    Another Bristol convert here.

7 years and counting. There’s tonnes of riding from the door road and MTB. I’m still finding more bits to link up larger MTB routes, LW, 50 acre, Belmont, Wraxall, Flax Bourton, all the way to the Mendips. It’s ace!

Road riding is great South, North and West (don’t know about East).

And surf day trips are easily doable.

The danger of the beermuda triangle sucking you in and inhibiting riding is a serious issue, especially on sunny bank holiday Fridays… oh.

Cotic fan boy, love steel hardtails.

Flare looks amazing, but in the back of my head there is a little voice saying why steel full suss, the beauty of the HT is that ‘spring’ but in a full susser there’s linkage, shock etc.

Someone tell me steel full suss is amazing because.

If you were in the STW regulation T5 on the A9 north of Perth, would the average cameras ticket you for doing 60?

Sunset were great when I bought a bike from them back in 2011 and were also amazing when that frame cracked earlier this year and I needed proof of purchase. Emailed to me within minutes of phoning in.

    Will buy again A++++++ (etc)

SFDC is amazing but needs careful planning to get the best out of it.

There are other options for an SME. Check out Greenberg’s advice. He know’s his CRM onions.

    http://www.zdnet.com/article/and-the-winners-of-the-2016-crm-watchlist-are/

Plenty of options out there, Nimble, Capsule, Highrise. All SaaS, all monthly subscriptions so clear price plans.

Also good to try and plan long term – do you think the CRM will be where the marketing will be based out of or is it primarily to track sales etc.

I’m doing it. First time, riding with some pals I don’t get see so often since they moved. Was looking forward to it, kind of still am after reading this. Weather looks, umm, interesting.

What’s the STW secret handshake? I’ll be on a very blue Planet X so do say hi.

6 months into the standard issue T5 kombi here.

Mine’s a 2009 with the old 1,9 lump. Makes it a little unrefined and short geared (only 5 speeder) but I took that same engibe to 174k in an old Passat so I know it’s fairly reliable (touch wood etc).

Love it. Sold my car. Mrs Moon has an Up! so we do have a car for scooting about to. Mrs Moon loves driving the van.

We’ve got a 5 seat setup at the moment with the back carpeted & insulated. Have a second hand exploria bed frame that can go in for weekends away.

    So far, so good.

Oh, replacing the door speakers is a PITA of a job. Rivets, bloody rivets.

    Me sir me sir!

I did this. Decided the PA was a bit heavy even though it was tonnes of fun. Wanted a ‘quicker’ option but not full heads down bum up ‘race.’

Went for a kinesis xc130 frame, swapped everything across. It’s light, it’s quick, every now and again it feels a little steep up front but not really. I’ve enjoyed it for the last couple of years and (not that it matters) got stravaaaaaaaa Pbs on lots of local trails.

A bit stiff when you get it wrong mind.

Cheap as chips to buy if you can find a frame. Suits both 100mm and 120mm.

Have a soul itch that’s not going away so will probably go there next.

I have an 02 plate B5.5 passat estate 1.9 130. Bought it as a stop gap nearly three years ago for a little over £2k.

It’s very boring but very amazing. Everything works, even the heated seats and with 6 speed manual it’s an armchair cruiser at up to 50mpg. Usually get mid to high 40s on a longer journey.

It’s not bitten too bad, couple of suspension bits on top of normal servicing in that time. Now on 173k and feels like it’s got plenty left. Would probably only get £1k for it now.

Kept it because to get something much better would have to spend a hell of a lot more.

Find the 130 quick enough to punt around the UK.

Mondeos seen to offer similarly cheap motoring.

Will miss it when it goes!

    Best boring car evah etc

Bought a moon light (I know) for less than £100 price matched at cycled republic in Bristol. For under £100 it’s a much nicer beam than my old magic shine. I like it a lot. It’s just the junior model i think 850 lumens but is plenty for me.

MTB run a mix of SRAM and shimano over the years. Got my first road bike 3 years ago with SRAM rival 20. Love it, still works as well as it did on day 1, haven’t had to even re-index the gears. It’s ace and it works. Am sure if I got the ultegra equivalent I’d be saying the same.

Thanks folks lots of good stuff here.

Just picked up a tacx bluematic on the bay for not much more than the halfords one. Good reviews and a few of them mentioned it was quieter than average. Speed sensor for the garmin also ordered.

Will let you know how it goes. Agree on the thoughts that it’s training not riding. This is to be my replacement from 2x weekly spin classss from the last couple of years. I took a lot from spin. I used to live opposite a local gym which gave me no excuse not to go, now I live further out of Bristol and only option is David Lloyd. This is a cheaper route. A lot cheaper.

    Trainerroad next stop.

    Sorry dumb question incoming…

I can see there are various mag options up to £100 and smart from £150. With the smart option, once hooked up to an app does it automatically change the resistance according to the programme being followed (on trainerroad or similar) or does it just record the effort on to the app?

Was based near Helston a couple of weeks ago. Did the MBR lizard lap and that was pretty cool in an epic scenery kind of way. Pack sandwiches in the bag and just enjoy the views.

Also rode Cardinham woods and was fun. Swoopy modern trail centre fun.

Didn’t ride the coast to Coast in the end but did get few kms in round east dartmoor on the way home and that was properly brilliant!

You don’t ‘have’ to but if it really snows the gendarmes can be out on the road to argentiere making people put them on. Only if it really comes in! Even if it doesn’t you don’t want to park in the GM carpark, ski a day while it’s snowing and then drive back down the poya bends to Chamonix on summer tyres.

Summer tyres plus snow socks as a minimum is mostly fine. If it’s really dumping just do the train or the bus. If it’s just snowing a bit, stick the socks on and don’t drive like a dick and you’ll be fine.

Part worn winters very cheap on eBay.

This thread is relevant to my interests!

I have a 2011 ghost AMR 7500 gathering dust. It’s a great bike but I have been riding almost exclusively hardtail of the last few months.

Why gathering dust? Just not excited about it anymore, it’s competent but its a bit of a heavyweight.

I’d love a lightweight carbon trail/xc bike for rapid riding. Happy to go for a 26 that once was the bike of its time. I don’t really want to drop £3k+ on a new 650b, is there a second hand frame option out there that would be ripe for moving over the 120mm Fox32, 2 speed drivetrain, Crests on proIIs etc over?

So far musing as far as Cambers and fuel9.9s from a couple of years back.

Anything else to consider? Yeti? Epics? Turner? Cannondale?

I have no idea if that route is good but i have ridden there (once!).

Got shown around by a pal who lives locally, was a good ride out. We didn’t see a single other rider and stravas were out of a total of 30/40 riders on most sections, suggests it doesn’t get ridden all that often.

As a something different ride, it was great!

Can send you my gpx but as above have no idea how it compares to the route you have found (and if it is the local gold or not)

Done the tunnel a few times on Feb half term (mrs is a teacher).

Arrived a bit early on the way out and been put on the next available train. Arrived very very late on the way back (6+ hours because of autoroute fun) and been waved straight on the next train no problem.

    All on fixed tickets!
