I have a SS as my commuter for which it makes perfect sense as almost zero maintenance. I would never have one as a mtb or road bike though.

I’ve installed the garage locking bolts for my garage – easy to install and add some extra security. Cheaper here:

I also invested in a ground anchor, 16mm chain and good lock.

I tried my mates Hope Tech M4s (not evo) and was very glad I bought shimano instead.

Talk to Hope directly – their customer service is excellent.

Thule Aero – worth the money. I used http://www.skidrive.co.uk when I got mine.

Mine has quite a bit missing. Got roughly 45-50 m2 so I’ll get some quotes and see how much it is

CrossTrax definitely did them last year and 18 bikes has a demo last year too.

unklehomered – Are you in Harrogate? Transition dealer in Leeds (CrossTrax) and Hope (18 Bikes) where I got mine.

Transition Covert would tick all your boxes. Always loved the look of the the Commencal MiniDH – bet it was a hoot to ride.

My home content insurance including specified bikes of £3.5k and £800 costs £19 a month. Bikes are covered for theft home and away, including abroad and are covered for breakages and crashes. I can also get my replacement/repair anywhere I want and my last (and only) claim was resolved and paid within two weeks, one week of that was me getting quotes and deciding what replacement frame I wanted :D

Wow, I was thinking closer to a few days work and sub £500.

I’ll get a few quotes and then realise I can’t afford it!

How easy is it to do a good job yourself? Tools required?

I don’t mind paying for a professional to do it if the results will be better.

How will they deal with it and will it cost me?

The new style BT box upstairs is dead – no dial tone.

Are the record ones worth the extra over something like this?

Easy alarms – the one with a pir, remote and sounder. The sounder has an on/off switch and a sound switch so I’m going to glue them in place. More of a deterrent than full on alarm but that’s all I wanted. Give them a call – very helpful.

Well its already a lot better so lets hope he keeps it up. If he does I’ll cut his side of the hedge when I do mine.

Still going to add soundproofing panels when I decorate to be on the safe side.

I went round tonight and met my neighbor and chatted about the noise. Turns out he’s a really nice guy and said he’ll try to keep the tv down and that the 5am noise was his alarm clock but will try to sort something out. Now feeling a little embarrassed but glad the situation is better and got to know that my neighbour is a good guy. Time will tell if he’s true to his word and I think sound proof panels will be part of the decorating!

The council route is a last resort in my opinion. Lets just hope he doesn’t realise the effect he is having.

I went about 4 years ago and there was only really 2 DH runs although they were great fun. Some very good riding in the resort that is more lift assisted XC.

I’d go again but it didn’t have the amount of runs that say Morzine does but its a lot quieter.

I bought one, used it once and never again. A cutting guide and hacksaw is miles better.

I didn’t like Follow Me when I watched it the first few times but then started to love it.

£10 for the HD version on iTunes.
