I don’t think that the Shimano ones with a platform that your feet don’t rest on are a platform in the same sense. It just gives a bigger object to allow you to flip it level to clip in as MTB pedals don’t hang in the same way as road ones.

If you already have a good muscle mass “tone” in my interpretation is more often gained through fat loss, the muscles are there you just can’t see them.

    I’ve got a Pixel 3a, it’s cheap, it works, it’s great

Similar to me with a Pixel 3XL until this week when teams won’t run anymore because I don’t have the latest Android security update due to google stopping support.
Now wondering whether to spend AU$1000 on a pixel 6 just so I can use teams…

I’ll suggest a more complex setup, how about adding some logic (could be done with relays) so that if the solar is generating, the engine is off and the handbrake is on then you disconnect the engine battery?

Had a 3.0 z4, was the least reliable car I’ve owned. Replaced the steering column twice, shitty electric power steering with the binding motor and broken position sensor. Failed belt tensioner, faulty alarm. I definitely got a Friday car.
But that rear end with the fat tyres and the sound of it after I fitted a BMC CDA intake made it a real love/hate relationship.
I had the removable hard top too which was nice and weren’t too expensive to pick up on eBay.
Very often got hot hatches trying to race at the lights, could fend off most things. Went sideways around roundabouts, rwd with no weight in the rear and a heavy 6 pot in the front.
Also have the two stages of switching off traction control, with it on it could actually get some power down, first step would let it slip and slide a bit but stepped in before you did something dangerous, second step just disabled everything and let you decide how long you stayed on the road 😂

Those Toyota FJ things look pretty snazzy in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne…
In all seriousness though, I was having a chat with a bloke that has one and he said it could do everything a land cruiser could plus some more with its shorter wheel base. They might be a good more daily useable alternative to the Jimny? No idea on cost / fuel etc though.
I’m sure they also have suicide doors at the back!

Hang on if the answer isn’t land cruiser it’s Kluger 😁

Actually the AWD klugers aren’t that bad, never got one stuck on site and always managed to follow the Ford rangers wherever they went…

Loads of great replies above. I’m in a similar situation albeit with a 4 year old. My one thing to add is that you’ll never be a part time dad, you are both full time separated parents.

That new furphy lager is pretty good for a regular in the fridge type beer.
Where abouts in Vic are you? I think places like stomping ground are a bit cool for a lager but somewhere like moon dog would do one wouldn’t they?
Or just go daaaan the pab instead of a brewery and have a Carlton 😉

E10 is very common here in Oz. All cars I’ve had have had a sticker inside the fuel flap that says you can use E10.
General consensus here is that it gives slightly worse economy than even the usual 91 octane cooking petrol so the slightly cheaper cost is negated anyway.

Weird that I’d be horrified at my daughter singing that at school but when she asked me to teach her this after seeing it in the ABC every day I was more than happy to…

We are one, but we are many
And from all the lands on earth we come
We’ll share a dream and sing with one voice
“I am, you are, we are Australian”

I don’t think it’s about the song but whether you are actually proud of where you live and the people there.

This thread explains all the “look at me” loud bike exhausts that I assumed were there to satisfy attention craving bikers who didn’t get any attention as kids. In reality it’s because their exhaust silencers must be broken and because of their earplugs they can’t hear the noise so they haven’t found out yet.

Nah, it’s because as everyone knows loud exhausts are the coolest thing ever.

If only the bikey enthusiast MOT guy’s hearing wasn’t goosed from yrs of biking without earplugs we wouldn’t have to suffer the noise of middle managers blipping the throttles on their Harleys all weekend.

No MOT here in Australia hun.

As with the common theme above, I’ve got some custom moulded ones that are uncomfortable after a while so use Howard leight laser or max lites.
But since I fitted the decat and staintune can to my r1150r I embrace the noise 🤣

Certainly in the motorbike world there are concerns over vibrations damaging the image stabilisation in phone cameras, particularly iPhones I think. Quadlock have introduced a thing that goes between the phone holder and the mounting bracket to dampen it. May be worth some research.
I’ve got quadlock for my pixel 3xl onto my BMW R1150R which being a boxer does vibrate and wiggle a hell of a lot, no problems with my camera yet.

My brother is planning to move to Canada asap, and nothing about the current crisis has changed his mind. Parents. are getting on in years, which he’s never even mentioned – none of the rest of us will be able to afford the air fare to go see him, if it’s even possible. Feels like a big F U TBH.

Posting from Melbourne. A definite **** you to one side of our family.
Shame the other side has to suffer but our life is a million times better without the shit.

The other advantage to the Pi with a DAC hat is you can install something like raspotify and then you can open spotify on any device and play music on your stereo.
This may actually be an option within Volumio too?

There’s nothing wrong with Boardmans, and as far as I know Chris is still involved in their development isn’t he?
It used to be that they sold the lower end models through Halfords but sold the higher models through LBS, I remember when York Cycleworks used to sell them.

I have a 2016 Road Pro Carbon SLR with some nice 50mm hand built wheels. Plenty fast enough and when I did a few crits on it the bike certainly wasn’t the limiting factor.

In the UK peoples attitute towards it were kind of that it was a ‘Halfords bike’. Interestingly, since moving to Melbourne on a few occasions I’ve been stopped at traffic lights and people have come over to talk about the bike asking about it saying what a nice bike it looks like! Goes to show that if you take away pre-conceptions one persons ‘Halfords bike’ can be another’s boutique brand!

Think I had an old B&W one in my room from around 6, when I inherited a ZX81 and wanted to spend hours typing in lines of basic only to have to do it all again next time I wanted to use it as I didn’t have a tape drive.

Yes the C456 has a tapered head tube so you can fit tapered forks.

The bits you need will depend on what headset is currently in the frame…
If it’s a tapered headset with a reducer crown race then you just need a new crown race
If it’s a straight headset then you’ll need a new lower cup / bearing and crown race

If you’re not sure, drop the forks out and post a pic of your current crown race & lower headset.

Would that keep any manual rerouting? I’m sure in the past when I’ve planned a route and dragged the route to take certain roads, when I’ve then shared it it’s list that and reverted to the standard X to y route?

    Quick update on this…

I ended up winning the old skool hifi stuff from ebay, including a Yamaha a-320 amp. (also including a K-222 twin cassette deck, T-520 tuner and a Kenwood SL-PD827 5-cd changer!). He also threw in some Boston Acoustics A40 mk2 speakers. All for AU$120 (£65).

Now, when I got home I took the grilles of the speakers, and all of the foam on the woofers has perished and fallen apart – not surprising as when I took a woofer out the manufacture date stamped on it was 1980! Not a massive issue as they were free anyway, so I’ve ordered some new foam for them and will experiment in a DIY refoam. I did message the seller to let him know and he refunded me AU$60, meaning I got the lot for just over £30!
I then ordered the Pioneer SP-BS22-LR recommended earlier in this thread.

Once the speakers arrived, I set them up on my desk, which is fairly wide (3x 24″ monitors) but only ‘normal’ depth. This put them quite close to me. I connected them to the Yamaha amp, and connected my phone to the amp using my Cyrus Soundkey as a DAC.
They sounded horrible. I had that terrible ‘ive spend money and its a load of crap’ feeling. The treble was really harsh and the bass was severely lacking.

The harsh top end I put down to being sat too close to the speakers, so moved them to the other side of the room. Then when I looked at the frequency response chart for the Cyrus I noticed a really weird drop at the lower frequencies, not noticable through my headphones but I wondered if this is what was causing the lack of bass. So I dusted off the tuner that came with the old bits from ebay and sure enough, the bass was back if I used that as a source!
So I now had two problems, I couldn’t use the cyrus as it sounded crap through the amp, and also the amp was now at the other side of the room anyway so it was a PITA to get up to adjust volume etc. and I couldn’t connect my phone to it anyway.
Then I remembered I had an old Amazon echo dot in the garage, so I dug that out and connected it up to the amp. Bingo! Great sound (not sure what the DAC is in it but its certainly good enough for my purpose) and wireless operation, I can either shout at Alexa across the room, or use spotify connect to stream from my phone.

So, it took a while to get there but I’m happy now.

And I’ve got my next project sorted in the form of re-foaming the A40s, I might pair them with a Class D amp and use them in the garage.
