    spaztard

    n. An individual who possesses the qualities of both a spaz and a tard; one who overreacts in a moronic manner. Credit belongs to Canadian K. Fellows for coining the term in 2000.

    Calm down, you f*cking spaztard!

Could you realistically ride along the Crib Goch ridge? I don't think so.

(Now someone is going to come along and say that's their regular XC loop they do on their rigid SS).

That's my regular XC loop I do on my rigid SS.

No Pro Pedal should be OFF when you make the adjustment! Lever goes clockwise to turn on.

    They're not.

Yep looked on Merlin at both Floats and Revs. Prices seem to rocket if you want a tapered steerer though (e.g. £100 extra on Revs at Merlin) hence me asking the question on here.

A proper response! Thanks LoCo I'll be in touch.

Kaesae – thanks for the bump. Maybe you're not such a waste of space after all.

Nothing to see here – I'm not replying to him any more. I've got a proper job too, and he will no doubt be using his stellar realignment theory to straighten some bent* frames.

    * = and I don't just mean bent as in "we still don't know where he gets them from"

The magnetic poles are fluctuating, which is of course why birds are unable to fly south.

Definitely grease the axle every so often. If you don't you will notice it get harder to take out each time as water and crap etc gets in.

    Steeling is spelt 'stealing'

That reminds me – where DO you get all those frames from??

    That's not me!!

That's a pic of a frame thief

I'm thinking about a Giant VT or Specialized Enduro but I might simply build an epic or other XC orientated bike.

    Don't forget these…

What do you weigh (if it's not a personal question)?

Since you've now had it two weeks, I assume you've put some good miles under its wheels?

Yep, it's had a couple of rides in the Peaks, one at Llandegla, one at Coed y Brenin, been up and down Snowdon and I've just returned from a weekend at Afan.

    Love it!

Did Keith from Banshee ever sort out that guide to sag settings that was mentioned on MTBR forum? I've set my shock up using guess work so far…

Hmmm! I sold a bike while still making payments on it, only I sold various bits of it to various people. What would the finance company have done if I hadn't made the rest of the payments??

Ah yes – I knew exactly where that right turn was as I had asked on here beforehand. My mate had the route on his Garmin and we headed back as he thought we had gone wrong. You can turn where the little marker is or turn off a bit earlier and go diagonally and it brings you to the same place (it's not quite as steep if you go that way). So we went back a bit, turned near the gate and went that way back over to Llanberis.

Were you on the scandal or kona?

Neither! Me on Mythic and my mate on his Scott. We got to the top as you started to come back down. We didn't see anyone else on bikes except you. We caught you up and went past at the bottom while you were stopped talking to someone. That was my first go at Snowdon and I loved it (due to the fact that I didn't die on the way down).

Re Vanillas – ignore Fox's recommendations about rider weight / springs. I'm over lbs kitted up but use the purple spring whereas Fox say I'm borderline blue/green (both much too firm).

Er, is it just me, but is that his left hand and a right-hand lever?

Yep, it's just you. They go either way up (reservoir cap on each side).

I used to put my Hope one so tight that I had to hammer it open and closed. Still didn't hold the post in place.

There's your problem! Mine slipped like mad too so I got a Salsa which does what it's supposed to.

I've got a Joplin 3 and a Joplin 4. There is still side to side play (from new) with the Joplin 4, just not as much as with the 3. You can't feel it when riding.

Change to a cable remote instead of the lever then. Much better anyway! That's what I've just done.

    mr_mills

Joplin has that too. You've probably just got the lever too close to the saddle.

All sorted. No broken springs just lots of muck in there. Cleaned and rebuilt with a new set of springs anyway :-)

I mean is it going to die on me at the top of Snowdon on Friday if I haven't sorted it by then??!!

Is there a vid on the Hope site which covers this job?

Well I think I can manage £3 so I'll get some new ones. As it's only recently gone quiet can I assume I'm ok to ride for a while without it dying on me?
