Anything that comes out of Radstock can’t be all bad.

Good luck – enjoy the leave and I hope you find something.

    WCA: who’s recruiting, then?

    Moses

If a company is actively recruiting you could take some assurance that they have a fairly sunny disposition at the moment.

Skid- WCA is in sales. After the rats leave the sinking ship, companies have to recruit salesmen fast. They make promises they can’t keep. Often the most frequent recruiters are the worst to work for, as they have rapid turnover of p1s5ed off staff.

Nick, in your position you need to be dead sure that the company you’re moving to is secure and has an excellent product and support, and has the potential to stay that way.

I moved for similar reasons to yours a few years ago, to a company with very shonky software to sell. It screwed up my career completely – once news of the bad product got around, I couldn’t sell a thing. Result – less money, bad sales record (which had been excellent before) , couldn’t get back onto the ladder except by joining desperate shonky companies which perpetuated the problem. Don’t move unless you’re sure.

Do you see Bible bashers down at the homeless and washed-out

    Yep, the Sally Army, etc.
And a very good thing, too. They don’t try too hard about the conversion, either, as they’re too busy being Christian and charitable.

Trev, if you know what they’re worth, why ask?
If you don’t know, why argue?

Fred, golliwogs get their name from their similarity to a fledgling bird or golly – big eyes and and red mouth. Dunno where the wog comes from, tho.

And mongol for Downs syndrome is because of the typical eye formation of people with that syndrome, appearing like north chinese/mongols.

Yes. It’s a great story of individual and group achievements, shorn of context.

Another war that should never have happened, and which could have been avoided.

Incidentally, I reckon that the defence agreements made with the US, to get their co-operation and satellite pictures, are those which have resulted in Blair poodling Bush into Iraq.

Dr t: Give us a clue about the type of business.

As above, I guess the important thing for you is to keep an income.
So you need to know the projected compnay incomes, cash-flow, outgoings, and who the customers will be. Who will be backing you all? What’s in it for you apart from a change of employer?
And get it all in writing first, before resigning.

I know a bloke who joined his mates on a promise of shares and a massive income, then was offered much less once he’d resigned from his previous.

It depends what time you plan on arriving. I’d try Horfield Rd (off St Michael’s Hill, behind the BRI) or Perry Row. There’s usually a space or several until 7:30ish. If they fail, go to Trenchard St park, just along Park Row from Perry Row, which is 2 mins from the Hippo

Nope, the term was invented as a joke / pun as a derivative of Monroe.

I used to make my own beer from kits, and some of it was pretty good. Some of it wasn’t, but it was very cheap and strong. Keep it all very clean is the main thing to rememeber.

And brewing at home is perfectly legal, so long as you don’t sell it.

I may not remember the war, but I remember National Health orange juice, and farthings. Not penny farthings, either.

You can’t help growing old, but you don’t have to grow up.
Just older than TJ, I reckon. Nearly 56. The perfect age for women who like mature men.

My scariest was also in the Himalayas, but in a damp rhodedendron forest. Once the first fart was out, the forest floor woke up and I could watch hordes of leeches looping their way towards my arse. So it was strain, drop, shuffle sideways away from the leeches, and repeat, and repeat.
    They didn’t catch me!

It’s got a shot of ketamine in it, too.
With those brakes it’ll end up under a taxi some late evening.

you’ll find there is a little pot of water in there like a coffepot.
After poo, pour some into your left hand. Wipe. Repeat.

Do not use your left hand for eating.

Poo is often dug into the fields, so don’t use paper.

In some areas, there will be separate holes for urine & poo. Try not to mix them.

Have you asked the new residents of your old house to send them on?
If not, why not? Too idle?
Yes, accept the goodwill. It’s only a pair of pads, ffs

It’s the 2 miles to work which is the clincher.
Ask him how long it takes to drive in the traffic, park up, get into the office, etc.
Then ask him to walk one day a week. He can get a taxi or a lift back if necessary. Or start by driving there, walking home, and walking in the next day.

It’ll only take an extra 30 mins a day, if that.
Non-walkers find the idea of walking a couple of miles difficult to understand; there’s a blockage saying "If it’s a driving distance, I couldn’t possibly walk it", so it may be a good idea for him to walk the equivalent with the family one weekend.

And suggest his wife (assuming she is the cook, or shopper) prepares more salads for him to reduce his calorie count while filling him up.

Some work. Our library services are good.

But my next door neighbour spent 12 years "on the sick", after Avon CC was split in ’96. He suffered from stress, but couldn’t be arsed to find a stress-free poor paying job. Now he’s on a full pension, off ski-ing. He is just an idle tosser who sucks money from the rest of us.

It winds me up so much.

    To you, only £100 posted.

is it only people from “away” that have accents?

Yes. We recognise people who don’t speak like our day-to-day contacts.
Tis funny how Brits who pride themselves on not having an accent, will suddenly pride themselves on having a nice English accent when they are in (say) the US.

Bring back the dog licence system, I say.
It would make people think twice about getting & keeping a dog.
WHen introduced, I think it was set at about a week’s wages for the average man. Say, about the same as an expensive bike?

I don’t know – but I do know that lots of people with teeth problems fly to Hungary or POland for cheaper dentistry, have a short fun holiday and save money. If you’ve other work that needs doing, check it out. But I’ve no idea where to look. The Cosmopolitan forum?

I’m sorry, I’m going to have to wimp out. Something has come up. I was really looking forward to meeting you all (well, some of you) again. Later in the year, I hope.

Fills you up, lowers cholesterol levels, increases fibre hence better poos and less chance of various cancers.

    An excellent breakfast.

I have rellies living in the FoD. They used to farm until foot’n’mouth wiped out their stocks. The wife has seen a big cat at about 50 yds in low light, across one of their own fields. It was in a gateway, so its size was easy to estimate, and as she’s used to farm animals, dogs deer and boar, knows it wasn’t any of them. This was 3-4 years ago.

On the other hand, in 97 or so, a rigid fork, 7-speed, canti braked steel-framed bike would have cost £800 (GT Karakorum). You could get something much better for the money today.

If a pound sterling is worth 25% less than it was a year ago, it’s not really surprising, is it?
