I have read reviews on the tent I suggested that state that 4 people can sit in chairs in the tent. What they did was to unhook the sleeping compartment and move it back.

But as TJ says £60 is worth a punt on the one you are looking at. I would however look at the longevity and stability of something so cheap. In that price range you are going to have to make a compromise somewhere.

I’ve used the 661 Wrist Wrap Race and can recommend it.

    +1

Works well, used after broken wrist. Can use over a glove. Forget it’s there on a ride too, can get a little hot on a warm day but nothing bad.

Have a look at one of these

    http://www.worldofcamping.co.uk/sunncamp_evolution_300_tent_2011_model__2774?utm_source=google&utm_medium=merchant

The best bit is the sewn in ground sheet, not something usually found on tents at this price.

    Gets good reviews too

Yeah the chances are if you have set your mind on the new brakes you are going to buy them sooner or later!

I would say, look at your bike and see if that money is better spent else where, new wheels? uppy downy seat post?

If you have the desire to spend and spend and spend at least make sure you are doing it properly!

Well that is Ebay for you I’m afraid! Some sellers are diligent and post items quickly and some don’t.

If the ‘second’ set don’t show up talk to the seller and threaten paypal dispute.

Either way you get to leave feedback.

18 inch, longish legs tho. perfect fit.

Just have to try a couple and see which feels best before you buy.

    Thanks Mikey and TheArtistFormerlyKnownAsSTR,

I like the look of that 661 and Mikey, The Remedy is not one I have seen yet so will check it out. Good point about trying them on, few bike shops round here so will go and get a feel for them.

    Thanks again guys.

I’m running a Nobby Nic front and a Racing Ralph rear. Find them fast and grippy in the dry. The NN is a little skittish in the wet but not bad. I’m sure others will disagree but it’s personal choice innit!

Was running ADvantage F&R before I went tubeless. Liked them too only difference is they are a bit heavier, not quite as fast rolling but good all year round.

I’m sure you will get a bunch of different views and suggestions depending on how what where you ride. Me, Peaks, Calderdale and various trail centers.

I’m trying to get my head round a pretty simple function of the forum.

I see people quoting parts of other posts and would like to do the same in some of my replies.
I can see that above the section I am writing this post in there is a quote button but not sure how it works. Before or after I copy the text or maybe both?
Tried looking at the help section and watching various YT vids but would rather ask here than start posting total nonsense.

    Hints are much appreciated.

I would second Drac, you just don’t sound very interested or passionate in the song.

I listened to others you have uploaded too, kinda got the same impression. I really don’t want to sound rude but I would advocate vocal lessons as it sounds like you have an untrained voice to me. Defo not a bad start though and I can hear potential.

Try Low Wray, national trust campsite on Windermere.

Always had good time there. I think you can make bookings now, didn’t used to be the case but that is going back a few years.

Thanks so much Militant_biker, I have sent you the zip file I downloaded. I know it’s late so have a peek at your leisure. Any help or insight would be so great.

Thanks for the reply Militant_biker, I have tried to copy and paste the HTML into Safai but it just looks like text. Then I have an HTML file that I can open in Safari (lookslike a website) but I can’t work out how to edit….very confusing!!

can I email you my zip?

Well I do agree to some extent Roter but from going from ADvantage to NN I have felt a difference.

I am totally open to my technique being at fault. More than likely that is the issue. I try to hit roots straight on and not give the tyre chance to slide but I have no idea if that is right. have you got some pointers???

How have you found them on wet roots Roter Stern? Maybe I am just getting used to them but they seem like they would just go with very little warning???

I’ll second the OneOne recommendation, Good stuff going cheap. I have been running a new tubeless set up for the last 4 weeks. NN upfront and a RR on the rear. Great for dry conditions, fast rolling and good grip. However after the recent rain I have found the NN on the front to be very skittish over wet roots and rocks. Not sure I have much confidence in the NN as a front tyre despite reading on here that some folk run them all year round.

I’m going to play with the pressure but already at 35 PSI so not sure how low I can take it and still do the long loose rocky descents in the peaks without something bad happening. I’m now looking for something just as light but better for the wet rocky/rooty stuff.

If anyone has any ideas bring em on!

So you don’t have a bike for a few days… and have to hire one, not cheap out there. Can you claim the cost back from Sleezyjet or is it just tough titties?

If they do get it out will they get it to where ever you are in the Alps?

On a serious note I have only one bike, a 5.

I have built it up to be nice and light for summer, tyre choice makes a big difference. On bridal ways etc you wont need anything beefy. I’d say use the 5 but get it light and fast rolling, no more back problems plus it can be very quick.

Well any FS bike will be easier on your back, peterfile (oh I just got your user name….very funny 🙄 ) is right, the 5 is mega super awesome.

This is a tough one, you are looking at going from a big travel bike to a HT and wanting it to do your XC and your commute…I think I have that right? If you are fairly new to biking it is hard to settle on a bike that you think will fulfill your needs. You also have to consider how you will develop. Your Enduro might seem too much now but in time as you develop it might be your perfect bike.

Why not try something inbetween? Something like….

    http://www.canyon.com/_uk/mountainbikes/bike.html?b=2074

mboy is right, going to a HT will be a shock to the system. I would take some time to try some different bikes if possible.

Yeah heat can make things a bit harder but as previous posters have said, plenty of fluids. I find riding in cool or cold conditions much easier.

Don’t forget the sun cream too. When I know it’s going to be hot I get out as early as I can. I also pack my hydration pack bladder with ice, suckling from a warm bladder isn’t very nice and with it being cold it encourages me to drink more.

I was using the Advantage that came on mine until a week ago. Very good all round tyre, never had any problems with them although not great in mud.

Now have a Nobby nic up front and a Ralph on the rear (both tubeless). So far have been very happy. I should say I am still in the process of finding out how they bite in corners etc. Nice fast rolling summer tyre combo and light too.

Oh….both 2.25, they come up smaller than the Maxxis but that hasn’t bothered me.

Well I have put some of these on the cables

    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=10730

They work well but I have used electrical tape to keep them from slipping.

Where the cables run down under the rear shock I have put a small strip of electrical take on the frame. I found that the cables were rubbing at this point. I didn’t expect that so the frame has a little bit of rub.

Swing arm, inner tube held on by zip ties. Although you can use an over size neoprene thing. Defo worth protecting.

Bottom tube…I just have a crud catcher thing but to stop it rubbing I have put self adhesive foam on the crud catcher. They seem to be working well and the frame still looks good. I haven’t bothered with copter tape.

I have also used electrical take to protect the parts of the forks where the front brake might rub.

Hope you enjoy your new bike!!
