    It’s a 9-sp 11-30 cluster, standard.
A 34T rear sprocket would only give me an 11% lower uphill ratio, whereas if (say) a 28-40 chainset fitted, this would be around 18% better, and I suspect that I’d not notice the lack of top end.

AS the currrent chainset is from a road groupset, I don’t think that there is enough room to go to much smaller chainrings at 110mm spacing

Going back to the original question, the Give Way sign is an order, a mandatory sign.
The others are for information / warnings.
    Hence the different shapes.

A quiet word is the answer.
Even if the person has turned over a new leaf, the new employer can just keep a more careful eye on them until they are shown to be clean.

I’ve used Specsavers for several years. They are big enough to have all the latest equipent, and a decent choice of frames.
If you resist the sales talk about super-thin lenses and speciality coatings you can get a single pair for £25 or two for £70 in a different range. There’s nothing wrong with the £25 pairs – I’m wearing some now. If you want designer stuff, that’s available as well.

Start short, canal boats are slow. There’s a fine line between relaxing and tediously boring, you don’ know how your presonality will react to being a prisoner.
Try to avoid having to negotiate the Devizes lock system, it will take you all day to travel a mile. 27 of the damn things.

Buy it. My house is from 1895, and still stands. About 50 years ago one of the bays had to be rebuily because of movement, and 30 years ago there was underpinning as the foundations were minimal (We are on clay) but if you have a cellar that implies deeper foundations.

The original timbers are mostly fine.
We’ve had damp where previous owners had banked soil up the walls to above floor level, but that was easily fixed. Others have suffered water ingress from uncapped chimneys.

    Not down the sink.
A couple of months after moving into this house, our outside drains blocked. I cleared them by putting my arm down the acces point and scraping out a retch-inducing agglomeration of coffee grounds & fat from the pevious owner. It set semi-solid so I had to claw my way into the abrasive mass with my fingernails. My hands stank for days.

I guess this is some sort of ELN or Workflow software, like Accelrys / IDBS / Xybion make for various areas?

Is it in use by your department? Do the users know who wrote it?
Usually unis have a policy by which Ip developed by staff belongs to them. You may have to consider that you might be in breach of policy by uploading external software to uni servers, and thus subject to disciplinary procedures.
    So check that out.

What do you actually want to happen? You could argue for setting up a spinoff, or you might want to make it public domain

Aarons? Otherwise google and Yell for local suppliers : there must be one in Avonmouth. For short lenghts you might find there’s a skip outside their premises for offcuts/

Train to Newport (2 hrs), change for Gloucester, get out at Lydney & you’re in the Forest of Dean.

or change at Newport for Abergavenny. 25 mins, & you’re at the foot of the Brecons.

I get on fine with a Philips rotary. I bought one of the cheaper 3-headed rechargeable in one of the regular sales (often around September for some reason) It works, it’s easy, there’s no faff.

Yes, but ask in the shop when you buy them.
As well as the wheel size, you need the tyre thickness figure too.

So look for something like 700 x 28c to 37c for the cross tyres.
    XC 29er tyres would be something like 700 x 45c to 60c

    Moses
    Full Member

It depends on the size of the tyre.
The wheels are the same diameter (28″) but 35mm tyres would take different tubes than 55mm (2.2″)

Why do you want the symmetric frame? Stays are asymmetric for a reason.
Or is it just for the looks?

If you need it for the summer, I suggest you just buy the Moonlander 2nd hand rather than faffing around kicking tyres & wasting time.

    62. I go out once or twice a week, but more often on my own as I’m slower than the guys I used to cycle with although they are all of similar age.
I’ve just gone from rigid to hardtail SS as my wrists were hurting after a ride.
I’d really like to improve my skills, though. I’m no good at dropoffs etc and I can’t wheelie.

No, I wouldn’t personally do so, but I don’t see it as a problem.
Using terms like “contemptuous” and “respect” shows this is really about territory and defensiveness rather than the actual risk of damage. It’s a git-orf-my-land thing for those less well endowed. (Property-wise of course. I have my suspicions of the other)
If there were a real risk of damage I could see your point, but if someone’s just idly leaning on a vehicle or wall etc it would be a fuss about nothing.

    Moses

Yes, they are more-or-less the same thing. No damage done to either. What’s the problem?

    Moses

    Oh for god’s sake…..
I live in a city. My car has to live on the street as there were no garages built 120 years ago. It’s been accidentally scratched by other peoples’ bad parking, and a mirror written off. It’s a pain, but it happens.
I don’t condone behaviour that would cause damage, but I can’t see how leaning / sitting on a car (not bearing much weight) or putting keys down on it would be objectionable. You know what? Sometimes I rest my gloves and helmet on the bike on the other side of the Sheffield stand when I’m locking my bike. I can’t see a problem with that, nor would I object if someone did the same to mine.

And kids sit or stand on my wall most days on the way home from school. Big deal, so what? It’s so they can jump out onto the pavement to scare their mummies. Why on earth would I object?

Cars have metal shells so that the sensitive insides don’t get damaged. These shells are designed to take the occasional 80mph piece of gravel hitting them, seagull poo and all sorts. Someone sitting on them with feet on the ground, or putting keys down isn’t likely to cause harm, so get off your high horse.
Or keep it in the garage if you’re so precious.

Yes, but it was very tame, just an evening bash many many years ago.

All I remember from it were that I hadn’t realised that the stripper had removed everything (it was dark, she was black) and I saw my first live badger when walking home along Coldharbour Road at 2am.

Heathrow’s not a hub, though. There aren’t that many other UK airports it serves. Nor is Gatwick.
They are built to serve London, not the whole country.

    Wood burning bloody stoves.
In cities and towns, at least.
Last winter, my suburb of Bristol smelled like an Indian village in the mornings with so much wood smoke in the air.
One day someone on the council will realise that the Clean Air Act applies just as much to wood as it did to coal and will start policing the place.
