Nothing here…got stuff in the basket ready to go. I might use my Wiggle vouchers but they don’t have what I want right now.

Cheers for the posts, though I went before Christmas. Took my bike with Thomson for £30; rentals were 165E+ per week…

Trails were great but steep (up). Many great documented mapped local trails; so sure of actual permission for bikes on some. I’m told La Ruta Los Volcanos is meant to be the best track but not legal as its in a Nat Park.
Down from the top Volcano was about my best ride ever. I had a decent printed Red los Senderos map but no local guide, which would helped but hey, I did OK. Map available from tourist offices.

Of course these ads do help support these forum web sites….we’re not paying much for them ourselves!

Love the concept and mostly it works well fro not too much weight, though there is always some lateral play (It lasted better that than the Hammerschmidt which died without SRAM supporting warranty whwn seals failed).
Reverb went back 2 twice from 2011 on and got a new one in Aug 2012. Stickiness, bust barb and lateral/fore-aft play were the faults.
How do I tell if its 2nd gen?
BTW, it is easy to shorten the hoses?

Look like Wiggle have the Gore ones in L but not M.
I have had the Helly Hanson ones for a few weeks & would recommend these.

There are more AM specific types now too, as opposed to DH. Depends on what you do, how hot you care to get etc.

    See this thread

I’m likely to go for for Deviant II soon.

I flew with Thomson from MAN to La Plama Dec 2012. They were good; better than Air France or Easy Jet. I saw no mention of not putting other things in when I’d checked before booking. Took a soft bike bag stuffed with tools & clothes up to the limit of 23kg (+ a bit!). They didn’t ask or look inside & X ray scanner not fussed. All for £30 return.
Outwards they did weight all the luggage carefully, inc hand bags. Not much bothered at La Plama

I had my gall bladder out few years ago. Even with keyhole surgery, it was 2 weeks to get the 17 metal staples out. 4 weeks+ to get on a bike and I’d lost some muscle tone, especially in the 1-pack area.
Best of luck in getting about ASAP.

Been using POC Index DH for a bit now; good when you catch a tree. Like the single piece hard knuckle protector.
Got a replacement pair under warranty, as right cuff came away. A tight fit even in the large & I don’t have big hands.
CRC don’t them any more and not sure if POC Index Flow Glove is as good, with a 2-part knuckle piece.

    Anyone else?

Deffo go though Harden Moor/St Ives and there some good track up from Cullingworth. That could link with LL canal at Bingley. Shibden Valeey sounds good too but I’ve not been.

There are 2 centre pin diameters in use: 2.1 & 2.5mm (plus different barrel lengths). Any doubt, get both as they’re cheap enough. I use Rapid but they don’t seem to have cable connectors right now.

Did you try CTC/BC? They include some really useful benefits for members and might have links to other underwriters for more cover.

    Going west:
Calverley, Buck & Esholt Woods all good spots and near canal.
Open spaces: Baildon Moor (my home), Ilkley Moor(when dry) Harden/St Ives.
Got a friend who swears Shibden Valley (between Halifax & Shelf)is great biking too.

On the two Reverbs I’ve had (and returned for warranty replacement) the hose kinked badly at the termination to the post. With the hose guide and on a FS, it seems like a weak point in the design, so if it was me I’d look at something stronger, so likely not thinner.

Not sure if a new RS design fixes this though?

I tried a pair from Wiggle but didn’t find them comfortable. Tried Endura MT500 too ( returned now as faulty) whic were ok but less coverage. Settled on Nukeproof now.

Mech hanger is brittle diecast so look at BETD for CNC stock.

Many good things to about Canyon.
I was between S & M on the web guide for my Nerve AM HS in 2011. Went for S which is light & manoeuvrable (within rider’s v. limited skills)…not looked back on the product.

Do search the forum for other posts on Canyon; good product & value and sometimes for support. Probably much the same balance as as others but with online pricing; just wld want you to be informed before you consent…….

Andyn, In a sales environment & with a good manager, I can see it could really help in giving clarity within a team. In our engineering/technical company, some issues were more complicated/wider/long-term and management did not tened to have either the insight, time or continuity to deal with it, so PM began to obscure these. Still better to have a PM system in place than not though!

We had this as a paper system in a growing global electronic company. It was good at first as it made the serious conversations more likely to happen. You even got to know objectives other than “design stuff; ship stuff; hope it doesn’t come back”. Only a bit of form filling & you had a record, with training needs too.
After 5 years or so had a seminar from a nice bubbly person from HR on the how the new process was going to be so much better now it would based in the std Oracle module. Almost in tears after when team leaders & managers reacted to the demo of shite user interface, process etc. Cost an army of Oracle contractors to customise Oracle so we could all tick the boxes.

Spent 2 weeks in La Palma over the hols. Fantastic off road biking! The Ruta de los Cresteria to Tazacorte is one of best ever rides.

I have a new Endura Convert that I’ve always liked. Endura durability seem to be not good but they sent me a new one when I sent the old back for some repairs (zip & seams gone); it was 4+ years old so, so good support.

    Getting another Gore Alp-X 2.0.

I know its not cheap even on sale but the quality and breathability are best I’ve found much better than the Convert or RaceFace Aquanot

Yes, I’ve got 2×10 & MRP chain device. Frame mounts are old ISCG spec but it has a “Hammerschmidt” adapter plate that is ISCG05. All std as far as I can tell.

I’ve got one on the drive side only on mine now with a new E2 type FR (Shim M985?), but unlike yours this 2×10 RaceFace Next and MRP chain guide though.
I don’t recall the 3 manuals agreeing so had to firtle the chain guide wheel spacers so chainline might not be optimal.

    Not sure if that helps….

I use Mallets on all my 3 bikes and compacting was still a bit of a problem, tho maybe not as bad as SPD. Will try GT85.

Paragon have good prices, a quality range of products & good service. they’re on eBay. They have thick clear and a carbon look tape that I liked especially; also do a semi-matte to that I couldn’t find anywhere else.

Speedsport promotions (eBay) also have good product.

I guess I count as old-mannish (but no beard), even on a FS. Deffo not in Ronhill…
Too old for what’s in fashion or not and this forum is only about rational, objective discussion isn’t? Isn’t it? Oh….

Still really like my 2008/9 Rock Springs; the high BB suits West Yorkshire. Pivots still good after 3 years etc

Nokian Hakka tungsten studded UST for snow & ice. They are brilliant AND, sorry – as a PSA, I have pair for sale on the other forum:
