Having knackered Fox stanchions twice using THE or Neoguards, I’ve bought several, plus the bum brollie.
    Cheers

Finally all frozen so we can around rather better.
Out last night on Baildon Moor on the Marin with my Nokian Hakkas fitted (reckon to be much lighter than others). Absolutely brilliant stickyness; even made the slick patches on the road fun!
Second best ride of the year (numero uno was ride down from Rocque de los Muchachos on La Palma; a bit warmer though).

Why not get a mix from CRC to try? Distance selling allows free return on items that doesn’t fit (and other reasons).
Good prices on some models right now.
I’m looking to go for an Archi-Enduro.

Congratulations! I run my own engineering (electronic) consultancy as a ltd company.
Yes, corporate governance legislation & expectations have become more demanding for both executive & non-exec directors, especially for board members. CBI or IOD should be able to help, or specialist solicitors (should be FOC).

I agree with the above; not being 100% clear on responsibilities & expectations is asking for trouble.

Good to know you are OK.
I would suggest you take your time in assessing the damage to yourself & the bike. I felt OK after I was hit when a car pulled in from of me and wheeled the bike home with tacoed front wheel (having politely declined the offer of a lift from the woman driving, I wasn’t that daft!), but the concussion and neck pain kicked in overnight and I was in bed for 4 days, with physio lasting almost a year. LBS also advised NOT to use bike as bars, fork & frame structural damage could not be seen.
CTC solicitors (Russell Jones & Walker) did a great job to recover costs (see earlier post). I am not of course advocating claiming for anything other not legitimate.
    All the best!

I got fed up with glasses and contacts and tried all the over-goggles that were around a few years ago. Went OTT for a lens exchange in both eyes with Ultralase (this is more than laser surgery). Never looked back!

I tried POC, Endura & Nproof.
Just sent back Endura MT500 for failed stitching (typ. E quality??). These were comfy but will be using the Nukeproof Critical from now:

    Comfortable and better coverage.

I remember my Nokian Hakkas being pretty good on roots year before last. Fantastic on the ice & compacted snow.

Sorry for the plug, but I have a new pair available FS (see it as PSA!)

Good discussion; cheers all. I’m clearly getting cautious in middle age. The breathability seems to be a personal experience.

“The bloke in that Archi Enduro thread” – the main jaw damage (ouch) was from the stump or branch wasn’t it? Full DH MIGHT have blocked that; might not.

Like the look of the Cratoni on the CRC link. Light too.
Both the Urge models are options then. (its got most of my surname across it too, but we only make rational choices on this forum, don’t we?)

I’ll take the Xen & the 661 to Stainburn this PM. I usually manage an off or two there…

    I have that too:
2 things: add heatshrink tubing on the (Left side) spring to stop it hitting lower’s inner walls. Cut down inner tube might do too. This was a big improvement. Lots of posts on this on the interweb.

Second problem is when you compress or rebound, its sounds as if there is few mm gap at spring top. Might try some spacer changes or a washer.

I had a old set that came with old Aerozine (now discontinued by SS, probably due to poor design & quality) and the rings were pretty soft. Shifting was average. I bought hard anodised Middleburn rings after that which lasted longer.

Humm, a mixture here of consideration & sense towards fellow outdoors people and show of MTBer sense of entitlement.
The OP was a polite question from a fellow path user (and premium member so probably NOT a troll) who happens not to on a bike at the time in question. I have some serious lights for off-road but do try hard to not blind others; just seems like a basic courtesy to me.
While you not likely to be mown down, all users should be able to feel safe too. I’d like it too if nearly invisible dog walkers didn’t spread their leashes across the path but our countryside is a shared space and we are still building some sort of etiquette up, together.

An eye for an eye and the whole world goes blind.

    DDay,
All sensible replies here. Best of luck. Worth contacting council rights of way/recreation/woodlands managers. They might know more on ownership, arch./wildlife protection issues (quite important) and if any track might fit in with local access plans.

Very little legal recourse but we have hearts & minds to win too, where very possible, on these shared routes. Apart from the antiquated law and arbitrary labelling, in practice, a Definitive Map recording designation as a FP does not mean other “higher rights” don’t exist, and often do. (See the excellent Byway & Bridleway newsletter). Being armed with the facts can calm a situation.

I’ve a Canyon Nerve AM 2011; no problems with HS at all. Am testing the new Works angled ones (see other thread). Acros bearings were perfect and a std size. Probs were with the pivot bearing, with a distinct lack of grease in the one’s in the replacement frame; just regreased these before assembly..

I went without for years but caved in the find the Superstar one very useful an good value. Just used it to remove and grease all the pivots on my new Canyon FS; invaluable.

There is a PVC cleaner that works well; I think is diluted acetone, so take care or it’ll dissolve the lot.

I had been very happy with the Nerve AM 9 HS I got in July 2011, and Canyons’s Uk support.
I took the shock off for service and found the bearings were shot after less than a year, with play esp. in the lower chainstay drive side main pivot. I sent the frame back from them to check this(and take off the rusted Hammerschmidt for SRAM to look at & decline a warranty claim; another story). Canyon said it was all in spec and returned it after 4 weeks or so (!)but then sent me a set of new bearings FOC. When I got it back and spent hours checking the bearings & putting on new heli tape, I found a slight crack starting in the lower drive chain stay. The lower pivot assembly also did not match the technical drawing they’d sent also, which the might have contributed, as may have the lack of grease, for which there was little evidence.
At this stage they offered to send me a new 2012 frame (in another colour, but hey), which is a fair and reasonable response. I need to destroy the old one.
I will be adding grease to ALL the bearings in this one for UK conditions. Just need to find what type of heli tape looks any good on an anodised mid-matte black frame!

Humm, they are not always very responsive, though can be helpful in bursts.
When you do get it, check the pivots (and headset) are properly greased.

    Hock,
I’ve got a pair of Panaracer TrailRaker in VGC FS here. Well recommended:
Folding bead 2.1″. Excellent for mud & wet trails.
Little use and loads of tread left. Label included with spec details.

One tyre has slight sidewall scuffs; minor.

Pics ready to send! Email in profile

CRC: £28 each; £40 pair posted UK.

Post or collect from Baildon, Shipley.

    PayPal prefered please.

    Cheers,
    David

    Cheers gents.
This is a Nerve AM 2012 with black gloss decals/lettering on black mid-matte anodised finish.
I’ve used the Paragon heli tape in gloss and it is very good but their matte stuff doesn’t conform to this “grainy” finish. Gloss would probably look worse, but could do the downtube.
A few coats of varnish might do it.ha-ha..or Yorkshire mud.
    Any other recommendations?

I tried the Fusion first from Wiggle but sent it back and got the Alp-X instead. Fusion was light & high quality but I wanted the hood and features and somehow the fit was better. Didn’t ride with it though as I’d decided to return it but the fabrics seems very similar so expect both to have very good breathablity.
There was another thread on this recently and I agree the quality of Gore is ahead of the Endura.
Other thread mentioned Paramo etc but Gore from Wiggle was an easy choice.
I have a RF Aquanot too which looks good but doesn’t breath well.

As well as the health benefits (direct saving sick pay) there are productivity gains (oxygen running round the brain king of thing).

There were company tax incentives too for secure storage, changing, washing & drying facilities. Used to be easy to check these on the HMRC web site.
