A top local to us Slievenamon in Tipperary , i cycled up it late last year , then took the wife for a walk up it late march when we had the last few flakes of snow .A fine ride but a long walk down that was slow in comparison to my bike descent.

They used to show Yellow Submarine every Christmas on TV when i was a kid.

    [quote

The Blue Meanies are a fictional army of fierce, if buffoonish, music-hating creatures in the surreal 1968 Beatles film Yellow Submarine. They allegorically represent all the bad people in the world.

Snapped a chain here on my Canondale 29er. New chain was skipping beyond rideable, so new cassette was next .
Still not riding right ,closer inspection revealed rear mech cage was also bent and as slack as h–s draws.
So new mech and all is good .
    Except the wallet !

Mountain warehouse branded stuff is good value i find.I also use it as work wear ,working in social care can at times be quite demanding on clothing and it holds up well.

I built one up from spares ,tatty old ali frame n forks from the ark and made of pig iron.Old chain set.
Trouble is i’ve not seen it as my 17 year old son has claimed it despite having his own rockhopper down the shed .

Contemplating turning my Cannondale 29er into SS for next winter, then i’ll lock it away from others when not in use.

Got myself a complete set of shimano’s from bike discount ,when i unpacked the levers were wrong sided for my liking so changed over calipers without the need to bleed .
After a week needed bleeding so got myself an irrigation syringe from work used that to do pressure bleed ,by putting syringe in top ,open bleed nipple, tube to jar to catch fluid ,plunge syringe then lock off nipple and PRESTO no air left in system.
Basically same as pressure bleeding car brakes with a compressor full of fluid .

Had a Claud Butler majestic back in early 80s as my 1 bike used for general duties, touring and rough stuff as it was then .
Used to go away weekends with RSF group of local ctc Bristol branch with a chap I think his name was Rob Porter remember doing the “Wayfarers path” up in snowdonia .
I couldn’t make start of day so joined them late sat night after i’d driven up after work ,parked the car then rode up in darkness to try and find them , gave up around midnight and pitched my tent then in morning realized i was a stones throw from them over the brow . ( no mobiles then and pretty dim torches too)

531 tubing was where it was at . The bike cost me best part of £400.00 which was over 10 wks wages as an apprentice butcher ,my pride n joy.
Not for getting my old Brookes B17 saddle which dad had from a friend at work at the time .

Diazepan was prescibed by my doctor, could barely crawl up the stairs at one stage, That floaty feeling is not nice thou.
I now use an osteopath about once a year , as mine stems from previous injury of neck after doing an over the bars badly .He puts movement back into the seized joints ,then rotations of the hips and upper body and arms keep me mobile when i feel things starting to tighten up.

In the mean time people have to be “Buyer Beware “.

LandRovers are so easy to cover up all manner of sins as basically a giant Mechano kit as those that have owned them know.

Many years ago i hired a car in York from a national firm then drove home to Bath dropped car at depot out of hours so posted keys through letter box as agreed.
I called them following morning to check they had keys and request my deposit back which i had paid in cash at the time in York.
3 days later cheque arrived in post for deposit, cashed it. End of business.
A month later another cheque arrived in the post for my deposit again , i held it for a month then paid it into my bank but kept the money aside for 3 months ,no requests were ever recieved for the double refund.

So my trip from York to Bath cost me next to nothing .
Their mistake not mine. over 30 years ago now.

Valentines day has become a capitalist commercial venture op, do somethimg nice at any other tome of the year not when the telly box tells you.

Totally agree, over commercialized. We just had steak for tea which i cooked as usual as she says i cook it better then she went to work at 18.30 for the night,so a night ride round the lanes for me,then watched n recorded Endeavor. then bed.
