on-one after googling a few pics of the same frame with white and black forks.
I’ll let fate (on-one) decide whether its poploc or not!

hmm, wierd, didnt think they did as it doesnt say in the text, but looking at the pic its not got the normal compression adjust dial, it looks like the remote one….

    curious…..

hmm, coming round to the under floor heating idea now…

any recomendations of manufacturers to look for or avoid?

    I’m after cheaper solutions here!

under floor heating on concrete floor would need insulation mats under it, think the total cost wouldnt be short of amtico!

(would be toasty in the winter though….)

I’ll have a look into Karndean, I though it was a similar price to amtico but may be assuming wrong!

Pretty sure i saw some dare2b baggies in go outdoors the other day, they’ll beat internet prices by 10% if they’re the same ones and you get to try them on first!

thought so – think they’re the same, and they’re only £16.99 there too!

Sounds good, didnt want to be winding away at an adjuster at the bottom of a climb!

Aha, thanks for the reassurance! I asked because my inbred didnt seem to flex as much.
I like the feel of the frame, just wanted to make sure it was supposed to feel like that.
I’ve built it up for the IOM E2E later this year hoping that it would give a bit more comfort so I think it’ll serve its purpose very well!

    No probs, cheers guys.

The easiest way I found to make it flex was while riding stood up, pushing the saddle one way with my thigh while also pushing down on the corresponding grip.

Just seems a bit wierd. It hasn’t exploded yet though!

Well, if you remember can you give it a quick twist next time you’re on it?!?

I’m pretty sure its because of the length and thin-ness (!) of the top tube and downtube meaning they’re able to flex but just want to be sure!

Merlin still do the deals, I got one a couple of weeks ago.

You need to find a cassette, then there’s an option to add a chain into the deal.

Its cheaper than buying them separate, and there’s usually then 10% off on top of that. :D

edit: Here’s the Deore deal, think thats what you’re after?

I remember mine doing this while i was trying to get the pressure right.

IIRC, its due to slightly too much pressure, try letting 3-5psi out and see if that sorts it.

They seem to be VERY fussy about pressure, took me a long time to get it just right.

I’ve just started a new thread about this as it seems strange that a few STW users have been hacked this week!

Wierd, my googlemail was the same on tuesday.

Wonder if its STW related then?

I (yes, stupidly) did use the same password…… (not anymore)

    Anyone else?

Had the first ride on my sanderson breath at the weekend, well impressed with it.

Quality of the build finish is excellent.

I believe the life is the same frame but in 853?

A lot more compliant than my inbred was, think its down to the rather curvy rear stays.

Also, they are very long so good for if you’ve got a long torso / arms.

I’d highly recommend it, its worth looking at the breath as well as the life, the breath isn’t much heavier and certainly isnt gas pipe. It would also leave you a little cash to spend on other bits…

Think we’ll just go for it, only planning one night there anyway.

We’ll also be in our campervan so at least we can hide from the midge in a bit more comfort if the avon skin so soft doesn’t work!

If you mean the bite point is too far in the lever travel, just take the wheel out, pull the lever half way, release it and put the wheel back in. This will bring the pads closer together. If the bite point is still too far into the travel, repeat until its ok.
I have mine set up so that the pads are as close as they can be without causing drag on the disc.
If you go too far, just use something plastic (you should have got a black spacer thing with the brakes) to prise the pads apart and start again.

Mounty, did you camp or did you stay in a lodge?

Can’t see anything about camping there?

Edit: Just actually read the site, its clearly there! I’ll give them a bell.

    cheers!

Likely not, its a path on the ground with no public right of way as I understand it.
unless you’ve got permission from the land owner, or a sign that says welcome! (or are in scotland?) I think its a no-go.

£493 PCM is pretty good… If I opted out I think I’d get about £380ish…

If you don’t mind me asking, what type of car do you get for that rough value?

As vague as Polo / Golf / Passat / Phaeton(!) sized is fine!

    Hmm, interesting…

Would anybody be kind enough to measure the distance between the two clamp bolts?

I think they may fit my stroker trail brakes……

I’m liking the idea of just paying to hire one myself as required, didn’t think of this.

I thought I’d seen these somewhere else before…

Not sure I’d trust the quality of their pads based on their choices in other areas!

ah, thanks for the advice guys.

Not contacted the company yet as I’m awaiting the offer to come through (ive been told its on the way), but their standard terms for that grade include an allowance.

Oh, I used £600 as an example, the actual allowance is £493 PCM, how does that compare?

(its the first position i’ll have with the allowance so dont know anything about them!)

I’ll certainly check the conditions, as my only other vehicle is a 1996 VW transporter with a camper conversion, not exactly the most suitable work vehicle although bacon butties and tea followed by a nap while on site / after meetings may be an option!

I also thoroughly dislike anyone who takes part in “anecdotal top-trumps”, I blame the facebook generation. Nobody seems to undertake any activity for any reason other than to tell people about it anymore. And everyone has done something similar but slightly harder/longer/faster.

    Middle-aged women martyrs/gatekeepers.

You can find them in any company or public sector function.

    *back of hand on forehead*
“Oh this organisation would just collapse if it werent for me. No, I just must go in to work a process the PK245 forms, despite carrying every debillitating contagion known to man. If I dont, the company will have ceased trading by 4pm”

and then gatekeeping: You can propose the slickest, easiesit, lowest cost, new processes to an organisation, but if Judy, 58, Office Manager for Purchasing and Contracts Division doesnt give it the nod, then you can kiss it goodbye. If you dare try and implement it she will derail/sabotage/call the comrades to the picket until she has her own way…

They also dont like you riding on Bridleways.

I’m glad you’ve articulated this so well. My wife and I just call these people “Sue” as its usually their name. I find that they are also commonly found as the person that watches you using the self checkouts at the supermarket, then they have the special authority to fix the machine when it thinks you’re stealing a grape.

I wouldnt have the bleed nipple as the lowest point, I usually have it as the highest point of the caliper so that any bubbles in the caliper will come out when you’re sucking fluid (letting the bottle expand).

Edit: note i said high point of the caliper not the whole brake, as in orientate the caliper so the nipple is on top, not so that the whole caliper is higher than the master cylinder…

Wonder if the rotor has a thick spot? do you have access to an accurate measuring device? digital calipers? See if its thicker at the point it pulses.

Dont forget the lever flick and turning parts, I always seem to get a big bubble from the reservoir after turning the master cylinder and flicking the lever. I think this may be partly why some people struggle to get a good bleed on them.

These arrived yesterday, very very pleased with them.

As stated in the ad, they didn’t come with rotors or mounts. CRC have the mount bolts and plastic spacer washer things in though.

I was very happy to see that they did come with pads in though!

They look very nice in black too, much nicer than my other grey/gunmetal coloured ones. 8)

Just waiting for some hoses now and will get them sorted. :D
