They featured the MTL on countryfile on sunday -talking about the packhorse trails and the plans for the penine bridleway .good article if you were a horse rider.there was a thirty second mention of mountain biking , they showed a rider come to the gate and chat to the horse rider .told him abount bikers using the trails ” how far have you come today ” , “oh 12 miles ” , ” ooh you’ve had a good ride then “, made me chuckle any way

it was called the old grey whistle test because if the old lad cleaner came in whistling a tune from the night before it wascatchy and therefore a winner

you could do the marin trail , but when you cross the road near to the final section head left, takes you up tp lyn crafnant ,follow the road up to blan y nant and take the bridleway over the hill – takes you back into betswy

I only have one mountain bike [ orange 5 ] and I couldn’t be doing with the extra maintainance and fettling required if I had more .I do have a road bike I got when I was doing a coast to coast ride for charity but to be honest I rarely use it, even commuting to work looks a better option on a mountain bike given the state of the roads.

one time me and my mate were out on local trails when a couple stopped us and were asking for directions.I was giving advice and began to think that the woman in particular was making fixed eye contact with me. I didn’t quite get why until i realised my mate had turned around and was happily pissing away whilst giving directions , some verbal some more of a gesture.when i asked him afterwards he looked non-plussed and he hadn’t even registered that he was pissing in front of her .

The combination of energy drink consumption and an aging bladder mean that if lost I could problably find my way own by sniffing my own wee-wee trail .And I have successfully tagged vast tracks of land as mine by strategic pissing

    THIN END OF THE WEDGE

I agree with Ton ,the miserable tory bastards would sell the steam off your piss if they could, and what starts with a low impact now will only increase and people who just let it pass will realise the bigger trend when it is too late , Mart

does that mean we’d have to lock up alanis morrisette [ the only ironic thing about her song ” ironic ” being that it was written by a woman with no sense of irony ,] .if thats the case i’d vote for it .

i’ve never done much with my legs as i thought that biking was the best exercise for them and i wonder if bulking up with weights is helpful or could cause problems or at least unnecesary weight /bulk

Dumphries and galloway is good, there are cottages around beeswing and similar small villages. you have access to beaches and hills to walk, nice pubs, friendly persons and a warmer climate that most of scotland as well as access to lots of biking trails including the seven stanes , what more could you want [ and its a relatively short journey up ]

liesure lakes have got some good deals – the blowfish is around £40 or the capo for £45 .both good bags depending on your needs .the blowfish is 3 litres and a good compact bag for general use. the capo would be better for lakeland type rides as you can carry kneepads etc but its a bit bulky for shorter rides.

I think that most of these comments apply to hollywood style films but lets not forget some good smaller budget efforts like jim jarmusch films or terry gillan films which can be good .its only a couple of weeks ago that we were raving about ” into the wild ” which was a good , character based film

pointless remakes are the things that annoy me, when they take a prefectly good film, sentimalise it and make any twists so obvious and then add on a sugary sweet happy ending
