    How old is TheLittleRed

Just been to Disney LA with a 7 and a 3 year old, despite the crowds didn’t think we would lose either one.

Cannot comment on Paris specifically but Disneyland was very well presented, far more so than any other theme park I have been to, most of the rides are indoors so all you see from the outside is the facades and none of the mechanics, makes it all look very nice. The rollercoasters were predictably good more of a suprise was how entertaining for all ages some of the slower rides are, lost of lovely visuals and music.

If you want to save money take your own food in. If you don’t pre-book your meals. We did the Disney character breakfast, not cheap but my 3 year old absolutely loved it and has not stopped telling everyone about meeting all the characters.

Plan for long days, get there early and stay to watch the fireworks/lasers at the end of the day also try and watch as many of the parades as you can.

Investigate the fast pass options, again not sure on Paris but in LA you could get free fast passes if you obtained the fastpass tickets manually from the machines, it is only when using the app you got charged for the fast pass.

Create a Disney account as you will then be able to view all the pictures taken by the official photographers and rides.

For comfort an Electra-Glide (or its current equivalent). They have excellent low speed handling,

Really, I had a few rides on one in the late 90s – IMO it handled like a kingsize bed.

Picking kids up from school shortly then heading to see friends in south oxfordshire, hopefully be in the village pub by 5, hopefully not be leaving until gone 2.

Also did 2 lap ToL at a very gentle pace as warm up to WBR 1 lap classique. Not sure I will complete the tour as I can see some pub visits getting in the way.

Has anyone experienced any power dropouts since the last update? I am on a gen 2 KIckr and have experienced dropouts in last 5 Zwift sessions. Prior to update not had a dropout since I bought usb extension lead over 2 years ago. Drop out seems to occur about 10 minutes into the session. Have a dedicated laptop for Zwift so nothing has changed on the HW front.

Also did earlier 1 lapper that Weeksy did, managed to stay with lead group until the incline at end of lead in, as per normal got dropped on incline.  Eased off a bit after that to ensure no DQ and subsequently got pipped on the line although winner of C not showing on ZP.

Going to give GCN Alpe race a go shortly, only done fire and ice once before and it took 1:55 so hoping for a bit quicker this time.

Violent Femmes, Add It Up (for Blister in the Sun)

Add it up was a compilation album,  Both blister in the sun snd add it up are on their eponymously titled album which is brilliant.

Plus 2 for Doolitle, cracking album that still gets played today.

Well done sockpuppet sub 3:30 was my aim too, kept roughly on pace until mile 15 then started to die, came home in 3:38 with an 8 minute positive split.

seems I need to work on my endurance.

Checkpoint Charlie might be a tourist trap but worth a visit to the area as there is a great little museum next to it showing the various ways people attempted to cross the wall.  Topography of terror is also in the vicinity.

Kollnischer park is a tiny urban space that houses two bears, worth a visit at feeding time for the novelty value.

The jewish memorial is a must see and if a nice day you can do worse than wander through the Tiergarten from Brandenburgh gate to the zoo.

Another rejection for me, think that is 10!

They scrapped the 5 year thing ages ago, too many people applying, not enough places.

Did the 1 lap road to ruins hilly race last night, legs were not feeling it and ended up in the rear group with 5/6 C/Ds and a similarly lowly finish.

3rd time lucky for the Wahooligan race tonight as the last two weeks they have messed up and set the races up as TTs, will bail if that happens again.

Been using zwift without a fan and have got fed up with the constant puddle under the bike so have bitten the bullet and bought a Wahoo fan, waiting on its arrival from Wiggle, it’ll make me faster right?

Not sure about the 50% cap mentioned above.  My daughter goes to a Catholic school, in order to apply for admission you need a form signed by the local priest to say you were regular church goers.  The school is well over subscribed within the parish.  Preference is given to those with sibling currently at school followed by straight line distance you live from the school

If you head to Garfagnana go and have look at Vagli Sotto, it has a dam and a lake  Lago Di Vagli, at the bottom of the lake is a village that was depopulated when the dam was built.  They empty the dam every couple of summers and you can visit the abandoned village.

Should you want to hire a bike, up the mountain from Vagli Sotto is a village called Roggio, the hotel there (only 1 in the village) hires bikes and caters for all fitness levels.

If you drive from Pisa to Lucca on the old road that goes under the mountain there is a great restaurant just before the tunnel, doesn’t look anything special but does traditional food, doesn’t have a menu and is cheap.

The drive from Castlenuovo to the coast at Forte de Marmi is rather spectacular, nice beaches but busy and expensive.

Weeksy that would have been me.

Did ToW 6pm yesterday, first time up AdZ for me, a very pedestrian 1:28.  Not sure that AdZ will be a regular route for me.

planned to do the 9:15 wbr but due to jet lag found myself still awake at 5am and my normal alarm clock (a 2 year old) somehow slept in until gone 9.

looking forward to rest of ToW, never done the Pretzel before so stage 7 will be something new.  By the looks of strava pretzel is tougher than fire and ice?

Currently in Bella Plagne. Monday mountain road was closed and it snowed lots so instructors/lifties struggled to get to work, consequently not much open.
Tuesday winds kept the higher lifts closed but most of lower stuff open and a glorious day.
Today another blue sky day, glacier is shut but most the rest is open, avalanche risk down to 3. Fabulous conditions.

Should be good next week @graham1980

Did that last year (with the school’s permission) and the exact same holiday was about three grand cheaper.

Yep, We are off to Bella Plagne with Esprit on Sunday with a 6 and 2 year old. Difference between next week and Feb half term is £3.5K, no-brainer despite the probable school fine.

My mother in law had similar letter about 4 days after having a scan, obviously she spent the next 3 days panicking, got to the appointment to be told that her test results were all clear!

Good luck, try not to think the worst.

First Zwift race in a while for me, been a lazy/injured summer. Did some Zwift workouts earlier in the week having ahem adjusted my weight up and knocked 50W off last springs FTP. Entered the WBR 1 lap at 6am. Due to weight/less power decided to demote myself to D. Only 4 of us, dropped 2 on the embankment then spent next 10 minutes playing cat and mouse with other chap. I went under the banner on Strand but was done with 200m to go. Winner got DQ so I got the win, wasn’t flat out but ended up bang on the D limit, Zwift also popped my FTP back up a chunk. So looks like I need to stick with C, this is fine for short races but no way can I currently hold that power for a hour race. Need to keep the momentum up now and get myself a bit fitter again. Might do the 3pm 1 lapper later.

Just booked last week in January with Esprit in Bella Plagne with the family.

Been to La Plagne a few times but never stayed in Bella Plagne, anyone stayed at the Esprit hotel there?

Going to bite the bullet with school and risk the fine.

    40 days and counting.

Sneaked a cat win in the 17:05 1 lap flat today. Actually 5th over the line but 4 above me got upgraded.

Not got the fitness/too fat to do any good in longer races at the moment.

First ski lift would have been on the dry slope at Aviemore Centre.
My first lesson would have been the year before when there was no tow, which at the age of 10 in 1981 really sucked!

Also had my first lesson here in 79 or 80 could have sworn it had a lift. this is the place in Aviemore town not up the mountain?

First snow lift was a couple of months later in Bardonecchia.

Do you know all the other parents? Bit strange that the concerned parent didn’t come and speak to you to see if your son was ok rather than phoning your wife.

Presuming you do not know the area then the easiest way is head down to the embankment from finish.

Get on the ‘cycle superhighway’ (CS3) and head east, this is segregegated from traffic all the way to Tower bridge.

Head north about 200 yards and look for signs for CS2 at the Aldgate.

Go east on CS2 it is one long straight road, after 3 miles you will get to a roundabout, keep heading straight on CS2 and you will see the Olympic Stadium on your left.

Another vote for the Beckham free kick, was at the match, cue much jumping up and down by everyone and then my 20+ stone mate landed on me.

Penalty shoot out versus Spain in 1996 was another good un.

Was lucky enough to visit the Olympic Park for several days in 2012. the genral atmosphere was fantastic sat with a beer watching the big screens.

Weeksy: What made you ride a HT rather than a road bike. I did this last year and IIRC the vast majority were on road bikes, yes you had to take it easy and pick your lines on the descents to avoid punctures but that aside road bike was the easier option.

My only pro tip is to teach them to hold their head back and still when clipping up – that fastex buckle only has to nip once and they’ll be terrified of the damn thing!

Really wish I had read this advice 5 years ago. Took 2 years after the incident to get the strap done up without a fight.
