    Bump.
    Anyone seen this problem?

Thumbs up for the title. It is meant to be fun.

    Isn’t it??

I was between Med & small on their web site model (which I reckon is good)for my Nerve AM 9 HS 2011 model. Went for the small for more control; no regrets.

Their exclusions about being locked up when unattended are pretty standard now (and perhaps common sense?) even on my home policy. They hiked up my excess to £250 after a chav break-in at work and a claim…

So by being on it, it tells the watching world that you are a serious rider and have some sort of decent bike. It logs your routes, leading to and from where you live, so chavs know exactly where to thieve one or more of your babies from. Simples.

Pawls do engage better now but ratchet & ring sub-assy slips within the freehub shell! A bit poor really but not the weather at all it would seem….
Anyone seen this? If not; this is a PSA.

Needs a new hub body. I’m told for DT Swiss AM1800 the Onyx/Cerit fits onto 4.7mm needle cage.

Good point. Public RoW are the normally the local Council’s responsibility to maintain.
I’m a member of the Bradford RoW Forum (soon to become the Local Access Forum) and blocked, degraded/eroded paths are regularly brought to the attention of the Council services and action is taken. These are raised by forum members and by the public direct by email & phone.

I would say that the horse riders, ramblers and cyclists work pretty well together with Council and landowners. Much as out and about really….

I got one of these for $8.20 and without fitting it yet, it seems OK:

I read the OP simply as saying it would be nice if these riders had given the same thought to their impact on the trial under the conditions as the bikers had.
I’m often impressed with the awareness & concern by MTBers about riding in the wet. We can only help to inform others on this.

    For example:

As Willber, though it is easier to say “I’m Ok with crashing” when you have some pads and decent helmet. It doesn’t usually hurt that much anyway.
Someone will mention sessioning as training; all good stuff.

There was a top Family Guy episode where Peter strokes his chin, goes ” What the hell are they doing there?”, then puts them down the front of his trousers…

I still really like my Handsome Dog XC01 frame. All-Terrain Cycles (my LBS) do them. last time I looked there they were £99 new. Not the most recent design but work perfectly well.

Make sure you get the correct turnoff at Long Preston; it’s the second left not the first one with the sign posted Gisburn! Check the map.

For newer brands what about Dacia, Hyundai, Ssyonyang?

    Leaving out Kia maybe…

I should add as a PSA that I think the misassembly of the lower drive side BB bearing insert/sleeves contributed on my bike to the early bearing failure and play and that to the chainstay crack…… so you might want to check that pivot spot.

    couldashouldawoulda

It was a reet pig at first as the assembly was not to the dwg as L & R sides were swapped, but managed it with blind bearing pullers, circlip pliers and small chisel (and a hammer….funny that). Its a blur now..

Found the right spherical bearing parts at Simply Bearings but than got new set FOC.
    From Canyon assy dwg 2012:
    Use the following bearing
    – GE8C of JNK (Japan)(original bearing)
    – GE8-UK of FAG (DE) (Canyon# A1011364)

    So £9.80

I like them to ride but sidewalls are not great. Lots of rock scars looking near the bone. Patched one gash and moved them to 3rd bike.
Using Nobby Nic and Hans Dampf now on main FS.

Strip down done and still no better so will get the 2 pawl & spring kit from CRC; cheap @7 quid and comes with grease too.
    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=81209

I’m hoping the freehub body is Ok though it looks a bit marked on the inside.
Anyone here know where to get one please?

    mrelectric

As noted on other threads on the STW massive (brain the size of a planet), I found little sign of grease in the bearings so packed my new one with the stuff (Park PolyLube if I recall). I had to escalate this to Canyon but got first a bearing kit then a new frame FOC so felt well supported in end, like @skeets.

    Hope those assembly dwgs help.

As PeteP. £216 seems steep; though labour at £65 not too high.

Original quote from Canyon Oct 2012: “we can supply a complete set for approximately £50 plus shipping.”

You might not need to do them all. The chainstay ones would take most wear IME.

As posted in several places here, 😆 I have a 2011 Nerve AM. Though really happy with the bike, I did have a number of problems with it, inc drive side chainstay bearing completely gone, possible as the bearing seat sleeve insert was fitted on on the wrong side.
I got a full set FOC from Canyon UK (good support) and fitted them myself (got the bearing removal tool from Superstar). The other pivots were OK.

The assembly dwg listed all the bearing types; were all std and can be bought from a number of places discussed widely on STW. Ask Canyon for pdf or I can email my 2011/2012 copies.

My Canyon went to their uk office first, not direct. That added a few days.

    Cheers all.
So it needs a strip out with a check for water and excess grease, and possibly renew lube with light teflon grease.

Pretty sure I used the Finish Line wet lube:
    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=1041;
so may be go for a lighter lower viscosity type if I can’t easily find the DT Swiss stuff. I’ve got F Line Teflon dry which should work?

Also have Park Polylube, Stendec easyglide waterproof and Finish Teflon grease

I use Mallets on all 3 off road bikes.
Sorry for a shameless plug but this might just; I have these FS:
Shimano PD-M545 SPD pedals. Unused and as new. Cro-Mo axle; classic tough off-road pedals.
RRP: £70; £32 pair posted UK.

They’ve got strings vests! How retro can you get!
We know a song about that, or at least Viv Stanshall did.

I was looking in the underwear section for commando pants but they must be out of stock.

As this is a bike forum ( mostly) if you went for the woollen tartan kilt would it be acceptable to wear a padded liner?

Depends on the hanger material too; the diecast ones from Canyon are quite britlle; CNC from BETD better.

I could do with some hack tool to check if it is bent while its on the bike. Sometimes the shifting goes awry and you cant see properly if the hanger really is a little twisted or bent.

Not sure if I’m answering the OP question exactly but I’ve got one of these on my XTR 960 c/set and it works well:

Not sure the std compliance tells the whole story, but I took a steer from the other comments thanks to the miracle of the interweb.

I was looking for a light breezy AM unit not DH (I have 661 something for those rare for me events) so didn’t go into further.

Lots on other threads on this…

Plea from Knacker ST trail chief “the longer the trail has a chance to settle, the longer it will last before repair as the surface consolidates and compacts before tyres try rip it up and may it loose etc”

Even from CA, USA got here quick and cheap. Decent gear; you need to reuse the end caps if I recall.

I passed on the Parachute and have just ordered a Deviant II 2013. Looks a whole lot better IMO and gives more protection too, but its not a full DH FF.
