    thats the sort of thing, do you *need* to clamp to the forks while using it or can you get away with some free hand?

    Less fancy than Argos but a lot less pricey…

    ABC in Nailsea did my dialled PA and a set of bars for £40 all in. Finish is fine and after a few rides no problems to report.

    1 week turn around.

    A spray geek would probably explain how inferior it is to Argos etc but if you want it to look pretty and not spend loads then these guys are an option!

    Ordered quite a few bits from them in recent weeks, been very impressed with service so far – got a nice email asking about what colour of BB I wanted and it arrived next day.

    Haven’t used the stuff properly yet so cannot comment on performance but going to Afan tomorrow so looking forward to getting back on the trails :)

    ahhhh, that link looks like it’ll get me what i need.

    considered 160 f & r but thought that my radness may merit the 180 upfront. Possibly not?

    ta muchly :)

    426 = steel steerer
    454 = aluminium

    ah, so a heavier fork gets just a bit heavier again.

    i see.

    top work chaps.

    a wealth of information and confidence boosting hand-holding that you guys are riding some of the stuff i was thinking of going for.

    hmmm, deep down i know i want to shove some rev airs on and this seems to be a valid option. I think i've known this from the start.

    having said that i've been offered soms coil pikes from a pal at a sensible price. Whats the difference between 426 and 454?

    oh,

    and,

    These pace Rc41s you speak of? Umm, tell me more!

    Big man,

    Even for an individual of your levels of biketartyness that was a possibly slightly OTT (potential) purchase, non?

    Assume you have got your money back? If so then its a more than a bit shitty by them but thats life i guess.

    anyways, see you in a couple of weeks :)

    (if you're planning on spending that much on a trailer the curries are on you this time)

    Err surely it all depends on what sort of riding we are talking about?

    Out in the Alps dual ply 2.5 super tacky minion on the front and 2.5 60a high roller in the back has always worked for me. Survived a week at mega with not a single puncture and still managed to hold station on the climbs so all in all a result.

    But would i pop them on the (enduro) for a day on the W2? no chance, it would take my weedy leg power even longer to drag myself round on those things. In winter 60a 2.35 single ply minion on the front and the same but high roller on the back is a good wet weather slow-rolling-loads-of-grip-but-gets-you-round option.

    But then its still slow on the climbs really. I've been running 2.35 ardents front and rear for over a year now and rate this as a good middle ground. Better than Kenda's or Fat Alberts of similar spec. Never ridden the conti's so can't comment. The Ardents are a big profile so if you stuff up a line through a rock garden you're going to come out the other side just fine. Grip is fine, rolling speed perfectly acceptable etc etc

    Its still not a fast rolling setup like crossmarks or something but then i chuck my toys because the front end gives me no grip whatsoever.

    whats your point caller? I don't know really, its all personal preference and you need to think about what kind of riding people are referring to when making recommendations.

    PS – >deep breath< I hate nobby nics and don't understand all you guys who rave about them ;)

    yep the Trient route is good, there is also a longer ride to Martigny via Finhaut, then take the train back to the border, then ride back over the col de montets into the valley

    there's tonnes and tonnes of riding in Cham (and thats just the stuff i managed to find by bimbling around).

    Lived there for 2 summers though sadly now rejoined the 'real world.' There is plenty of riding in Le Tour, Argentiere, Flegere, Les Houches etc etc. (there is also some pretty mental stuff at Brevent and some really fun bits in the bois du bouchet on the valley floor)

    It is quite, err, how can i put it. umm 'relentless' – nearly every bit rooty or rocky or offcamber or for my lessthangodlike skills just plain difficult! I love riding in Cham and will be over for a few days in July but it is quite hard to get some flow on compared to say riding the PdS, Pila or Crans etc. You will have a ball though and there are a couple of facebook groups to tap into local knowledge. Or you could just prop up the MBC or the Monkey bar one evening for hookups the next day!

    the new stuff at the back of Le tour is really fun and i think there might be a new trail up at flegere, dont know for sure though.
