    I GOT PAID!

Really good news as I haven’t had a pay cheque in over a year as I have been back to uni re-training.

As you will be able to tell from this post, I am a style guru and always look immaculate and ‘down with the kids’*

I buy Sainsbury’s jeans. They do what I need them to do. They:
    1) fit
    2) last well
    3) are hard wearing
    4) are cheap
    5) are comfy
    6) cover my gentleman bits
    7) they allow me to spend my hard earned on stuff I want to buy, not stuff I have to

*the fact that I actually typed ‘down with the kids’ makes that statement null & void

This is all speculation guys as we don’t know what has happened to the bike (if anything) and, tbf, it doesn’t matter a jot.

Seller – of opinion he provided decent goods
    Buyer – not happy

I’d go down the route of a private resolution. It is a PITA but worth it in the long run. I sold a Spesh Hardrock custom build on fleabay. Was 100% honest in the description (all parts working when built 12 months ago, covered less than 200 miles since, some parts may need servicing) but the buyer still came after me as the forks needed a service. In the end, I refunded £20 for the parts and he did the repair himself. Sorted.

When I worked at a Merc dealer, we had a guy do it in a CLK320 CDi.

He filled it up and ran it…stopped working and he got towed in. About £3k later it was ready to go…..then he did it again, worse the second time and the bill rocketed up to nearly £15k.

Can’t remember for the life of me whether the insurer wrote it off or not…*

*this was back in 2006 ish

many of the posters on this thread would happily rip off their own insurer and feel justified

Well, to counter that (and not to defend any criminal activity you understand….but

many of the insures posters in this thread use HAVE happily ripped off said posters and feel quite justified charging their over-inflated premiums

    ;-)

Sorry…should have made my point a little clearer…

This person is incredibly passionate about there beliefs. I am passionate about things also (reading, rugby and music – all things which my class are aware of and all things coincidently found on the national curriculum).

It is the passion about the beliefs that make me wonder if that line can be drawn….does that make sense?

I’d question their legal ability to detain you using those handcuffs.

Understandable them wearing stab proofs if the threat of being stabbed has been assessed to be high enough.

Perfectly legal. I am trained in “Arrest & Plastic Restrain”. The Security Guard has the same powers of arrest as anyone else (bar PCSO’s as they give up their right to arrest when on duty apparently) ie they can arrest for summary offences (those that are tried at the Crown Court)

I’ve arrested a couple or 3 people in my time and they’ve been cuffed – it is a very handy tool to have*

*although, if I was a security guard in mozzers, I’d be more than a little embarrassed if I needed to resort to cuffing someone over a 7p can of baked beans

IMO it is threads, discussion and the general visibility of threads like these which provide some of the response they see as justification for their actions.

They had a message they want to broadcast and will do it in as visible a way as possible. They use explicit imagery of murder to achieve this objective. And it works! We are talking about it. It is plastered all over the news media. Twitter, Facebook etc are all talking about it to a greater or lesser degree.

If our responses (by our, I refer to us as a general population and the news media, politicians etc) continue to be as vocal and outraged, then we are helping to elongate a self-perpetuating cycle.

I’m not saying that these things aren’t noteworthy or indeed the victims do not deserve to be mentioned, but I do thing that they have no reason to change their approach as it is working to their ends

MIL-to-be had to have her ankle rebuilt – that was part of the op. Her recovery was 3 months non-weight bearing BUT bear in mind it was a significantly more complex issue.

Although I haven’t got the broken bone thing, I am currently recovering from major knee surgery and, after 6 weeks ‘toe-touch’ weight bearing and a further 2 weeks of 1-crutching it, I am just about able to hobble about unaided.

Best bit of advice? Prepare yourself. Your leg WILL turn to jelly. You WILL end up like the hulk on one side and a 12 year old boy on the other. It WILL build back up but it will take its time. I was shocked at how much muscle-wastage there was :(

IME – double check EVERYTHING you are told by physios and Quacks. I had so much contradictory advice and it has set my recovery back a bit. Listen to your physio, do what they say and stay positive.

Look on the bright side, a break heals a lot quicker than a lot of soft-tissue injuries!!

Fatbike? Well…..I do a good enough job at the mo for me and the bike, so may have to avoid that one for now!

The stooge looks nice but would really prefer to go FS. I’ll try and head down somewhere to check out the Whyte – is there any way of getting my mits on a Canyon or is it still like finding rocking horse excrement?

One other thing….after not being able to do much of anything exercise related, my weight has ballooned. Any bikes you can think of suitable for a giffer?

I started Uni in 2001. I started working when I was 16 (work during holidays etc) and still needed the loan.
There hasn’t been a single month I haven’t paid something back since October 2004.
I have to pay 15% of my earnings over £15,000 PA. It doesn’t sound like a lot, but it doesn’t matter as it is taken out with my tax and NI so I don’t notice it going.
And I don’t begrudge it going out either. I racked up the debt (and before people say anything, I was tea-total for 2 years at Uni) so I will pay it back. That is the AGREEMENT I made and the RESPONSIBILITY I have as a mature adult.
I would love to turn around and say ‘you know what, things are a bit tight, so I’m not going to pay it off’ but I won’t.

I guess I must have been brought up proper or something….

if you want an idea for upgrades, I’m selling my hardrock at the mo. The only thing that is HR is the frame….I bought a frameset and everything else came later.

    Hope it helps.

Disgusting. Like above, citing is becoming a joke. I say bring in a 3 strikes rule for serious, intentional incidents. Eg – biting, gouging, stamping (as opposed to rucking) etc.

    Also, increase the bans. 1st offence = 12 weeks. 2nd = 36 and 3rd = permanent.

Super Saturday will be an excellent display of Rugby. There’s a lot of talk of ‘which French side’ will play….but I think it depends on which Welsh team turn up. If the Welsh are fired up and mentally prepared in the sense of ‘we deserve to win’ instead of handing away the victory (a la South Africa & France in the RWC) then the game will be incredible. England and Ireland both go into their game with points to prove and Scotland v Italy will be a close encounter, with every point of the low scoring game bitterly fought. It will be scrappy, but there will be the flashes of brilliance that both teams are capable of.

I’d be happy to tackle him on the Judo mat…..

All laughs aside, I was simply having a go at his child-like ‘teling teacher’ personality on the pitch. He is a cracking number 10, he is probably the best you have ever had…but my comments were not about his ability as a player, just that his on-field antics do me head in a little.

Granted he didn’t deserve the beating he got. But I’m now happy in the knowledge that it’s an easy picture to post if I ever want to sledge some Ireland fans in future.

yeah, but they have the same number of fortnightly gaps as the other teams, just in a different rotation. I think…

they didn’t play last weekend when the other teams did…they are playing this weekend when the other teams aren’t

    morgs

Either way both teams are at a bit of an unfair disadvantage going on to the following weekend’s games

Hmmm – haven’t they got the same gaps as the other teams?

As a Wales fan, I am anything but smug. England played well and targeted the areas of the Welsh game that would give them the biggest headache.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m over the moon we won, but it wasn’t an easy win and that’s credit to England.

Zokes – the link you posted was about a couple of ex-internationals having a boozy punch-up. To quote Martin Johnson “Rugby player drinks beer shocker”. I admit that I haven’t read the whole thread in depth, but I’m failing to understand what point you were trying to reinforce with it? If there wasn’t a point, it was just incendiary and therefore, pointless.
