If your SPD’s are causing your knee pain or making pain worse stop using them.

It is the first thing it says in the paperwork.

You need to see a pro to have a look at your knee – if it is not an abvious problem (i.e. invisible symptoms) – maybe go straight to a sportstherapist, physiotherapist, chiropractor – or somebody who does knees / bio-mechanics for a living. If you can’t afford the £30 odd consultation – then head to your doctor for a referral to somebody.

If you don’t fix it up pretty quick – it will take longer to repair and could get worse (sometimes the knock-on effects of something like this can cause problems to propagate elsewhere). I am sure it will be OK in the long run – but see somebody who you can trust, and who knows about these things. Get well soon.

Go to Help -> About (or Press ALT+H, and then click About Internet Explorer). Note the exact version number, then type it in here – knowing that information somebody can probably advise you with some accuracy.

Proper scary photo – but a sound fella – guess judging people you don’t know is as flawed as they said it would be…

For the pedants with respect to “6lbs…” in my understanding it was referring to the “suspension units weight” – feel free to feed me to the bears if I was incorrect.

Anyhow incase you missed it the linked Mark Weir interview (inside original interview) was also a superb read.

Marketing induced feature creep? Restricted by the degraded availability of content (same as on the web).

Both BBC iPlayer and ITV player Interfaces look OK and work ‘fine’ at ~2mbits/sec.

ITV player brings adverts as you would expect. Guess that bandwith and network quality matters will impinge on the overall experience. No HD content appears to be present. Watched 5 minutes of The Saint with Roger Moore and 5 minutes of last weeks Click – before writing this for you.

On first impression it seems like BBC prefer variable bitrate content whereas ITV prefer initial loading lag (may be wrong) – at 2am though I doubt link congestion is much of a factor. Maybe that is all down to the encoding – it has been too long, and it is too late in the day.

Both channels looked perfectly watchable quality. Not tried the VOD stuff BoxOffice365 (ch907).

    On balance :

After excessively watching normal TV since birth I have rotted my brain beyond oblivion and the need for these new fangled features!

If you are fully paid up with your subs – there is a button in your profile settings – “Reduce Adverts”, which almost works perfectly.

I find that with tech descents I can slip off the back of the saddle OK and still shift weight around effectively – but when getting pretty much any air comes into the picture – std seatpost at xc height provides an unpleasant lack of ability to shift weight around – but maybe my I was not destined to fly at all that gracefully. :|

I noticed that Dropper posts got a lot of bad press for reliability not just the cost factor.

    Excellent!

No photos but I remember going to a race in Afan back early 90’s and my jersey was an AC/DC t-shirt with a pouch which was sewn on by my mam!!

Hmmm, it is a bit weird – the premium benefits are umm, a bit weird – the only benefit I have noticed (apart from the ability to view the mags) is the [P] attached to the username. I see at least 8 adverts on this page :-(.

While it is a job you can do yourself, if you get a proper qualified person in to do the job it won’t cost more than £150, and the results will be better than if you try to do it yourself.

Bit like DIY electrics vs work of a Time served electrician.

Things like quality editorial copy (content) are king, but the mechanics of these things is critical – else your efforts will be lost in the jungle that is the www.

Look into your local Federation of Small Business, and the other government agencies – while they may on some levels suck – truth is a lot of it is who you know and not so much what unfortunately. So a few free one day courses may lead to lucky connections (removes mystic meg hat).

    Good Luck!

P.S. A real Pro will not try to blind you will BS!

I have noticed that some of the trails on the deforested parts at Afan, some of the Skyline section, don’t seem to be bearing up to well now they are more exposed to the weather.

It is a little bit of everything really. Without the trees sucking up the water, more erosion will for sure occur – because the ecosystem has changed.

It does have advantages though because mother nature will quicly cut new paths down the hillsides – and new natural trails be born.

The pines do pop up fast, I think the english system psling mentioned of planting different types of trees around the borders and all that will for sure be adopted here soon enough – it is common sense. Monoculture is as we can see in this case a disease in it’s own right.

For me worst thing about the bald hills is that in the hot summer months – without the shade – it will be (I imagine) pretty intense in places (not been to afan for over almost two decades!!).

Get well soon Afan trees!! ;-)

Heli tape is rubbery plastic transparent tape (they put it on helicoptor rotors apparently – so the nats and bumble bees do not stick).

It protects covered areas well, but does wear though in high contact areas. Gunk ingress under edges and peelage over time as you would imagine.

It is quite hard to put on if you are unpatient – not so much if it is brand new stock / dead clean. They say use a hair drier to make adhesive set better – I can’t comment – I don’t own a hairdrier ;-(.

I got some 100mm by 2000mm strips off ebay, and 2m of thinner stips, carefully applied it to new whip, fork legs etc. just incase I ever have to part with it.

Is expensive to buy though cost in the region of £40 for 4m which was just about enough to cover the frame.

Alternatives products : “protection wax” – probaby cheaper.

When looking into various online documents on the topic of how to setup my bike properly – some sources suggested that slightly overstretching (i.e. fractionally too long a stem) can put just just enough pressure on the appropriate nerves in your back and that in turn make your hands numb/tingley – all without giving you any inclination the sensations originates from pressures the back (i.e. you do not necessarily have a sore/achey back).

Likewise, most sources made sure to note that there was a massive clump of nerves between your bunghole and genitals and if the nose of your seat is tilted upwards too much the excess pressure on that cluster of nerves can produce strange side effects.

I do not know if my advice is correct, I dont know much about these things (I am not a physiotherapist), but I hope you get well soon!

If the shop service is good then I am happy to pay a reasonable premium to support local enterprise – I like to think most people value quality local services and recognise true cost is not reflected in cover price alone.

I try to spread it around as much as possible – when it is practical.

Critically these days, the manufacturers stratified everything so that there are so many incompatible variants with components that you are forced to source some things online – because LBS will for sure not have required specific widget in stock.
