Wow! What a can of worms this thread is!!!! but it’s not that black and white IMO.

The situation given by HORA gives many ‘outs’. It hadn’t got physical yet, so he could have walked away. He could have taken the kid back to the car and gone back in to ‘have words’. He could have said ‘wind it in, or I’ll call the police’. He could have got his phone out and started recording it so blatantly that the guy in the shop just stopped.

Don’t get me wrong, I deplore adults that beat up on kids. But I would sooner sit my son down and explain why something is wrong than to have him see me fighting.

My son has just turned 6 – so, yeah, my responses are focused on him being that age. If he was older, say 16 then I’d probably wade in without as much thought to it.

Let me ask you the question – would you steam in with your fists if you had your child(ren) with you if a shopkeeper was swearing at a couple of teens?

Stop cruelt to children with all of your might. Teach your kids this is right. Hope they’ll feel the same one day.

Completely agree. But by the same token, isn’t letting your child see you using violence also out of order?

Not my point. My point is that Hora seems to take exception if it had got violent, but is more than happy to use violence in front of his child.

Many more options available IMHO. Eg, walk away.

I work on the doors and have needed to use force as well as stopping force being used. One thing for sure is I would always explore EVERY opportunity to get out of the situation before my child saw me in a violent situation.

which leads me to believe that, if the owner had got physical, Hora would have replied in kind.

Maybe I’m just jumping to conculsions here, but it seems to me that Hora would have given the guy in the shop a bit of a slap if he’d have kicked of on the kids. This, in my opinion is nothing short of a disgusting thing to do infront of your own child.

hang on a minute – you’re kicking off about the shop owner being abusive to kids, infront of you and your kid, but if he’d have go physical you would have abused him in front of your own son???

it may be worth getting a local dent / chips & scratches mobile repairer to have a look. While what you spend won’t correlate to increasing the value of the car, it will help in keeping potential buyers interested. The same goes for Alloy wheel refurbs.

It it is major body work, then it’s more tricky. Best I could suggest for that is to find someone who works as a panel beater / sprayer and ask if they want to do a foreigner.

no problems here….I think the ‘STW massif’ seem pretty trusting as sellers and I have no concerns buying.

A number of times items have been posted while cheques are waiting to clear etc and everything I have bought is as described.

12 months of rockyness and threats of divorce….resulting in me moving out 5 or 6 times (or being kicked out….not sure which) then the last time was the straw that broke the camel’s back and I didn’t move back in.

It was all my fault etc etc, I was a bastard etc etc because I wouldn’t move back in with someone who, to cut a long story short, wanted everything on her terms without giving anything back.

That was 16 months ago. I go to court next month.

Hopefully, there will be end in sight!

I went over to Nant-yr-Arian yesterday. The weather was horrible and it made it all the more fun to ride.

I was with a riding partner who’s new to it (and I’m 5 rides into returning from 5 years)and we both loved it. It was different to how I remember…a lot more climbing (and yes I am very unfit on the bike) and the singletrack had changed a little but I loved it!

For me, getting back into it…finding my feet, falling off, building fitness etc, then Trail Centre’s are ideal.

I don’t mind driving out to them on a Sunday as I can’t really go during the week with other committments.

So – I am a trail-junky sunday-warrior who isn’t fit enough and can’t ride fast. Who cares?

I’ll pull over and let people past but I want to enjoy the riding i want to do. If that means stopping to take in the scenary (difficult yesterday seeing as in some places we were riding through clouds) then so be it. I’m out doors, on a mountain bike, riding it. And that makes me :mrgreen:
