    Most anniversaries – not important.
Upcoming 40th, – yes, I might even buy her a card.
(My best man, bless him, told me the night before our wedding that he’d reckon we would split up within a year.

Ge rid of the old carpet, even if you have to show bare boards. Mrs M was asthmatic at both her parents’ house (old farmhouse) and in our own, until we chucked out some old carpets and put down wood flooring where possible, with rugs elsewhere. Lots of ventilation helps, too.

Mrs W could sit in the back with the littlest, to help. Or she could drive & you sit next to the bairn.

For guidance, a LWB Ducato is 6m long, 1m longer than a big Jag or BMW.
You could live in one if the layout is good.

My SWB Iveco Daily was only 5.3, I think, but the rear overhang meant that sideswiping lamposts when parking was a pain.

Deadly, there’s a couple of Softie Kestrel 6 for sale in Fishponds on GUmtree, £40 each, unused. Definitely worth a look.

Mrs M took an MA in Education management with the OU< which certainly helped her career. It wasn’t easy, & required a fair amount of self-discipline.

As for languages, go for it. As we leave the EC English will become less and less the language of EU business, so skills in Spanish (and especially German) will help you land work – depending on what you do, of course.

Understanding Latin doesn’t make one intelligent, it just indicates a type of education rather than a level of learning.
Using it in speech to hoi polloi is plain rude or inconsiderate.

If JRM is using it to make a comedic point, he’s doing it for the benefit of his mates, not the poor saps who would suffer from his law-making.

In a country where around 5% of the population understand any Latin, using that language to make a point is purely exclusionary.
    Snobbery, to put it bluntly.

Late last century we swapped houses several times with German familes for our holidays. In one therewas an early ‘1930s school atlas, showing the German view of Europe’s power balance, with antagonistic powers on all sides: France, Russia, Britain and others. From a German perspective, it looked most scary – hence the reason for their re-armament.

However I know that there are slow-worms in the compost heap, so there’s wildlife out there.

I use the cheapest Phillips 3-head rechargeable, which cost me around £50 in a Boots sale about 3 years ago. It still workds well. It’s not so close as a wet shave, but when the stubble comes through it’s not nearly as scratchy either, so I reckon overall it’s moe comfortable.

He may have brought the notes specifically to subtly show you that he has prepared for the interview, and wasn’t just winging it. I’d say it’s a strong positive.

It’s not an exam, it’s an interview. I prepare notes prior to interviews to remind me to cover all the questions I have for the employer.

iirc, the 1st few K of a lodger’s rent is tax-free, but check with HMRC online for confirmation. I assume you are living in the property.

I miss my 9000 full turbo, the most comfortable car I’ve ever owned, & quite quick too.

I was a salesman for 30+years, driving large distances for work. The only car that ever broke down on me was an 2009 diesel 308. Twice. Once it needed a new engine, once “just” a new clutch, which necessitated removing the engine. Both times it was off the road for weeks. Apart from that, I’ve driven Vauxhall, Ford, Volvo, VW, Nissan, Honda, Citroen (BX!) BL, Fiat and a lovely SAAB with no problems.

Mrs M hated driving, it, too.
On the plus side, the 308 SW is good for carrying bikes, with a very high load area. You might need them for getting home.

just in case, don’t eat anything containing poppy-seeds (eg bagels) befor you go. There’ll be enough traces of opium in your system to get you locked up.

Apart from the basic chemical building blocks, it’s unlikely they will be have any similar proteins or nucleic acid chains to earth life, so we probably can’t eat them. However, they may be able to use us as a food source and we won’t have any immunity or defences at all. Yum.

NK remembers that the US killed about 20% of its people in the 1950s, and has a record of near-genocide in Asia.
That’s why they are scared and posturing.
The US loves to have an enemy to justify their huge armed forces, & NK is a suitable threat to complain about.
It helps to distract from the real problems.. domestic firearms

    Gumtree, but collect in person.
Regarding knowing about it, yes. It’s a great location, has good bands and sells out early every year.

    Beware of bees.
The lovely Mrs M attempted to climb Etna sometime in the 80s, when lightweight boiler suits for women were fashionable. She wore one. Somehow a large bee crawled into her clothing & stung her on the arse. She was stark naked and slapping at her backside in seconds, to the amusement of other tourists.
Aforesaid arse took a few days to return to normal, unstung size.

My parents had a cottage on the NYM for many years – it was great when there were kids around, but it became a burden: there was always something which needed doing and always a need to go to the cottage rather than holiday elsewhere. So I’d say don’t – it’s the reason I have a campervan rather than a rural retreat.
Having said that, some friends let theirs to defray running expenses, but letting it means they can’t just decide to go to their place whenever they want.

The visitor centre is good, the cafe indifferent.
The stones themselves are much smaller than you’d guess but the landscape worthwhile. It’s evocative if you walk the half-mile from the centre to the stones via the Cursus rather than directly.I’d go in November for preference, as the place is absolutely heaving in summer.

I’m European first. We say “Europe” instead of “The Continent” beacasue it’s shorter. Usually we mean western Europe, this side of the Iron Curtain, as opposed to Scandinavia or eastern Europe, which is that side of the Curtain.

it is, of course, geographically, culturally, and historically incorrect,

I reckon it is correct, though unspecific. Camping in Brighton or Hebden Bridge could equally correctly be described as camping in Europe.

No, there is no limitation, or if there is, it’s more than the 10 years I suffered from. If you need to apply, get a professional to do it.
