XT rear hub will last a long time. I only just serviced mine after two years but now I know how easy and cheap it is to do ill prob do it every year.

Don’t bother buying a new hub until the XT one is dead.

Great all round bike. Not that light but if you want a light bike you probably wouldn’t be looking at a 5.5″ travel full suss bike anyway.

I’ve got a 2007 medium (im 5.11) and love it. With the rear shock set up well you dont need pro-pedal.

KMC X9L for me, try parkers international for decent prices

As above, definately north leeds. Some of those places above are pretty pricey mind.

Chapel Allerton if you want to be closer to the centre and have local pubs.

MTB Direct is the best place for cheap grips.

Def get a full face and goggles, not too expensive and it could save your face/life.

    Full finger gloves a must.
    Trackpump for changing tyres.

Yeah its a great film, little bit different with all the nature style shots and shows just how good Travis Rice is. Love the tune in the NZ park section.

All the Absinthe films are worth a watch also as is DC Mountain Lab.

I think MTB films have learnt a lot from skiing/snowboarding vids, Seasons is a good example.

Anyone know when the next Collective film is out?

Just ordered the Tamron 70-300mm f4-5.6 Di LD Macro Lens. Think the extra zoom will come in useful.

Is that a nikon lens? Tempted by the Tamron 75-300mm now as can be had for around £120

Its the better reviews and price difference that are tempting me.

Both F4-5.6. I’m considering the Tamron 55-200 against the Tamron or Sigma (poss APO) 75-300mm lenses.

Take your rear shock out then see how the singarm moves. It should swing freely and have no lateral play.

How did you manage to get the Sigma 75-300mm APO for £35? They normally go for much more.

Used Official sintered and organic pads and so far have been really good. Tried SSC normal pads – rubbish, lasted one ride a pair. Replaced FOC with sintered so about to give them a go.

Had a 55 for 2 years, so has a mate. We ride often in peaks, dales and wales and had no problems. Been to the alps with in on DH courses, bike took a hammering and apart from a bent bolt that holds the shock in place it was absolutely fine. Great bike and with the deals currently available I’d certainly get one.

If you’ve never been before then I’d say definatley go. Better than Dalby IMO but you’ll have to do it twice to make the drive worth it (does have a good cafe though). Its also less then 2 hours from huddersfield, more like 1 hour 30 mins.

I’ve been to La Clusaz which is close to Chamonix. Lifts are open for biking and its very quite on both DH and XC trails, bit limited but if your only there for a few days or so it would be good. Nice local town/village too.

I have a year old Vaio. Its one of the cheaper ones but I’d never had a problem with mine and really like it. You pay a bit more for the name but IMO they’re good laptops and nice to use. I’d certainly buy another.

Insure and Go – Cheap and reputable (I know poeople that have claimed and had no probs). Used DogTag which is good but Insure and Go is cheaper. If you get the Card Neige (the one with the lift pass) I doubt it will cover things like money and luggage.

I have 2.35″ single ply, folding 60a Minion Front and 2.1″ single ply, folding, 60a HighRoller Rear on my Meta 55 and that does fine for yorkshire riding and welsh trail cetres. Prob going to put a lighter/faster tyre on the back this summer just don’t know what yet!

Off to the Alps again this summer and I’ll prob invest in some 2.5″ 42a tyres then but for the UK, especially on a bike you want to pedal uphill I wouldn’t dream of using 2.5″ F&R especially in a soft compound.
