Lol, I can assure you its a 20″ frame. Attached another photo taken from lower, might be that first photo making it seem so small.

Anyone here got much experience with an xl canyon nerve who is also around 6’5?

Saddle is as far back as it goes, it’s just over the max limited in fact. And I believe the stem is 100mm.

Hmm, looks like you all agree.

I was exploring the 29er route but still not sure. Would it actually aid my riding (being tall) or just make me look more in proportion?

I have also been considering a nerve xc in xl (even though their tool suggests a large…!)

Nightlife is decent in Epsom, got a good selection of bars / pubs and a couple nightclubs. Also have a strip club if thats your scene!

If working in Tadworth then Walton on the Hill would be a good location.

It depends what you want from a town, there isnt really anything going on in Walton OTH, its a very quiet town with a few pubs.

I would suggest visiting both Epsom and Walton OTH and seeing which would suit you best.

Epsom is a great town, lots of routes to the downs from door step. The town itself is one of the nicest in the area, its got everything you need.

Its also a great renting area which lots of properties within walking distance to the station.

Depends where you go, if your going to Leeds city centre tonight or tomorrow night then yes, you will indeed die.

Hi guys, what are the conditions like in the surrey hills at the moment? How are the trails holding up?

I would agree with the Dorking shout, would love to live there. Only issue is that it takes too long commuting into london.

BTW, Guildford = Town. Go on the official guildford.gov.uk site if you think otherwise…

    Agreed, brilliant site.

I use endomondo for recording my rides (Android) and then just upload then gpx file to Strava. Very straight forward process which seems to work well.

Strava is also a good way to find new trails! (Via segment explorer)

Another vote for the Galaxy S2, brilliant phone. Re GPS, its vastly improved over the Galaxy S. I use endomondo for GPS tracking when out riding and its flawless.

With Vans Gravels being out of stock, does anyone have any experience with Vans Whip 3?

Seem to be more of a BMX shoe but would it be ok for MTB? What are the main differences?

I would recommend the Carrera Fury. With the new range coming in soon, I expect they will be on sale again (typically go for £440 – Thats what I paid..)

Yeh loads of places to park in the Surrey Hills. Check out an OS map (bing maps) to find the location of all the car parks. Best place to park is Peaslake though and do a Holmbury / Leith hill loop.

    Where from?

Im no downhill rider, I typically ride around Surrey Hills and Swinley.

Looking at Van Gravels but all out of stock. Too much to pick and all seem to have some weaknesses. Might have to design my own shoe at this rate, seems like there is a gap in the market.

Has anyone tried the Karrimor Summit shoes? Heard some decent things and very cheap. Link

Size 11 and MG1 are fantastic for me. Wouldn’t want them any bigger.

Jedi, which version of the 6.0’s do you have? Seems to be hundreds of variations. Are the soles the same in all of them?

Kenneth, how do the freeriders hold up in the wet? Are they like the impacts and soak water up like a sponge? I dont want something which is going to take half a week to dry up. Cheers

peachos, I agree with you. For the price, the Duffs do look very good. Im thinking im going to go ahead and give them a go. Have you tried any other shoes? Do you know how the compare to anything else?

Thanks ianpv, that’s enough to put me off. I often do weekend rides and don’t fancy having to put wet heavy shoes on the next day if it rained the day before.

Tempted to just go for the AM41’s and just hope they look better in the flesh.

Thanks for the offer bigjim but i’m 45/46 so would have the same issue as you. How do you 41’s hold up in the wet?

I like the look of the Duffs (and price) but with the suede / leather I imagine they would get completely ruined in winter with the wet / mud?

Been reading reviews of the impacts, put off a bit about the sponge like effect if it rains and the drying times, im looking for a shoe that would be good for Summer and Winter. I really wanted a pair of the AM40’s but none in my size.

The AM41’s have got some good reviews, some people say they look better in the flesh. Are they just trying to convince themselves or is that true?

Thanks for the comments, looks like the impact 2’s are in the lead. Do they have the cardboard mid-sole? Heard something about 510’s and cardboard, put me off a bit. Are they shoes that would last over a year? Summer / winter riding?
