I worked in an experimental recycling project in about 1980. Our work involved sorting domestic refuse, dustbin rubbish. We learned that any bundles of magazines double wrapped in plastic bags and then taped shut, were bound to be porn. What a lot we found! Everything from Mayfair to very unleasant specialist stuff which I couldn’t face.

On a positive note, facial recognition systems aren’t going to be so much use when everyone goes around wearing a mask :)

Stick a mountain bike front chainset on, go as low as you want.

I did, following a heavy braking incident in a car leading to a rotated right hip. About 1.5″ I remember. A chiropracter spotted the problem, crunched my hip, sorted the problem.

II understand that there’s a risk of injury associated with cycling, but apart from that, what’s the risk to oneself or anyone else of going for a long ride? 2 m apart, not coming into contact with anyone or anything else – zilch risk, I think.

Pedalling up & down the Cuckoo Railway track may be different, however. (Local reference)

Viewranger with the OS option, all UK at 1:25k for £25/year. It’s good. I like the facility to toggle from OS to OpenMaps, for a different interpretation.

I’ve read that several Indian API manufacturers have switched to making hydroxychloroquine. It’s a well establshed synthesis so supply shouldramp up soon. But the population of India is likely to come first in line. Given the speed of our own government at taking action, the UK will be well down the list.

Not an MTB, but Mrs M has a Whyte Highgate hybrid which she loves. She’s taken it on much longer rides than she would otherwise do, & since Sept 2018 has put on about 3500km.

Ask your builders’ merchant what types of sand are available. Yes,some types from iron-rich sand deposits will turn your kids and their clothes and some of your furniture orange.

    Guess how I know this.

    Civil Nuclear Constabulary.

Armed Police Force for looking after Nuclear power plants and transport of Nuclear materials.

With big guns, too, I’ve seen them practicing at Otterburn. A closish relative used to be their boss. He wasn’t too pleased when the UK left Euratom against advice.

When you’re plumbing the thing, add a “muslim shower” or shower hose . It’ll only cost a few quid and the ability to hose away the klingons as opposeed to wiping, wiping, wiping, is marvellous.

The Babyliss SuperCrew that Binners recommends is OK but wont cut well around the ears (they do provide a small clipper with the main product for tidying up)
Babyliss now do a Crew Cut thingy that works with a pair of blade trimmers. Half price sales abound, taking them down to £38 or so. They were at Xmas, anyway. Both of them work fine on longer hair so once every 2-3 weeks keeps hair looking neat. The Skull shavers work like Phillips razors so tend to miss anything longer than a couple od days’ growth.

Use the above, plus listen to internet radio in Ukrainian as background, to get more used to the sounds. Remember to swear at it , too.

TINAS, I’m surprised that you choose to brew with soft water – Burton is a centre for brewing because of its sulphate rich haard water.

But for coffee I dunno. THe more expensive Nescafe Azera with grounds is as good as real, in my opinion.

Have a word with the friend to tell him to watch his own behaviour. Yes, this might mean withdrawing your son from the activities if the mate’s attitude towards him changes. DBS checks are on a “nothing known against” basis rather than anything deeper, so don’t mean more than a person hasn’t been cautioned or charged.

Was there not a scurrilous rumour that Andrew’s father is Porchester, the Queen’s special friend? And for that reason was her favourite child?

As 5plus says, grow a pair.
A couple of days without hot water is reasonable, just try getting a heating techie at short notice and you’ll find out.
Keep paying the rent, or you will be in breach of your impending contract.
You could download a specimen contract from the internet and have it readt to be signed when you next meet. Smoke alarms: Buy a couple, ask for reimbursement from the LL. It’ll be easier than finding somewhere new to live. And remind him that your deposits need to go into the DPS. Ask him if he can forward the email they will send him when the deposits are accepted.

Into a van, into a shipping container, to a 2nd world country where there’s demand but not so much money. I saw a couple of UK brand bikes (Boardman?) in Colombia last winter, it’s not likely they were legit.

WIll the LBA give you a partial refund / trade-in on a swap? Or was the Boardman from a different shop?

FYI: If you don’t have a spare wheel fitted, it’s possible to buy LPG tanks designed to fit the recess which a wheel would fit into.

They are also generally unused to hearing it spoken with an accent, compared to people who live in the UK hearing English in all sorts of accents.

This ain’t so, Galician and Catalan are almost separate languages from Castilian yet mutually intelligible. In urban areas the Spanish are used to accents and dialects in the same way that we are. And the varieties in S America are different again. If you are using Duolingo or other tools, then at least choose the Castilian Spanish or S. American version depending on your destination; they have both .

    I’m pathetic and 66.
I occasionally have a brief chat with the lass in the greengrocers, who is mid-20s, Brazilian & friendly.
A couple of months ago she asked if I was single…..

“because my mum needs a boyfriend”

We are still speaking, but her mum’s left the area.

It’s a shop, not an abattoir. Don’t be hysterical.
I’d rather see that than sanitised plastic-wrapped disguised meat in a standard supermarket.

How about a walking weekend in the Dales combined with a visit to Altberg’s site? (Make an appointment) Mrs M has a broken toe bone, Altberg’s fitting service has made a huge difference to her enjoyment of life.
Don’t knock Cotswold Leisure too much, I had terrific service from them when I last bought a pair of Scarpas from them.

    Just don’t.
Motorbikes are fun, fast & dangerous to fall off.
There were 13 of us on my MSc course, a few years back. Add spouses, 26 people.
Within a year of the course ending, one of us and one woman’s husband, had died in bike accidents. Both were experienced , both hadn’t had any accidents beforehand.
And I know of others who have lost limbs or injured themselves badly. Just don’t.
