What we need is more acadamies where the managers set and enforce the curiculum,

They could enforce accurate spelling, for a start.
    Academies?
    Curriculum?

    1. Yes,
    2. The latter.

    Is that all for now?

    Nope. Pretty dismal.
I travelled right across town to get a key cut, then had to repeat the journey later in the morning. 1.5 hours wasted. Then I discovered a screw embedded in a van tyre, which will probably cost £100 to fix.
    Work’s a drag.

On the plus side, I spoke to WCA earlier and will meet Peter Poddy later. How sociable!

+1 for actually trying the bikes / frames for size.
I’ve just exchanged a 49cm Langster for a 49cm Kona Major One: the Langster was way too small, the Kona is good. The lady with whom I swapped founds the Kona too big but the Langster OK. She’s about 5’5″, I’m about 5’8-9″.

Seriously though. How many hints do you have to drop before they stop pretending they don’t know what you’re talking about!

ooh, is this an emotional intelligence test?
men don’t usually have it, so hints will not work. If you want something, you have to ask for it.
You may have to be very specific, too.

I will pass on your comments to the vicar of Ambridge when I meet him at dinner in a couple of weeks.

I went Saturday & enjoyed it much more than I’d expected; there were some beautiful bikes and fascinating people. It’s amazing how the focus of the industry is moving back towards road usage after the 1980-2005 shift towards MTB. I guess in the UK that reflects the renewed interest / fashionability of bikes for normal people.

I still like my 96-97 dark blue splatter Karakorum, which replaced the pale blue Tequestea that was nicked. Mrs M rides it around town these days, it’s comfy and fun. It’s got Mary bars rather than the original bullhorns, though

I wanted a blue one, ordered from my LBS, 10 days later & voilá.

Mrs M’s day-to-day town bike is a 96 or 97 Karakorum in dark blue speckle pattern. It’s a very easy ride. There’s a Flexstem in the shed, too, still attached to a Raleigh frame.

It’s an analytics tool. Yes, I know there’s lots of them. I’m told that early customers including hedge funds and components of the US Army have found it very useful.

As for WARNING, thanks for your concern.
I recognise the CTO from a previous existence, and I will be sitting in on a couple of webexes to banks and other institutions before making any decisions; a guy whom I respect has interviewed the CEO and has reported favourably. And what have I got to lose except time?

It’s not as good as it sounds – they’ve no VC money so it’ll be zilch basic but decent commission; hence the part-time and my concern about lead times.
And I landed it by answering a semi-techy question on another forum and having a LinkedIn profile that fitted.
MSP: I have gone far in sales, thanks! I’ve not accepted anything, this is part of my due diligence.
But I know that sales cycles in other industries in the UK-EU tend to be longer than in the US, I’m trying to find out if the same applies to financial services.

    Cheers, KB.
I’m only in the US every 6 months, and even that might drift to nothing.
    I’ll look at xe.com though.

GSK don’t give a **** about peoples health they just care about money and profit, they have killed many very ill people over the years and frankly I hope the CEO rots in a very painful death

Are you pretending that the drugs that GSK and others have designed, developed and sold don’t save lives ? Yes, they need to make profits, because it can cost $1Bn to get a new drug to market. The pharmaceutical business exists to save and prolong lives, which it does. Compare our average lifespans to those of 100 years ago.

I’ve had the Kiwis but I find they drag at my thighs and are really uncomfy when walking, & haven’t found anything that really suits except combat trousers which are good for walking in but lousy for cycling and look deeply uncool.

Close up photo please, in focus and with a scale. Then you may get a proper answer.

    Otherwise, it’s a baby robin.

At age 17, Whitehaven to Stockton on a 5-speed tourer with luggage.
About 116 miles through the Lake district & across the Pennines.

At 57, dead on 100 miles Reading to Bristol via the Kennet-Avon Canal psychopath and a couple of minor detours.

Check the contract for cut-price sales royalties!
A friend of mine got stung, so although her book sells steadily she gets nothing from Amazon sales as they are discounted.
Tell him to get an agent.

Technically, yes – but the CPS will not prosecute unless there’s a good chance of conviction. Read the motorhome thread linked to above.

Note: I spent 3 nights last weekend unfit to drive my camper, but the keys were hung up, the blinds drawn, screen down, and we had no trouble whatsoever.

My darling daughter would have had Berkeley as a middle name, had she been a boy. There are some very peaceful spots in the castle grounds.

    She doesn’t know.

    I am Captain Bald.
I wear a hat frequently because my head gets very cold in winter and very hot in summer when the sun shines.
It is difficult to find a hat that both fits and doesn’t look too stupid when worn. Nice hats often go missing which leavess my shiny skull skin unprotected.

Most airports give the bags away, in my experience.
    Not Bristol, however.

I’ve had a locking Swiss Army Knife confiscated, dammit. It was hidden lost deep in a bag I’d previously used for a camping trip. Otherwise, just the usual waterbottles. I wish that I could take my tiny Leatherman through so I wouldn’t need to check in any bags.

Remember that hotels etc charge per room, not per person, so you’ll be lucky to find somewhere in W Europe for £40-50 a night. Couch surfing sounds like a good idea if you can afford roaming internet on your phone. But you’d be expected to pay for beers instead, of course.

Molgrips is right, if you go the long way round it might work out cheaper overall.
