@sumsar81 Hi you asked me to post tyre clearance pics a while ago and I completely forgot – apologies. The above post reminded me.
Pinnacle Arkose 2017, tyres are Maxxis Race TT 2.0″ (51mm).
Front fork has about 13mm clearance.
    Rear stays have about 6/7mm.

@witterings I’m 5’9 with 30″ inseam and I went with a small but with a 90mm stem. I find it very comfortable but I don’t like being too stretched out as I’m not the world’s most supple person.

I’m running 650b with Re-Fuse 2.0″ on a 2017 Arkose. Loads of room front and back.

    @sumsar81

Max size is 700x45mm which would be roughly 29×1.75.

If you want wider go 650b.

@sumsar81 Pretty sure the specs for clearance are 650b x 50mm and 700c x 45mm. I’ll get a pic when I can but I’m away from the bike for a few days at the mo.

I had a road bike and MTB before but just have the Arkose now. It does road and off-road pretty well but neither as good as separate bikes. As long as you don’t expect it to perform like a specialist bike you’re sorted I reckon. I just enjoy riding more now, more relaxed, comfortable and can do a bit of bikepacking as well.

For much better detailed info the Arkose designer @jameso is on this forum, he’s the font of all known Arkose knowlege!

I haven’t measured the gap but they’re designed to take 700x45c, I’m guessing with 5/6mm space either side.

Thanks @sumsar81 – yeah the blue Arkose with Fulcrums is mine, loving it!

I have a set of 700c for mainly road rides with 37mm Voyager Hypers but I much prefer to head off road as much as I can. With 650b fitted it feels more nimble and no hitting the front wheel with my feet on sharp turns.

Don’t think you can really go wrong with an Arkose.

    Yep, 50mm/2 inch Maxxis Re-fuse 650b on a Pinnacle Arkose 2017.

Fits no problem at all. Also have 2.0 inch Specialized Fast Trak 650b which fits easily as well. These measure to about 52mm on the outermost tread but I wouldn’t go any larger than that.

    Cheers

@genubah Thanks. I prefer silver seatposts as black posts I’ve had look tatty quickly due to bags and removing and refitting the seatpost, plus I can’t actually see it when I’m riding!

Back from first ride on my new Arkose build.
    Arkose 1 frameset, Shimano 105, Fulcrum 650b.
    Love it.

A few bits of Arkose info if anyone is after a bit of geek details.
Building up a small Arkose 1 2017 frameset, so same frame as higher up Arkoses but carbon/alloy steerer forks.
Frame weighs 1460g, forks uncut weigh 800g.
Beautiful matt blue colour, well pleased.
Converted a Fulcrum Red Power HP 27.5 front wheel from 15mm to 12mm with a Halo reducing sleeve and it fits perfectly.
Specialized Fast Track Control 2″ tyres fit with no problem but may be a bit tight with loads of mud.
Thanks to @Jameso for the info and advice.

Is it not possible to replace the hub end cap instead? One reason that going with 12mm for a bike like this was OK was that you can go down a size for 15mm hubs, but not all 12mms can go up a size.

    Thanks Jameso for the reply.
The Fulcrum hubs I have seem to be built around a 20mm axle which have a 15mm thru-axle spacing. I don’t think I can change the end caps but I may be wrong. I had a look at some Arkose forks yesterday and there is quite a definite shoulder around the 12mm opening which may obstruct my Fulcrum hub.
My problem now is I’ve faffed around so much that all the medium 2017 Arkose 4 framesets have sold out!
    Thanks again for the reply.

Hi, I’m after some very specific Arkose knowledge please!

I’m currently building up a new bike but have yet to buy the frameset which will more than likely be an 2017 Arkose 4.
I’m hoping to use a set of 650b Fulcrum Red Power wheels that has a 15mm thru axle on the front. I’ve bought a 12mm sleeve that will shim the hub down to 12mm so it can be used with the Arkose. My worry is that the 15mm part has an outer diameter of 20mm which may catch on the inside of the fork dropouts. Are the Arkose forks flush on the inside of the forks or are they shaped in a way that will prevent me from using these wheels?

    Hope that makes sense?

    Thanks
