I think its great news .I’m local and arguably don’t need the facilities but it can only help by making it more user friendly for folk from further away .We’re so spolit for trails and the two quarries so I just don’t get the negativity .I’ve ridden the quarry when there have been loads of people there and due to the layout I’ve never felt that we were in each others way, which I have felt at places like Llandegla where there is often someone in front slowly you down or behind breathing down your neck .

I heard the interview on the radio , he started off saying he wasn’t out to blkame the victims and then went on to do exactly that, talking about cyclists jumping red lights and cutting accross lanes with no regard for their own or other’s safety .The guy for the cyclist’s side of the argument was a wet lettuce .

if you see all those new [ ? ] riders within the context of all the accidents where cyclists are hurt or killed and I think we might have a bit of an issue

rivi riders are a group on facebook who ride near you and have female members as do bogtrotters, not sure where they,re based but they frequently host rides in the area.

Whether or not the cyclist was in the wrong a good motorist should be checking both directions, for the unexpected not the expected .

The next stage is when they both expect you to take their side ,best get an outside hobby or wear a tin hat.

fascinating place but you will some serious cold weather gear, oh and everything stinks of eggy farts due to the geo-thermal heating .If you go to the northern lights check with hotel staff which companys are good, some will wait with you for as long as it takes, other whisk you back regardless.

I had a similar experience, knocked off in broad daylight by an old lady who was very upset and I almost ended up trying to comfort her by saying I was ok .Wanted to get moving before I seized up ,it was only when I got home that I thought about the potential consequences [ she could have pushed accross the road into oncoming traffic ] and reflected that I’d dealt with it completeley differently that if it had been someone younger .

didsbury is nice ,chorlton very bohemian + lots going on. ashton under lyne is basically a ghost town that can’t afford a ghost.places like rammy are ok but far out , though excellent for mountainbiking , dogging and other country pursuits

You can do a nice little circuit starting either at the marble arch or the castle on oldham street, taking in bar fringe and the highfield hotel on swann street , all real ale pubs, all good, try the ginger ale in the marble, and their food is good

I think I will ride until I can’t ride .why would you ever not, and you’re a good example of overcoming whatever obstacles life throws at you , adapt and survive. If I’m doddering along a tow-patch in my dotage I don’t care , its all good

When I first joined the forum it was simply a matter of being in touch with people to know when the Northern Chapter rides were being organised from .I’ve met some good folk and riding buddies on here but there are loads I’ll never meet .Syspect there are a few desk-jockeys passing boring days at work by engaging in mass-debate

Brown and agile child, the sun which forms the fruit
And ripens the grain and twists the seaweed
Has made your happy body and your luminous eyes
And given your mouth the smile of water.

A black and anguished sun is entangled in the twigs
Of your black mane when you hold out your arms.
You play in the sun as in a tidal river
And it leaves two dark pools in your eyes.

Brown and agile child, nothing draws me to you,
Everything pulls away from me here in the noon.
You are the delirious youth of bee,
The drunkedness of the wave, the power of the wheat.

My somber heart seeks you always
I love your happy body, your rich, soft voice.
    Dusky butterfly, sweet and sure
Like the wheatfiled, the sun, the poppy, and the water.

Report Poem Landscape With The Fall Of Icarus
    According to Brueghel
    when Icarus fell
    it was spring

    a farmer was ploughing
    his field
    the whole pageantry

    of the year was
    awake tingling
    near

    the edge of the sea
    concerned
    with itself

    sweating in the sun
    that melted
    the wings’ wax

    unsignificantly
    off the coast
    there was

    a splash quite unnoticed
    this was
    Icarus drowning

joking aside Jools has tended to provide one of the few slots for new bands amongst the more established acts, this series has been all fairly bland with the odd dolop of shite thrown in … where’s the emerging talent ?
