CRC didn’t used to do this but its not reasonable, even its is not predictable. I had this when I sent some Endura stuff back as clearly faulty but it was all sorted with refund in ~2 wks. Other things which I thought were less straightforward were done straight away…the end results with their return policy is very good IME and one reason why I still use them more than LBS & other onliners.

I was reminded recently that the Japanese Imperial army took Malaya & Singapore in 1941 by the infantry advancing very quickly using using bikes.

Also, Peugot bikes were the main form of transport on the Ho Chi Mihn trail which supplied the NVA & Viet Cong into South Vietnam despite saturation bombing by the USAF.

Ok, so not all bikers are the good guys…

Good to hear these real-life Sugru experiences.
Just got this FB share from #3 son on this self-curing silicon rubber:

Had a good 2 1/2 hr wander around Baildon Moor which is the driest for ages (6months??). Its a great time of year to be out there, before the bracken chokes many paths and visitors litter the place up.
However, I had to WALK it as my back is is spasm following a coughing injury…

I took my 44 off on my old Handsome Dog and changed worn middle ring to 36t. I found I needed to drop the FD down to keep the chain on both rings. It wouldn’t go down all that far before fouling the chainstay & bottle bosses but still helped even with 10+mm gap on the 36. New FD wld be OTT.
Rear mech was knackered so went to med cage & shorter chain. Also helped a bit. Obviously, adjusted FD limit screw too.
New ground clearance is useful too.

    +1 for Endura 3/4 Thermolite Padded Bib-Knickers

Zip allows widdling with reduced contortions.

I’m told there are various new therapies available which might help with this, and with related events. Shall I forward the emails from my spam folder? 😉

Endura MT250 & MT500 also brilliant. I use MT500 baggies for water resistance on top.

In line with other posts, I’ve had quality problems with most of my Endura kit but NOT these.

I started a related thread month ago which had some good comments:
    http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/am-full-face-helmet

Question is whether a FF however open/well ventilated is want you’d want for your AM riding.

I’ve been there. It feels weird not to be practising your profession but it was one of the best things thats happened to me. I have my own consultancy now (electronic hardware) and was back on contract at my old company 6 wks later. Less hours, less responsibility and several times the money, and no “politics”. win win.

Oh yeah, and I can spout off here whenever I want….

My Marin did that. I cleaned out the grease inside the seat tube (oops) and used anti-slip stuff instead. With a wider tighter (QR) seat clamp it was fine.

I did the Mastiles Lane climb with the BW down to Arncliffe this AM. Some mud but mostly frozen; pretty well perfect!

Mastiles might be a good climb up for beginners; it seems to never end & its not full “off-road” but the going is good and it gains you height. Decent run down to the road, though the best/steepest bits were covered in soft snow.

The Canyon ones are brittle diecast. I got CNC alloy ones from BETD; much better.

Have a look at the other posts about nerve AM angle headsets. I found that I could swap Works Comp bearings with the Acros ones. So I guess it’s a standard part.

Did two hours around Baildon Moor then bombing down to Shipley Glen coming back up along Baildon Bank. Cold easterly but warmed up quick with two layers. Ground brilliantly firm and mostly icey.

Only downside was some lads (!) have been digging jumps in the bellpits on the more near Glovershawre Quarry. We’ll have to have a gentle word ……

Yes, I’dalways go for sub titles over dubbed.
I think my my first experience of a dubbed film was in Lyon, France many years ago when a friend suggested we go see some new flick called “Le Padrone”. Turned out to be “The Godfather”…..

Derek Jarman’s “Sebastianne” was in Latin with sub titles. “Tu illegitimati” popped up as “you bast**d ” and “tu Oedipus” as “you motherf@@ker” ….

Screwfix do a kit too. I thought it was waste of cash but the odd sizes have been really useful:

Go a kit off some ebay shop v cheap too.

CRC price isn’t bad until you look at http://www.bike-discount.de. Like the man said, why not get the performance version for 3euros more? Delivery is 6euros; still ~£30 less than UK.
Ordered mine and should be here this week to replace the very good Canyon std issue tubeless rear Nobby Nic & Fatal Bert. Will put these on th 2nd bike when the Nokian ice tyres can come off.

So did you pick up the bike so you could return it to its owner?

    mrelectric

I got one spare hanger FOC with my 2011 Nerve AM HS and ordered 2 more. All brittle die-casts tho, got better CNC ones from BETD.

See previous posts re mixed service experiences (as above, not sure if its any different elsewhere in the biz), pivot bearing problems etc. I got a new frame under warranty, so they made a good effort really.

Headset is good; put in a Works offset and original Acros was perfect.

A really good bike, & good value.

They have just expanded the UK centre so that might help support, if you need it.

Yes, well mental. And I thought the run down to Puerto de Tazacorte was iffy (all the gear an no …).

TF all the hikers got out the way. No dogs either, not sure a leash/trip wire across the trail would have go down well… oh…

The Grangers spray stuff has worked well for me before. Not sure I’d call it fully waterproof like Gore Tex but its goes a long way.

Needed a tumble dryer with low heat or coolish iron etc to set it. Use the Grangers cleaner or non-bio detergent at 30deg to clean.

You might need extra length say for a angled head set. My choices were a bit ‘cos bottom cup was not zero stack and I didn’t have the 20mm or so on top for a tight grip. Got 1.0 not 1.5 deg cups.

Also, there are lots of 2nd hand forks but with 160-180mm cut that severely reduce their usefulness and saleability.

    “Bent mech hanger ? “

Yup. Tips on how to check this reliably would be a good PSA, again.

I tried the prototype and have been very happy. Steerer tube was too short so used original Acros on top for now; zero stack due soon to finish the job for 1.0 deg or 1.5 actual with raising by external lower race. Acros bearings fit fine too.

I have Topeak 19 which has all the driver bits, tyre and chain tool you should need but I DON’T have pliers or a knife. I’d like to fill that hole but Leatherman (-men?)don’t look light and £90 seems a lot:
    http://www.leatherman-store.co.uk/multi-tools-c27/wave-multi-tool-stainless-steel-p467.

Maybe a spare pair of workshop pliers might be OK at less weight. Even an old Army Swiss knife…
