went for my first ride on mine over the weekend. i tie wrapped the lever to the bars over night before the ride – and that just about got rid of all the spongy feeling. the rest of the spongyness had gone within 25mins!

great breaks and the stock pads were good too. i actually like the look of them whcih is a bonus!

just buy the proper tool, cost about £8 off ebay and saves loads of hassle. its false economy bodging it, you wont be able to use/sell the headset again, plus you have it for future jobs

the relaiblity of the pace/dt swiss forks has always worried me – especially for the money. you thought about the new 09 revs? 140mm and they seem very solid. i love mine, and they arent even the QR15 version

ive jsut finished building a rigid commute/winter/mess about bike from spares and its lots of fun. had a practice run over houndkirk moor t’other day. definately different but not bad, took some getting used to after my hardtail with 140mm forks on!

its also v-braked up (old school DX!) and 1.95 tyres! it felt bloody fast now i think about it!

    roll on dusty trails!
