Another plus one for the Garmin Vivoactive HR here. They’re a great price at Halfords at present, particularly if you’ve got BC discount on top.

There have been a few threads recently mentioning the 29er version of the Orange if you have a search around. I for one ended up buying one and I believe a couple of others on here have too.

I’m 6’4″ and an XL Clockwork 129S seems a great fit although the geometry isn’t quite the same as the P7.

Dodd near Keswick. 2.7 miles at 10% from the bottom to the summit.

I bought one. XL seems a good fit for me at 6’4″.

I’ve put a couple of pics on my Hardtail Choice thread.

Very pleased so far though haven’t ridden it enough to give any detailed feedback. Dropper was a bit stiff at first but seems to be loosening up. Other than that the bike seems really well put together and looks great IMO.

Plenty of forest roads in Whinlatter that would be ok on a gravel bike.

Also forest roads round and up Dodd.

There are also some decent articles online explaining what the credits scenes actually show as they do flash past rather quickly.

Yes, a short montage of flashback scenes during the credits and then a final shot after the credits.

In terms of acting, production and script this was a superior piece of television.

The last 15 minutes or so leading up to the big final twist did feel a little rushed but the mid credits scenes were suitably brutal.

How did you manage that? Are you sure you’re talking about the same jacket as everyone else?

Some good deals around at the moment on the Genesis Zero Disc framesets which are lovely.

They’re pretty much all I wear for work. They are available online with 35 and 37 inch leg lengths so ideal for the lanky among us.

I avoid the cheapest ones (the £99) suits as they do look a bit cheap and nasty.

The suits priced around £149 are dependable choices and last really well. Tailored or slim fit are the best to go for – the regular fit are pretty shapeless.

They regularly have 20% off (including at the moment) so always worth waiting for one of those promotions to come round.

Particularly nice are the England suits they did for the World Cup football. The most recent versions are a lovely high quality navy cloth. Don’t worry – they don’t have Three Lions blazer badges or anything like that. Just a discreet star logo on the inside pocket.

Patagonia do some good ones, Nano Puff etc. Both down and synthetic. Pack away nicely into one of the pockets.

Wouldn’t bother with Penrith. You’re better off having a drive over Kirkstone to Ambleside if you want to go to a town.

Walk up Hallin Fell is dead easy. Place Fell excellent if you want to be slightly more ambitious.

Couple of pubs at Glenridding and you can get the boat over to there. Few more at Pooley Bridge down at the bottom of the lake.

You can combine a visit to Aira Force with a walk up Gowbarrow Fell.

    Ours is very patchy.

Ironically the shaded, mossy end came through the dry spell pretty unscathed whereas the other end took a battering.

Brimstone at the Langdale. Eat in the hotel one night and at the nearby Britannia pub another.

Some other good suggestions have already been made. You could also look at Holbeck Ghyll, Sharrow Bay and Armathwaite Hall.

If you download the Viewranger app you can purchase a variety of maps within the app which you can then have on your phone/tablet and use with GPS tracking.

There are 1/25000 maps for individual provinces or walking maps of particular areas such as the Costa Blanca.

    Further update…

    The Orange arrived yesterday.

All credit to Sunset Cycles. The bike was very well packed and set up. Once unpacked all that was required was attaching the handlebars and front wheel.

The shop threw in an Orange chainstay protector and also set the bike up tubeless for me for a reasonable fee.

For anyone considering one of these, I was pleased to find the bike came with WTB trail boss and riddler tyres. The listed spec for the bike usually seems to suggest it comes with Vittoria tyres although the pictures always seem to show WTB tyres.

Very pleased with the look of the bike and the size seems spot on. Fitted an RRP Enduroguard straight away – the one with the yellow stripe is a good match for the bike.

Looking forward to maiden voyage this weekend!

They’re great but you need to make sure you get some that stay in place well. The sensation of an arm warmer gradually working it’s way down as you ride along is deeply annoying.

With that in mind, DeFeet Armskins and some Giro ones are the best I’ve tried.

Well I have ordered the Orange 129s now. £1240 from Sunset including them setting it up tubeless for me before sending it out. The extra 10% off this week was too good to miss.

Thanks for all the contributions to the thread.

I’m sure in the last athletics world championships I spotted one or more athletes wearing a single arm warmer… in sprint events! Pretty bizarre.

No via ferrata as far as I’m aware but you’ll probably find everything else.

Col de Sarenne is great but IMO it’s better done in ascent and then descend Alpe D’Huez because the road surface is pretty poor on the Sarenne and there tends to be a load of sheep wandering around on it.

Carry plenty of clothes with you. You might feel hot on the way up but once you start a 10 mile descent from over 2000m altitude you can get very cold very quickly.

Plenty to go at round Bourg D’Oisans aside from the Alpe. The local tourist board has a helpful website including a downloadable guide with loads of routes in it.

If you want somewhere a bit more attractive you could try the Beaufort area/Cormet du Roseland.

South Rake on Dow Crag is good if you enjoy a rake/gulley scramble.

Sharp Edge as already suggested, descent via Halls Fell Ridge.

    Cam Crag ridge in Langstrath.

Worth another go at Lord’s Rake/West Wall Traverse although it barely qualifies as a scramble.

TBH if it’s scrambling you’re after you may be better heading up to Glencoe and doing the Aonach Eagach and Curved Ridge. Very few places in the Lakes really offer sustained scrambling action.
