The thing about Gisburn is that most of it has been around for yonks , but it was mainly the woody trails at the bottom and the family stuff , + the odd bit of cheekiness, all the good stuff at the top section is what people have built up since as well as improving the forest trails .Its not the most exciting but there are good bits and as people have said it’s free .I like the wooded sections which they have got just right , good grip etc.

We have a ditzzy receptionist at work and after discussion about luminous condoms [ and their suitability for star wars fun in a darkened room ] .she pondered for several hours and aprpos of nothing sadi…………” I wonder if its so you can find your way back to your tent ” ??????????

But just to show that Im not immune to the odd gaff myself I sawe the boss this morning after two weeks leave .I was aware that he had been in the south of france for the first week and asked if he’d had a good time down there. After a lenghty silence he informed me that the 2nd week was spent in hospital having a cyst removed from his left testicle.

” Oh that explains why you didn’t send a card ” chirps I

I seem to remember old school XC involvong lots of non technical slog around muddy fields , from what I’ve seen of the Hadliegh couse its considerable more tecnical with gap-jumps and rock gardens so its got to be much harder on the riders hence our boy with a broken ankle

The tories appear to have a twofold agenda, on the one hand to lay blame for any fault they can find [ despite the fact that most sports funding has tended to come from lottery money , and secondly to capitalize on the reflective glory of sports people doing well and the nation getting behind them

not to mention the pressure on teachers to get kids to meet targets set by the government and the rigidity of the curriculums required to do this , meaning that most schools necesarily focus on getting kids through SATS and examines rather than looking at education in the broader sense

For me the worst films are the pointless remakes that miss the point of the origonal, the origonal ” producers ” for example owed a lot to the chemistry between a genuinely petrified gene wilder and a mischevious zero mostell .the remake was like acting by numbers

Northwind I agree about the soundtrack ,in fact I bought the CD, how can you not love Bowie songs in portugese but that as I recall was the only memorable or redeeming feature

The thing with ” lost in translation “, like broken flowers and other bill murray films is that its just him walking around with his ” ironic face ” – the absolutly shitist has to be ” the life aquatic ” like watching paint refuse to dry .

Thats my point atlaz they moved the action from a scottish isle to america for no geed reason , took away the plot device of the missing girl and had nicolas cage walking around like a baffled horse for two hours – pointless .

as for bladerunner I loved the origonal but how many director’s cuts and remakes do we need

    mr-potatohead

Is it only me that thinks that there are too many remakes, sequels, preqels and genearal farting about with old ideas and a shortage of origonal thinking. all my favourite films were considered off the wall at the time, from the origonal bladerunner to the wicker man. both they and lots of other quirky origonals have been **** with to the point of devalueing the origonal .anybody enjoy the gus van sant remake of psycho, like psycho but without any threat or menace but with a muscle bound norman [ master] bates.

I had a day at Lee Quarry with Ed Oxley , found it both useful , good fun and confidence improving . What other activity would you expect to develop skills in without some form of tutoring .Apart from anything else we all develope bad habits .Anyone can benefit from advice.

Cougar I’d echo the comments re quinoa , but if you look at veggie foods there are more proteins than you may first think – mushrooms , peas and beans /lentils as well as tofu and quorny stuff if you like .

If you think about the comparision that was made in the article between the food industry now and the cigarette industry earlier the advertisement associated with sports sponsorship and product placement starts to look a bit more dodgy
