My local shops days about two days max to turn a set of forks around and were a fair bit cheaper then mojo/TF.

I’m contemplating doing it myself soon as I dont get full travel from my Fox Float R’s. Will a simple service cure this?

These are the ones I was thinking of:

I have a Kaos UL and love it. Previously had a Giro Hex and the Kaos is leagues ahead.

I find mine very comfortable, light, good venting and no sweat drips down my face like it did on the Hex. They are expensive but if you shop around you can get them cheaper.

I have the older version with cloth pads instead of the new gel ones.

Might go for it then, want my bike to feel a bit longer anyway.

Now – Ti-gold, black or grey?

Why shorten the Stem? Currently got a 70mm.

Get more for your money with the commencal. I've never ridden a Five so can't comment on performance but they seem overpriced to me.

    Too many to choose from!

I'd say mid-cage will be fine.

Can't see 10spd making much difference so I'd stick to 9spd if its cheaper.

I use a normal front mech and never changed it from when I had a triple on. Just don't change up to the bash!

I have the 32T middle ring and it is only a pain on road desents. Have a look at Blackspire bashes – pretty nice.

As above – choose your bash guard for the number of teeth your covering, NOT replacing.

I'm tempted by the Troy-lee just to try something different. Hidden ruffian style grips for 2 years now.

Dont like the moto style waffle on the superstar ones.

I've been thinking about buying a new board as my 2006 Burton Uninc and 07 Rome Agent are getting tired. I'm probably going to hunt for a few on ebay to get a last season bargin – can't justify spending £350 – £400 on a new board just for holidays.

I bet the Travis Rice board is pretty special if its anything like his riding.

I've got one of those remington ones – very good.

Ospray Raptor – better than camelbak imo.

I'll try lifting the seat up. I have adjusted my cleats using the sitting on a table method with your legs dangling down. Not that confident they are correct though.

el_creedo – snowboarded into a rock when turning into the upslope of a small bowl. Both knees hit the rock pretty hard. Always been dodgy since then but only recently (8 years after) become an issue.

Interesting. My knees have always been a bit dodgy from lots of snowboarding but since I got a road bike and started commuting in 3-4 times a week my knees have become worse. Flats on a road bike would look weird though!

Thanks for the advice. Whats VMO?

I'm tempted to start riding flats some of the time – would this help?

I have the exception 2.1 as a rear tyre most of the time and when dry use it on the front. I really like it and have never had any issues with rocks etc with about 38-40psi in the rear on my full suss.

I have had an exception crossmark rip though so I'd probably avoid that casing and just get the standard one.

Get the steroid cream – it works wonders. Moisturise lots and avoid potent cleansing products.

When I lived in the alps they gave me some weaker cream for my face – can't remember what it was called but it worked well too.

Definately worth watching but not what I'd build. One of the best bike programs I've seen on TV.

The bar at the top of city is pretty cool too on a nice night – not cheap though.

One a month here too. I started avoiding the keebab option after a night out recently which helps a lot!

The last section of AE is almost worth the visit alone. The only bad part of my AE experience was the cafe.

Killoughtree is boring imo. Too much of the same and only the rocky 'Moab' bit thats interesting. I though AE was fantastic and Glentress is also worth the drive.

Sounds like a fairly common problem then so hopefully will be able to get it sorted with little side effects.

Is arthroscopies done under local or local anesthetic?

    MRanger156

Definitely without chest wax. Its the 'in look' at trail centre car parks.

I don't think its the arthroscopy that leads to arthritis, I think its caused by removing cartilage.

At the moment I can still do all sports but take ibuprofen. The pain and discomfort come after and then it hurts to walk, particularly up stairs and my knees get very hot.

When I get the results of my MRI I have another appointment with the specialist and go from there. He didn't give many details about getting arthritis due to operating. I just want to know some options so I understand things before I go in.

My main sports are snowboarding, football, cricket and obviously biking. I couldn't really handle not being able to do these things in the future.

Spin in lower gears and get your cleats setup correctly if you use them. The problem may actually be your knees and cycling aggravates this injury so if things persist I'd see the doc.

I've torn the cartilage in both my knees and get pain after several hours of riding. Ibuprofen keep me going for now until I get them fixed.

Its a pretty personal thing and weight/level/terrain are more important than height. I'm 6 foot, 80kg and ride a 156 for general riding/park and a 158 for powder (would be bigger if cash allowed).

If your going to buy one then I'd try to test a few before hand either in the UK or canada. If your at a beginner level dont be tempted by an expensive board as they are generally stiffer and harder to ride.
