Some TVs and set top boxes give you a signal strength meter. Obviously you need someone at the other end looking at it as carrying a 46″ tv up a ladder could end badly.

Saw this in an inflight magazine, alongside these:

It might have been slightly out of tiredness and boredom, but my daughter and I were creased up with laughng for about 15 minutes. If I had a dog these are the toys it would have.

    The best ones are bendy.

No, the best ones have a large top deck and you can enter at the rear.

I take a photo of the odometer with my Iphone as this has time and location data tagged to it.

OK. Time to own up. I just googled the motto from the badge and it turned out someone on Pistonheads had asked the same question.

Geoff, did you spot the car in Puerto Pollensa by any chance?

I actually know nothing about anything – if that was a valuable commodity this place would be worth billions. :-)

Not sure where the badge is from though.

For audio station I’ve only used 5000 so without knowing which router you are using I’m guessing it’s expecting you to open a range of ports – not a good thing. I would set the range as 5000-5000 (or 5001 if you want to use HTTPS) so you’ve effectively only opened the one port. I only use audio station but it looks like video station and file station use the same port so you should be good to go with just the one port set up.

Edit: I’ve just looked at my router settings (linksys) and there are separate pages for port range forwarding and single port forwarding – might be worth checking you don’t have the same so you can open a single port.

OK so what’s the difference between a tactician and a strategist?

A strategist develops strategies with the objective of outmaneuvering their opponent whereas a tactician provides the team with little mints.

Have you set up port-forwarding on your router?

    It’s a blessing, get a £10 phone and a life.

Shouldn’t you be out smashing looms or something.

Have you tried a hard reset.

Press and hold the home button the simultaneously press and hold the sleep button. Continue holding both buttons until the apple logo appears on screen. Shouldn’t take more than 15 seconds.

That’s really rather pathetic of you.

There was no intention to do any damage, I just hit it out of frustration with the side of my fist as I walked past. I was as shocked as anyone when this dent appeared, it was like the thing was made of tinfoil.

Funny Audi TTs should get mentioned in a thread about parking.

A couple of years ago I was the only car waiting in a small car park for a space to come free. Whilst waiting another car came in and waited alongside. Eventually someone came back and went to a car near the exit, I looked across at the other driver and he indicated for me to take the space. I had to wait for the other car to leave the car park before I could get in the space, as the car went towards the exit another came into the car park causing the other to have to move over and wait giving the new arrival a free run at the empty space which they drove into. There was no way the driver hadn’t seen the two of us waiting so I went to have a word. The woman in the car gave me the biggest shit-eating grin as she claimed not to have seen anyone waiting and refused to move.

That was they day I found out how easily the rear wing of an Audi TT caves in when you give it a relatively light punch

I put beta 3 on my Iphone 4 from a non-official source and when Beta 4 was released I just went into the settings on my Iphone where it told me an update was available. I pressed the update button and it did the rest on it’s own with no problems, so I would think that when the official release happens it will be just the same.

who thought Malcolm’s dad would be just that brilliant?!

As someone said somewhere else – what if we get to the end of series five and Walt goes into witness protection, and that is the start of Malcolm in the Middle?

Beta 4 now released – supposedly close to a release version.

I’ve had beta 3 on my Iphone 4 since it was released and apart from an occasional lockup which needs a hard reset to recover from, it runs very well. Hopefully the lockups will be fixed with this release.

Moth Eaton the nicest town in Notinghamshire(/Derbyshire) – that’s got to be some sort of internet vote rigging.

It’s a different situation to last year though. Porte is well down the GC and has no chance of winning the Tour, whereas last year Froome was running second in GC and could conceivably have beaten Wiggins by enough on the mountains to take the lead, so his impatience with having to play domestique was understandable. Porte going off the front and leaving his team leader on his own would be unforgivable in terms of the team’s tour goals.

They did it 30-odd years ago. Twice in one day but like portly said, not up, loop back then up the same road again.

1979 tour went up twice, but on consecutive days. It’s never been done twice in one day before.

You mean apart from last time they went twice up Alpe d’Huez?

    When was that then?

Neither of those look as painful as the Dambusters’ flip where one of the ‘pilots’ had a monumental faceplant – I can’t find a video of it anywhere unfortunately.

There’s a reason you see sportspeople spraying champagne around at the end of Grand Prix and the like. It’s because that’s all it’s good for.

    Amusing blog nevertheless.

One annoying bug though, is that when the unit is on DAB, it is more often than not totally silent when turning on the ignition – I have to power off/on or select Media and then back to radio. 2 years on and as yet no fix.

Mine does this as well, but I just change the channel up or down to a different station and this kicks it back to life.

I spend a fair bit of time working away so for security I’ve installed one of these in my hallway which monitors the area any burglar would have to come through. It records still images to my NAS and sends me an email with images when it detects movement. You can also access it via the web and pan around if you want.

A bit fiddly to set up but once that was done it hasn’t needed touching in over a year. Far cheaper and more useful then an alarm system.

I stayed at a little motel type place in the village of Berry-au-bac just north of Reims a couple of years ago. This place.

It was clean and functional and just off the motorway, It has parking directly outside the rooms with a gate which is locked at night, but you could actually put the bikes in your room if you wanted to.
