On the mtb I sing/humm music from biking vids on the dh bit. On the road bike I either try to think about things around me or when it get tough I try to ‘enjoy’ the pain.

Had specialized sport BG, now have shimano M166 and fine them much comfier. Higher end shimano have a better insole which is worth it imo.

I was in the same position recently and wanted something with a bit of protection. Went for the Krylions in the end based on price and reviews.

£800 for forks! I was thinking of getting the standard 160mm float R model.

Also hoping for some sort of deal when spending £2k but I fear the 24 month finance will spoil that. Need to have a go on one first but I fear once I’ve done that I’ll be reaching for my wallet (happened last time)!

    I’ve got one of these:

Excellent condition, couple of years old. Its just a shell – no lining, size large.

    Otherwise TK Maxx or ebay.

Don’t want it for cycling, more for putting on after a ride, general wear, walking the dog etc.

Bikes – Nothing stands out for me. Trek and specialised seem to back there products with a great warranty and no doubt are amount the top spenders in development. My next bike probably wont be either though.

Components – SRAM have never let me down. Magura and shimano brakes seem simple and robust. Not convinced by Avid or Formula, maybe I just prefer mineral oil.

Clothing – Gore – Expensive but some of the best bike clothing I have and very durable.

So roughly how much would a long weekend with switchbacks cost? Looking to ride 4 days of uplifting riding (don’t mind a bit of climbing) on fast, flowy, jumpy, techy singletrack.

Craft 3D leg warmers here. Don’t slip about at all and very comfy if not a tiny bit too big. Not sure if they do knee warmers though.

Its pretty wet up here although some routes in the dales are pretty rocky and drain well.

Dual ply, super tacky minion or highroller, wider the better. I used a minoin 2.5 ST in morzine and it didn’t miss a beat.

Do you have friends? Make sure he knows your friends are bigger and stronger than him. Also found out if he has any older harder brothers/cousins, if not destroy him and do everyone a favour. Might not help your navy application though.

Different lines and accidents happen. Attitudes are down to the individual, not the chosen sport. Skiers also have two edges as oppose to one for great stopping ability.

Personally I generally slow down near kids.

I just bought the 23mm krylions for my road bike and like them. Seem pretty puncture resistant when cycling by just cut hedges and fairly cheap off CRC. For commuting I’d be tempted to go with something tougher though.

So do we have a definitive answer or at least a decent estimate? I worked out several methods I found on the internet and got answers from 30kg to 300kg!
