Grievoustim – thanks for the info, we have been thinking about doing the odd 'non-trail' cross country biking. So it looks like trail saturday and cross-country sunday.

DeVs – would indeed like to do mach3 but don't think we'll have the time.

Turns out Cli-machx is closed weekend for some motorsport debacle.

So going to do Betws-y-Coed (Marin and Penmancho) saturday and give Mach 2 a blast sunday morning.

    Cheers for the update BT.
Didn't want to drive 4.5hrs to find trials closed for an event.
EDIT: TRAILS. Although old bikes should be a crime against evolution and therefore worthy of a trial. 😉

Cheers for the feedback already. 🙂

We are planning on getting there mid-morning (wherever 'there' ends up being) on the saturday, stay overnight then get a trail in sunday morning.
Need to leave around 11am sunday due to other commitments. So a bit short and sweet really.

Not sure CYB will be an option because of this. Also been to CYB and wanted to try new stuff this weekend!

Me and a mate were planning on going to Betws-y-coed this weekend.

Does anyone know if the OWMTBC will affect those wanting to use the trails, but not involved in the old stuff? – parts sectioned off etc.

Exactly Pawsy, all questions I've asked myself.

Sadly now everyone I see is a bike thief unless proven otherwise.

    surely new everything is best?

those iron horse bootlegs at crc look tremendous for the money.

And if I had a money tree that would be the course I'd take. Also like the idea of doing a build rather than off the peg.

I was thinking as above – anything with bearings or seals probably best to get new.

If full susser perhaps the shock as well??

Srry odannyboy, was a very emotional time, then your thread appeared.

Looked at ebay – frame size on mine was XL, but might be listed wrong. Only real distinguishing features I had on mine were DMR V12 mag flat pedals in white.

But as I had hardly used it there wasn't many 'battle scars' that make it that noticable unfortunately.

With reference to the gloss black question……………I reckon it might be that the object is black because it aborbs all natural daylight (from the sun….just in case) which is made up of the colours in the spectrum.

The gloss effect comes from having a material finish that reflects un-natural ambient light from bulbs etc which do not have a short enough wavelength (i.e high enough energy) to penetrate the objects surface and so reflect back.

I don't really think that those at Cern need worry about the STW colony taking there jobs any time soon! 😉

None of you have been to Thetford Forest then, where black is either red or blue, depending where you come from.

    😛

Live in Thetford, the answer was there in front of me all along.

Was being pedantic, if you were to break down time so that you are not measuring 'frames per second', but more like milliseconds (or smaller), then movement could be broken down to a serious of, albeit miniscule, stills.

In the same way that a circle or arc is made up of many tiny straight lines!

Edit: well put Big John more coherent than my wild ramblings but is what I was getting at.
    Edit: you to Graham S

House of the rising Sun – the Stranglers, had a nice relativley easy chord progression.

Then every Oasis song………I say every, like status quo, once you've learned about 4/5 chords yo ucan play every one of their songs. (should you want to of course)

It is absorbing all the other colours (energy) that are not reflected. Energy is transferred, not created or destroyed so has to be absorbed with the only frequency not being absorbed is reflected and it is that enrgy (colour) is displayed.

(Sits back knowing someone will in fact prove that energy can be both created and destroyed in equal measure)

Similarly, how does watching a film look like it is moving when it is, in fact, just a series of still frames.

Surely realtime life is just a series of stills! 🙄

Therefore black objects are bursting full of colour. If you where to cut it open there would be a rainbow running through it like a stick of rock. 😉

Graham S – exactly what in a terrible way I was saying – the non-reflected colour (or energy if you will) has to go somewhere.

Wet paint smells for instance not sure if its alive or decaying. Technically due to the earths rotation everything is in constant movement so you may be on to something with that one. 🙄

I appreciate that black is an absence of reflected light and because of this is not considered a colour, but as it's absorbing all the light (colours) in the spectrum, does that mean that technically black objects themselves are the most colourful………….they just don't reflect any color? 😯

As you walk into a room with no light and close the door, what light is being abosorbed so as to produce the non-relfection of any colour. Is it the same answer for shadows. So something black is either absorbing all the colours of the spectrum of available light or there is no available light and it is just black.

JT – eat your own poo?!?!?

It was my understanding that, unlike some animals like rabbits, there was a chemical in our own faeces that makes us spontaneously vomit so as not to accidently ingest any. (Contrary to what you may or maynot have seen on the web!)

Afterthought: I would not liked to have been part of that experiment! 😯

Gotta say when I had a trek through wheelies (insurance replacement) drove to south wales to pick it up.

Live in east anglia (near norwich) fun 10 hour round trip that was!

LBS seemed to think that companies (trek etc..) stopping their bikes being mail order meant that big discounts couldn't be given on the bikes.

Said he'd cancelled around £400k worth of trek stock when their rules first came in!

Some chap at work said that when computers came in to general office use it was widely beleived that the same amount of work would be done but in less time, giving everybody more spare time.

Seems a little naive now, but seems like a viable option to me. ❗

I'm sure its a famous one:

'it's not the hours you put into the work, it's the work you put into the hours'

Funny when said I'd be prepared to work twice as hard and do half the hours I normally work for the same salary they didn't seem to keen!

    Back to coasting I suppose!

I wish my 2 bikes stolen in the last 6 months had been taken by one of these guys. 😆

Surely the police could have a dedicated Ebay/Gumtree unit – recovery of stolen bikes would go up 10 fold I reckon! 💡

As I suspected might happen. No-one actually disagreeing with my point, just criticising my reading material……..interesting. 🙄

That's right Stu…….its the game where players spend the whole game pretending not to be injured, as opposed to football which tends to be quite the opposite.

Philby……… you're practically proving my point (was that the itention?), so tactics, territory, quick shifts in possession not exciting?

I am sure 6 tackles and a try (usually kick) for 80minutes is not repetative or mind numbing at all. 😕
