Oh god. They’ve been following me.
    Except I prefer cider.

I walked to the other fortlet on top of the hills behind. forget the Napoleonic war, the memorials to the dead boys of 1990 made me cry. There’s a small redoubt overlooking the next valley. It’s poignant. Spot the fallen pylons on the way down, too.

How complete is the sales process? And how did it happen so quickly?

I’d say, don’t offer to work for free, you’re undervaluing yourself & they may try to offer lower wages. An unofficial chat is a good start, ask what qualities they are looking for, then tell them how you meet those needs. And ask if you can have the job, at the end of the interview

The sales techniques involved are usually lies to your clients to get them to place orders, like estate agents always telling you that someone else is looking at the house your interested in. They are called closing techniques and are nearly always lies.

Either you’re a bad salesman or working for a bad company with a bad product. A lie is not a close, it’s a lie. I suggest you change role, or get some decent training and examine your business ethics.

Nah, been a salesman for many years & enjoy it. I’ve made a couple of my bosses into millionaires, but sadly not myself.
Selling is a calling, where would the oldest profession be if not for the pimps?

Should be no problem, I’ve done so for many years. I had to use a circular saw on the cupboard back to allow cables through.

If anyone doubts the danger of CO2, try breathing a mixture of air & CO2, the reflex to get away from it’ll knock you backwards.

It’s heavier than air & displaces it in some circumstances. A few years ago there was a big release from a volcanic lake vent in Africa (Cameroon?) which killed thousands.

I run a Kona Major One around town, 42 / 18 I think. getting up Bristol hills dictated a bigger rear cog. It’s a lovely lovely bike, or was before I started abusing it

Did they trace the lady on the bicycle ?
It’s just as well her brakes worked.

Worktop Express here, too. Cheltenham based, I think.
We bought 40mm oak, no regrets. It’s heavy. They will cut to size, including sinks etc

Recover quickly & completely please, mate.
We need more photos of arses on bicycles.

Scott used to commute from his home in Stockton to college in Hartlepool past the flarestacks and chimneys of ICI Billingham works. Apparently that’s the inspiration for the opening scenes of urban dystopia.

I googled Scottish Oatcakes & got this :

which looks about right to me. If you don’t like salt, leave it out.

If there’s a handy connection, take a local train to Clifton Down, then wander to the Bridge via the Downs. Then it’s downhill to the docks via some nice architecture in Clifton, lunch in the Nova, back by the Ss Great Britain.
Or from Clifton Down station walk down Whiteladies via the Museum & Wills Building, park Street, Brandon Hill, Georgian House / Red Lodge, Xmas Steps and then through the old tram centre to the Docks. It could be a long day. Make it a weekend. Take your bikes & go for a ride in Leigh Woods.

Riding definitely yes, ragging maybe, jumping hardly at all on a rigid singlespeed. I’m 60.

After loosening the bolts, it’s sometimes useful to give the whole thing a tap with a rubber mallet to relieve any binding.

£60k household income puts you in the top 15% in the UK. The median is down in the low £20’s – in other words half the households live on less.
£60 / year is RICH. If you choose to spend it on mortgages, that’s your choice, but don’t whinge.

If he turns up at your place, can a mate at least follow him home? And you must know his vehicle number. Both would help.

If you park in the Leigh Woods car park, it’s far enough from Brisfest to be OK – I reckon. If it’s not, head back half a mile towards the M5, turn L (S) towards Abbots Pool. You can gride there or back towards 50 acre & Ashton Ct.

Gloucester Rd are is great (I live very close) but a bit of a hike to Whitchurch. Go for S of the river if you can.

It was a few years ago, so we had to join a “club” to put our house in a catalogue, which was then posted out to us. We then wrote or phoned possible swappees to ask if they were interested, and if so, when.
Most UK swaps were arranged via the NCT. I think now Mumsnet has a similar system.

Now I guess it’s all online and therefore much easier.

In practice, Germans & Scandis are keener to come to the UK, than vice versa. The Canadians, 50/50. We live in Bristol so described our location as close to Bath, as more foreigners know it as a tourist destination.

We swapped cars with the Canucks, not the Euros. It all worked well although there was a little damage a couple of years. You just have to have trust, and they have to trust you. It helps if you’re not too houseproud and don’t mind other people sniffing your knicker drawer & using your sex toys.

It was much better than renting villas, as the kids had toys, the kitchens were fully equipped, we had entertainment systems for the rainy days & neighbours to help.

    And it’s a printer, not a copier.

I did this lots when my kids were youngish, before the days of internet.
It was great, no duff holidays for a dozen years. We swapped both in the UK for long weekends and abroad for fortnights. Sweden x 3, Canada x 2, France x 2, Germany x 5.

What about the Hyperloop as an alternative?

With postulated costs of US$5 bn for a 400 mile much longer track, compared with £50bn + for HS2, it must be worth spending say £1bn on a proof of concept.
Hyperloop could be built above existing infrastructure to minimise disruption.

(PS, don’t criticize the engineering without reading the pdf, not just other comments)

If you’re travelling from some distance away from Dover, I’d recommend the ferries. They take longer but you get a chance to stretch your legs, eat, & rest. The chunnel means you’re stuck in your car all the time, it’s not a break.

Yes, she was. I’ve just checked with Mr Google.
How wonderful to see pictures of ladies with fanny-fur on the interweb, not like these modern girls.

A couple of Le Creuset pans, which we are still using years later.
Also, donkey’s years ago, some Arthur Ransome hardback childrens’ books. I walked 100 yards to the nearest bookshop & got a fiver for them. Probably about £25 in today’s money.

Do you live in an 80-year old house with iron pipework?
It looks like iron / bacteria growth.

Karin, skype can run on a PC as well as phones. I assumed that your website was for biggerscreens than phones.

BTB: My imaginary / putative website would have features of webcommerce or dating-type sites, with choices made from predefined lists taking users to new screens.

Gosh, Neil – I was dragged up very close to your place, & my ex is only about 4 streets away.
Can WP take a back-end database? One day I have to construct a big website, & can’t afford £30k for a developer to do it.

IMHO, “in writing” now means “as opposed to a phone call”.
An application by email will be read by more people than the posted version, which will get to HR then binned, because they can’t forward it to the line managers.

    So the answer is Yes.

rare known side effect, bit of an oxymoron when two people out of two in the same family suffer from the same side effect

Not an oxymoron at all. It’s very probable that two people with similar genetic make-up would suffer similar side-effects from a particular drug.

You’d have to prove what conditions the BB height were measured with, and if you looked at a UK-specific informations source. Perhaps they measured with the fork at full height & locked out?
Any way, change your tyres once they’re worn, to something taller.
