About 4:15 here, 6:30 start. Was originally gutted re shortened route, however after experiencing conditions at Newlands and the bb deep floods then the shortened route was correct call by organisers.

Feel a bit sorry for those travelling a long way for a cut down event and also the villages that had put on events.

Mostly clear roads, glad I had early start though as coming back through Kingston it looked like gridlock for those on the way out. Unsurprisingly crowds out on course and Mall in particular way down on last year.

Didn’t notice Vos but did see Laura Trott cracking on at a fair pace.

Despite weather still thoroughly enjoyed it, hopefully the sun will be back again for next year.

Unless I am missing something the data does not show the number of employees so impossible to calculate the impact of removing Scotland.

Data only includes those in full time employment.

That’s just mental, why not go to a more local bike shop?

    Or walk!

Or take your back wheel off and take it in on the DLR/Central line.

Nah, bike in for a service too and pulling the bike along with the dished wheel for 4 miles would have meant a skid every meter or so and progress would have been slower than the van.

Or bus direct from CW then a quick stroll up the end of Old Street. No way would I willingly choose to drive from CW at 17:30

You can do the opposite, Fixed Dialling where you specify numbers you can call.

As far as quicker commute does Bromley not have a fast train? Would have thought commute was quicker form Bromley than CP/Dulwich. I lived in Gypsy hill for a while and commuting by public transport was long winded with lots of changes. Guess it depends where you are commuting to?

Also I would have though Dulwich and CP to have a bit of a price divide?

SO you also have to register in pereson at the Excel centre, in London, on one of the three preceding days.

How on earth are people living outside the home counties going to make that work? Come to think of it, even living in the home counties doens’t mean that isn’t going to be a major faff.

Is this not the same arrangement as per London marathon? Doesn’t seem to put people off doing that.

Pretty sure it would be impossible for the organisers getting everyone registered on the day.

Watching from Horse and Well in Woodford, the pub opens at 9 so it could get a bit messy.

I’d happily argue modern, traffic-aware satnav is better. I use it a lot for driving around London and when I do take a black cab home I tend to disagree on routes –

This is the classic argument that is rolled out all the time. If you drive round London a lot then yes you really should be able to find your way home as well as a cabbie can. Routes for complex journeys across London are always going to be subjective.

Satnav is not even remotely comparable to the Knowledge.

The Black Taxis are not protesting about a rival app as such, Licenced Mini cabs have been in London for years. Their particular beef is that currently all non-black taxis can only charge a point to point price and are not allowed to offer metered fares, Uber allows its drivers to charge a metered fare.

Segments are fairly new on Garmin Connect, I think you need to be using the new version to see them.

To change settings I pointed the light at a turned off monitor. Still bright enough that you can see the flashing led in the reflection but not bright enough to blind.

I can get photos on a Chromebook and into Flickr no probs, but Flickr only allows me to download images one at a time, so that’s not really a sensible solution.

    Ideas?

Bulkr allows batch downloading from flickr

Should you find yourself in London in the vincinity of Canary Wharf, rather than the aforementioned Boisdale, Gaucho or Goodman, pop into Waitrose as they serve up a superb steak. Guess other branches do same?

Cask, Pimlico (Crawling distance to the Victoria Line back up to Euston!) sister pubs in Clerkenwell and Islington under the Craft name are also very much worth a visit.

They are just about to open another in Covent Garden; it will be all downhill from there.

Not 100% sure what you are trying to achieve but in the Hyper-V manager you can define different networks/subnets whatever. When you create a VM you get to choose which of the networks to assign to each virtual NIC.

Then it is just same as any other networking.

    If the ‘rumour’ is true]

Bicycle courier? Changes things a bit.

So…. perhaps in a rush to get from A to B?

Consider themselves “experienced” urban cyclists, so more willing to take higher risks?

Maybe “ignorance” of the dangers of urban cycling gets thrown out the window, and replaced with “intentional” placement in dangerous situations (after they do a quick risk assessment of the options presented to them)

(From my experience of daily commuting by bike through London for 4 years, couriers are the worst offenders by a looooong shot. Squeezing in between traffic, jumping red lights, wrong was up ‘one-way’ streets, the list is endless – all to get from A-B quicker.)

    =====

Terrible news but sadly, not surprising.

(I’m surprised there aren’t more cycle deaths to be honest)

    Flame suit engaged..

Rumour has it the unfortunate courier was called Andy, we have had calls from a couple of courier companies asking if Andy is ok. Both of our pushbikers called Andy are accounted for.

    Condolences to friends and family.

Now if you could control the light from outside of the local network, add timings, randomise etc, it would be interesting as a security idea.

A Wemo switch and a few IFTTT recipes allows this (minus the colour changes)

    Newquay with more sun!

It ticks all the OP’s requirements. Besides there is more to Majorca than Magaluf.

A quick search on Thomas Cook website: 10 days all inclusive, Majorca in August for £2200. 2 adults, 2 kids.

Did you actually search for a better deal?

Leave a complete set of cycling gear (including shoes) at work for the rare occasion where you don’t get kit dry before end of day.

Leisure centre tip above is good if you have one local, I normally manage a swim before work.

Don’t think I could log into her account as I have no way of guessing the password, especically as she is Spanish. Looking at her page, seems she works in Burger King

Surely if you go to the forgotten password page the new details will be sent to your email?

Personally if I was not regularly running 3 times a week for the last couple of months I would not even consider doing intervals as said above you will almost certainly injure yourself, this is especially true of a cyclist as you will have the lungs to push harder than your legs are used to.

If you are just starting out then just running regularly at a comfortable pace will do you wonders, once you have this base then add 1 speed based session per week, either intervals or a tempo run.

    =SUM(LARGE(A1:Z1,ROW(INDIRECT((“1:20”)))))

Replace A1:Z1 with the range containing the 30 races.

Note this is an array formula so once entered you will need to save it by using Ctrl-Shift and Enter

If you are after cheese then go to La Fromagerie on Moxon St Marylebone, you can then pop next door to the Ginger Pig, even if you do not want to buy any meat it’s worth a visit for their ‘Roast of the Day’ sandwich.

Not bag related but when you get there see if you are entitled to a parking discount. I spent about £60 on car parks before I found out I could get reduced rate of £2.50 per day.

Currently ride in from Chigwell to Canary Wharf, about 11 miles e/w. If leaving after 7:30Am or coming home after 5pm pretty much continous traffic but you get used to it. Takess about 20 minutes longer to do the same journey by car during rush hour.

Have commuted from Crystal Palace and Bromnley in the past. Crystal Palace about 6 miles, bugger of a hill to finish the ride home though. Bromley about 12 miles.
