What computer do you have? Mac or PC?

Do you have the more common USB2 or USB3? USB3 is newer and has a faster data rate.

Depends on what you are using it for too. General use, USB2 is fine but if you are video editing you will need a firewire connection.

Most externals will use their own power source but there are plenty of smaller (portable) ones that don’t.

If you want something for general use these are quite good…

this one has it’s own power source (desktop)

    this one does not (portable)

Stick to a name brand. Plenty to choose from

    muddydwarf,

Just checked the software on my mac. I have a program that should do the trick. It’s called Genuine Fractals. You can buy it as a plugin for Photoshop for about £50. Probably not worth buying for a one off print so send over your pic and I will run it through, I can’t promise anything but should give you a fighting chance.

Hi muddydwarf. Your best bet is probably a fractal based image resizing program. Photoshop can only go so far. If you email me the image I will do everything I can with it then send it back to you.

I’m a photographer and deal with image resizing and stuff regularly. It’s hard to tell exactly what can be done without seeing the image. After resizing, it might need a lot of tweaking to reduce noise, Jpeg artifacts etc. This can be a fine balance. If you are going to have a print done on canvas you can get away with more than if you were printing on a glossy paper, so let me know what you intend to do.

Email me at…… info AT silascollins DOT com.

    I will help all I can 🙂

    Regards,
    S

Well I saw a bloke commuting the other day, must have had his ipod going as his hands were not on the handlebars but banging on an imaginary drum kit.

So yeah….why not a coffee too?!

Thanks steezysix. You are right, a conversion would be best, will look into it. In the mean time will have to bite the bullet and get the LBS to have a look if the new skewer doesn’t help things.

    Cheers!

Thanks for your reply steezsix…. I have a new one to test tomorrow.

I thought…from my google search…that the axle was the part of the hub that rests on the drop outs?? I am still trying to understand how I have bent the skewer…..I thought it’s only job was to hold the wheel in place.

    Bit confused!

Taylor your CV to the job but I wouldn’t go too far.

If you say you have experience in something you actually have very little or no experience of, you could end up looking stupid in the interview when they call you on it.

I would be honest, rather than saying you already skilled when you are not, just say you are not but it is an area you want to learn etc.

My mate has one of those on his stumpy, was offered crash replacement for £100 something but declined after having it checked.
LBS (specialized dealer) checked it out and didn’t think it was a problem and the rear triangle would last for years even with the dent. Only possible problems might arise with re-sale etc.

Ride it you’ll be fine, unless you die, in which case….ah who cares you’re dead.

And being charged is enough! I doubt the council would start legal proceedings unless they thought it was.

prove it! I doubt you can.

The son was convicted of a criminal offense today, apparently that was enough to constitute a breach of contract.

Can you prove otherwise? Are you just saying stuff too??

When I first heard this news I saw the councils point, and as the family breached the contract they signed with council they are in the unfortunate position of defending themselves against councils eviction request in the courts.

However on reflection I don’t believe this action is constructive, yes it is sending a message but I think it’s the wrong one. I think it will alienate people when what we need, in my opinion, is to be building bridges and listening to peoples needs.

the Five felt like a pair of old boots

Spot on! I was trying to think of a concise way of describing how they feel and that’s pretty good.

You might not want to do drops and jumps now, a year ago I didn’t either but things change and if/when you do, you could do a lot worse than a 5 to help you develop your skills. I’m not saying you won’t find that with any other bike ever! But from my experience the 5 has made it feel really natural.

    One more thing….

But for a xc ride round where I live it sucks the life out the ride.

I disagree, unless you live somewhere totally flat, it might be forgiving but that just makes me want to push it harder and that where the real fun begins and where the bike excels.

The only downside is no one will like you.

    Yep, but you won’t care.

I have the 2010 one, different rear shock but will chip in.

I have found that it takes a bit of riding with different settings to find what works best. I’m sure a lot of it depends on your weight and what you ride, what tyres you use and at what pressure.

Me….Sag 25% and the rebound depends on the ride, if I’m doing something a bit more “downhill’ with jumps and drop offs I will dial it down so I don’t get the rear end kicking up.

Not sure if your shock has the 1-2-3 setting of pro peddle? I leave pro peddle on (2) most of the time if I’m doing XC and flick it off for anything that isn’t up or level.

It’s all personal preference so take your time to find what works for you….and enjoy your new bike!!
